About this mod

Rolling 10 over the DC results in a critical hit, and vice versa for critical misses. Based on Pathfinder 2e's degrees of success mechanic. Applies to all creatures and all active rolls (attacks, skill checks, saves)

Permissions and credits
Mirrors
Incorporates the degrees of success system from PF2e.

You critically succeed when the check's result meets or exceeds the DC by 10 or more. If the check is an attack roll, this is also known as a critical hit. You can also critically fail a check. The rules for critical failure—sometimes called a fumble—are the same as those for a critical success, but in the other direction: if you fail a check by 10 or more, that's a critical failure. [Pathfinder Player Core pg. 401]

All creatures and rolls are affected by this rule change. Natural 1s and 20s still work as usual, this is a feature in both rulesets.

A handy rule of thumb is that your crit chance is your success chance, minus 50% (or 5%, if higher). Your fumble chance is likewise your failure chance minus 50%. Advantage is a bit trickier to calculate, and I haven't found much resources on crit chance with True Strike (Sure Strike in the 2024 rules).

Due to the limitations of the Stats system, this mechanic is implemented through the use of two custom reactions that set your roll to 1 or 20 respectively. Dialog rolls cannot be interrupted, but the reactions still work fine in combat. Please play with honor and keep the reactions enabled, but the monsters have the reactions available too as a failsafe.

Uninstalling
This mod has been built with uninstall safety in mind, using a Story Script to assign/remove a hidden status. As long as all players are in camp, and no combat is ongoing, it should be safe to remove. You can check your hotbar to see if you have the reactions available - if they aren't there, then you're good.
If you load a game and you do not have the reactions, you can leave and enter camp to get them again.
