Hey, I like this mod. So much so that LillyBird and I included it in Listonomicon. We've also included several other community compat framework tools.
"Listo" is a Wabbajack-powered mod list, that works almost identically to Nexus Collections but uses a community alternative to Vortex to help users download mods from Nexus, put them in the correct order, and prepare their game to play. No mods are repacked, stolen, or distributed directly - users are still directed here, just like with Collections, to download from your Nexus page and ensure you are given the proper download credit.
Due to confusion over what Wabbajack is and what it does, users at the Down By The River community encouraged me to give a courtesy "heads up" to the authors whose work is included in Listonomicon. And to assure them that per Listonomicon's install instructions, users are explicitly told to direct their bug reports issues to us first as mod authors (like you) don't want to deal with being inundated with help requests or bug reports from users with 300+ active mods.
You can read a little more about our project on Github, though the preferred way to access Listonomicon is via the Wabbajack gallery. A list of all included mods are here. A synopsis of the philosophy of Listo and what we are trying to accomplish (and avoid) can be found in our Whitepaper on the first two pages, and is elaborated starting page 17 "List Philosophy."
If you have any concern about your mod being included in Listonomicon (which is still downloaded from this page, and credits you as the author), please send me a message via Nexus's PM mail. I'm not sure how to get notifications if someone has replied to a comment.
Me and my brother were able to get it working by un-ticking all the mods in the Native mod loader ingame and then going to the main menu and then going back into the mod loader and re-ticking everything
worked consistently for us trying to play multiplayer
It took me a while to figure it out, but the Community Library update has been a complete wall. I get a message that says I can't start a new game because of my mods. After going through one by one to find the problem, I found it was this one. As soon as I turn it off, it runs just fine even with my 100+ other mods.
Yes! I have more or less the exact same problem. I can enable mods that were last updated in 2023 alongside mods last updated a week ago and everything runs perfectly as long as I don't enable this mod. When manually testing in trial and error which mods work for me, every time I see the new main menu screen in the seaside cave, it's synonymous with a non-functioning mod list. Likewise, when I launch and see the main menu screen with the balduran statue on the green hill overlooking Baldur's Gate, I know that the mod list I have enabled will work.
What it says for me: when I click New Game > Balanced > loading screen > Error: Server Shutting Down. I try a second time: NG > B > loading screen > crash
Thanks for the detail Alexisamazing0 - Can you confirm if rolling back to Community Library v2.2.8.5 (under the Old Files section) continues this behavior?
The main menu screen you're seeing is a holdover from early access, which is strange.
From a glance at the Troubleshooting channels in Larian Discord, a potential cause for this issue is leftover files, loose mods from prior to the update, and unupdated NativeModLoader mods can cause this - though that should be consistently happening with or without CL installed if it were the case. That said there are people successfully running CL under the current version and current patch, so it may be some combination of things happening.
The suggestion I see given over there is to 1. Uninstall the game 2. Unsubscribe from mod.io mods (back up the links so you can retrieve them again easily later) 3. Remove(back up somewhere just in case) any leftover folders(Both the game's installation folder and anything inside it if still present, and your mods folder under AppData/Local/Larian Studios/Baldur's Gate 3/Mods). 4. Reinstall and re-add mods one-by-one.
Of course, that's a painful process, and not ideal, but it should help narrow things down further. Something key to this is that mods that are in your Mods folder, but disabled via mod manager, are still loaded by the game and can cause issues with active mods. It may be worth temporarily removing some mods wholesale from your AppData Mods folder (noting that mod.io mods will just re-add themselves, so you'll still need to temporarily unsubscribe from them) until you find whatever's conflicting with CL - at the very least that should be a faster, less painful process.
After trying with CL v2.2.8.5, loading with ImpUI v2.1.0.82, ImpUI Assests v3.21.2, and CF v2.6.3.12 I get the Error message "Failed to load the main menu from the current game mod . The main menu in that mod requires the level . Make sure to clear any local mods and try again. If the problem persists, please contact Larian support." which appears before the main menu loads.
I don't use Mod.io, so I will back up my saves before doing a fresh install like you have suggested.
Update: Fresh install, verified file integrity, game won't even load into the main menu. "Failed to load the main menu from the current game mod . The main menu in that mod requires the level . Make sure to clear any local mods and try again. If the problem persists, please contact Larian support."
Thank you! I moved modsettings and a modsettingsbackup out and it lets me load the game properly now. I doubt those files are meant to remain removed though, is there anything else I need to do, or am I free to experiment with CL 2.2.8.5 as you have suggested?
