Please note that to get the gem to appear in the trader's inventories you have to do a long rest to refresh them. Sold by Arron, Talli/Araj and Danthelon. You can also spawn the gem with it's UUID using Script Extender, 6dab51bf-a2cf-4869-95ab-5e5fa837da51
This is so, so pretty! I always play a shimmering fairy, and now with this sweet cantrip, I can really shine ✨Thanks for making & sharing this with us. Well done :)
That’s a whole other can of worms. There are different types of “lights” coded into the game. This mod uses the same type that the torch uses. The Light cantrip uses its own type of light that doesn’t cast shadows. And they each have tens of thousands of lines of code. It’s really not as simple as changing a couple values. In short, just buy the rock.
Hi everyone, can someone maybe help me out... This mod isn’t working for me visually, although the emerald shows up in the inventory and can be used.
I assume that mods removing VFX could be affecting this one? I have such mods installed because I wanted a clean screen and an immersive look, but this mod is quite immersive on its own, so I’m wondering if there’s a way to make it work?
Try temporarily disabling your VFX reducing mods and see if Emberlight functions. If it works then we know it’s those mods and can look into that. If not then it’s something else to troubleshoot.
Could you also make a version that appears in the tutorial chest? like an add-on? I always forget to go to the traders since i have all other items in the tut chest so it would be very convenient.
usually the first and most common traders you encounter. like Arron in the grove right at the entrance for example, or the lady in last light inn that says "If youre alright by Jaheira, you're alright by me" XD. But i always forget about them lol
1.1 version now let's an ally that has Emberlight cast on them turn the light off/on with a temporary spell found on their hotbar. Works on summons like Scratch too.
I like your mod, but I got the issue you cant set off the light unless you long rest, and looks like it's only possible to enchant your character but not the current equipped weapon. Wich in turn mess up with character behing unable to stealth.
Light cantrip enchant only your wurrent weapon, then you can switch to your ranged weapon for instance, to turn off the light if you need obscurity.
I would gladly see respecting the exact behavior of Light cantrip, but with Torch SFX. Is that not possible only by modifying the light cantrip SFX ?
It can't be applied to a weapon no. Simple answer is because this type of light casts shadows while the Light cantrip light does not. If you put it on a weapon the shadows go totally haywire. With that said, I can update the mod to give the ally who has Emberlight cast on them a toggle to turn it on and off while it's applied. I'll look into implementing that this weekend.
I have no idea what you mean about only being able to remove Emberlight with a long rest. It can only be applied to one thing at a time so if you want to take it off yourself or an ally just cast it on a random object. The Light cantrip has the exact same functionality.
Spell replacers have gotten weird in patch 6/7 and tend to cause issues. I don’t do them anymore, hence the gem item. I’ll be able to make a more integrated version with the new official toolkit when I’m done learning it.
It should work with that ring yeah. It only requires the enemy to be in a fully lit area. Emberlight emits the same type of light a torch does, so anywhere in the game torchlight does something (like the shadowlands), Emberlight will too. I’m a little less sure on more specific instances like that Harper chest that can only be opened when the Light spell is cast near/on it.

Thanks for your work anyway ;)

Would love to see a version that entirely replaces the vanilla light cantrip with your beautiful emberlight.
Looking forward to what you might come up with.
