MOD IS CURRENTLY BROKEN ON PATCH 8 FOR DARK URGE PLAYTHROUGHS
LARIAN HAVE ADDED CODE TO THE GAME TO EXPLICITLY KILL ALFIRA IF A SAVE IS LOADED AFTER THE MURDER EVENT HAS TAKEN PLACE, EVEN IF IT WAS QUIL WHO WAS ACTUALLY MURDERED. I PRESUME THIS IS AN ATTEMPT TO COMBAT EXPLOITS SOME PEOPLE WERE USING TO KEEP HER ALIVE BUT IT HAS ALSO BROKEN THIS MOD FOR DARK URGE.
I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LOOK INTO FIXING THIS UNTIL MOONGLASSES IS UPDATED FOR PATCH 8.
TAV OR NON-DURGE ORIGIN PLAYTHROUGHS SHOULD NOT BE AFFECTED.
For everyone mourning the loss of our favourite bard in the new patch (In durge runs): Somehow, I have managed to circumvent the permadeath that Larian has cursed Alfira with even if it was Quil who died. I used Recruit Any NPC to remove Alfira from the party (she will stay in camp) during her recruitment night, then long rest until the butler comes post-murder scene. After that scene, use the NPC mod to add her back into the party. She retains her greetings from this mod/tent/all that jazz. But you will have to manually add and remove her from the party in this way until this mod can be updated. And removing her from the party does not send her back to camp. But hey, it's something!
Be patient with mod authors as they update things. Hopefully, this is the last time they have to deal with stuff like this since there will be no more patches to the game.
I don't know what alfira did to someone at larion but they really do seem to hate her. Such a weird thing to seem to obsess on but they really want her dead. You're fighting the good fight.
Would you consider make her sing the song you helped her finished in act1 in the camp? The origin NPC seems doing that all the time at the groove, if there is too much trouble then never mind.
I didn’t use any mods—I'm here because I just finished a Dark Urge playthrough in Patch 8, and something strange happened. I knocked out Alfira and sacrificed Quil, as usual, but then I noticed something weird. I couldn’t talk to Alfira at all. The speech icon was still there, but the NPC wouldn’t react—not even the usual “go away” lines you get when someone’s out of dialogue. At the celebration in the Grove, she also didn’t initiate any conversation, which made me suspicious. So I rushed to the Last Light Inn, found she was missing from her usual spot. A backup NPC had taken her place. I’m guessing something got messed up in Larian’s latest update—or maybe they really want Alfira dead in a Dark Urge playthrough now
I'd like to inform you that i've found a workaround for the current issue (of Alfira being dead everytime we load Durge playthrough) She will only die if she is in your party.
I reloaded a Durge where Alfira is standing dormant in camp (not in my party) and she doesn't die.
So while waiting for the mod to be fixed, i suggest to reload to a save where Alfira is NOT in your party!
Right now my Alfira lives and is still playing beautiful music in my camp <3 I shall wait for the next update for this mod before taking her in my party again! =======================================
Additional Info: If you are on evil run and decide to destroy the grove, add her into your party (but avoid reloading saves at all costs). Because she will be scripted dead during destroying the grove, and you cannot resurrect her if she is out of your party (happened to me in Patch 7). I know it doesn't make sense for her to be involved in destroying the grove, but we want her to survive don't we. Then, after long rest at Goblin Party you can dismiss her and save. Only reload the last save and not before. Like i said above, Patch 8 won't kill her when you reload if she is not in your party.

Edited to add: It looks like it's working. I just had the Quill scene, left Alfira in camp NOT in group, saved and reloaded a couple times, went back to camp, and Alfira is still alive. Thank you!
Ty for this info ! I am doing my first Durge playthrough with patch 8. This now means I do not have to put that on hold until the mod can be updated, but only have to do without my Bard/Swashbuckler in the party for now.
I don't remember if I killed Quil or not in this play session, but I definitely recruited Alfira before it, meaning I've reloaded the save after she joined. It was two Long Rests after that Quil appeared and the murder event happened. So far Alfira's still kicking. Butler hasn't appeared yet. Playing good Durge on Patch 8.
Just a data point or two for you in case it helps!
Edit: Butler appeared, still alive. Edit2: Loaded a quicksave, Alfira was fine both before and after a Long Rest.
I did the Githyanki patrol scene and the Artefact-saving-you-on-the-bridge scene because I expected those might have been the problem scenes. After both a quickload and a full load, Alfira is still alive. She has survived through multiple quit-and-loads as well.
Some notes; - She is in my camp and only joined my party once to level up a bit. - She has not left my camp since she joined. - Withers has not appeared yet but the Dream Visitor has. - I have not visited the Goblin Camp yet, let alone done the Tiefling party.
I have your mod for Alfira and the one to exchange Alfira with Quil for the Dark Urge kill scene. (installed the other first..) All saves after the kill scene, Alfira would just be dead on the ground, if I speak with dead, she talks about her teacher and the goblins she got away from.
I had a save from the camp night with the murder. There Alfira is alive and can stay at camp. I can bring her along, but if I save and reload, she dies, same no connection memory.
During the day after Quil is murdered, I tried to fight with Githyankis but Alfira mysteriously disappear. I could find her in the save exactly before we met the dragon but she instantly dead when I tried to load it.
I think after killing quil in a durge playthrough alfira dies whenever you reload a save after that point. For me I was at the githyanki patrol, reloaded after failing a skill check, and she was dead on the bridge.

The more precise detail about the events leading up to you having the problem you can give, the easier it will be for me to try and replicate it.