Deleting the file allows the game to regenerate a new valid copy :)
At this stage I'd grab the latest CL, and if that causes issues, let me know and grab 2.2.8.5.
If that works, you'll want to bring in the other mods in small batches, making it easier to see if there's anything causing an unexpected compatibility issue with CL
After alot of testing and uninstalling all my mods with patch 8. When I tested this mod with your framework mod seems to be causing a infinite loop. When I start a new game it just goes back to the main menu. When I uninstall the mods the game boots up like it supposed to.
Installing just this mod (using vortex), does not allow the game to get to the main menu. I get the error message "Failed to load the main menu from the current game mod CommunityLibrary. The main menu in that mod requires the level . Make sure to clear any local mods and try again. If the problem persists, please contact Larian support." I did not have any other mods, even disabled ones, in the mod directory.
Installing this mod along with "ImpUI Patch 8 Slim" allows the game to get to the main menu, but then it does get into that loop where starting a new game makes it load for a little bit, then quits back into the main menu with the error message "Server shutting down". Interestingly, the main menu scene also changes to some sort of panning shot of a cave/boat on a shore area that then pans down into some deeper cave with piles of skulls (not the one where the four adventures descend stairs under a giant skull). I think that's the early access main menu screen? I did not have any other mods, even disabled ones, besides those two in the mod directory.
Also, uninstalling CommunityLibrary and launching with just ImpUI Patch 8 Slim allows me to start a new game, and the main menu scene is back to the normal 4 adventurers descending the stairs. So its certainly something with this mod. Though by only having ImpUI, the new subclasses dont show up.
Perhaps not relevant to this mod in particular, but I'm having these same issues with a litany of other mods (such as Mod Configuration Menu).
Update: I solved my problem with this mod and was able to start a new game by installing Community Library, Compatibility Framework, and ImpUI in this load order: ImpUI Community Library Compatibility Framework
Removing ImpUI and launching with the load order: Community Library Compatibility Framework Gave me the "failed to load the main menu" error.
I literally uninstalled/removed all my mods and installed them one at time with their reqiurements to rebuild my load order and started a new game each time and watch the cutscene of jumping out the pod before restarting the test with more mods added back to the load order.
Also did test with all my mods disabled and activated them one at time with their requrements. I only had issues when I activated your mods in the load order with my mods either completely removed or disabled. (Error: Server Shutting Down)
YES! DO THIS! Literally went mod by mod to figure out Community Library was the issue. Came here found your post and it worked instantly. MAKE SURE IMPUI IS ABOVE COMMUNITY LIBRARY!!!!
ImpUI is above ComLib and I'm still getting the "Failed to load the main menu from the current game mod CommunityLibrary. The main menu in that mod requires the level . Make sure to clear any local mods and try again. If the problem persists, please contact Larian support."
I have a new character in the "origin section" below. "Not found" character. When choosing this character game stutters. Not playable. Maybe it is "Load Order Agnostic - Experimental" or "CommunityLibrary". screenshot
I updated both this mod and MCM today. Game wouldn't load. I revert back to 2.2.8.6 and let game load normally. I then updated mod to 2.2.8.8 and a bunch of mods got unlisted but I was able to use mod manager to enable all of them. Everything seems to work. Seems my fix bit different from everyone else so I posted,
Can you describe how the load order is breaking, and are you able to confirm you're currently on Patch 8? Looking into it, I may have mucked up the meta.lsx
AMAZING. YOU FIXED IT BEFORE I COULD COLLECT DATA!!!!! Thanks
You get active order reset externally. here is th SE log 447 mods worked. Until update

Did I come too late with an answer? Update 8. When installing version 2.2.8.6, the in-game mod manager turned off all modifications and the loading order in BG3MM was disrupted when the mods were reactivated.
Good ole "Failed to load the main menu from the current game mod CommunityLibrary. The main menu in that mod requires the level . Make sure to clear any local mods and try again. If the problem persists, please contact Larian support." Hasnt worked since september on any fresh install without any other mods.
Have a question. Most likely not from this mod but my chacaters now all have martial mastery for the martial classes and spellpower mastey for the magical classes. Does anyone know what mod that is from so I can go in there and remove as oppose to removing the mod?
not sure why but it claims i dont have the right version of the script extender. what script extender is it refering to becasue ive tried 2 and neither one worked for me. keeps giving me the same flag. using BG3MM

Is this happening to anyone else?

That should allow the game to load. Definitely verify that you've gone through some of the side steps on this as well: https://wiki.bg3.community/en/Tutorials/Mod-Use/How-to-remove-mods
