This one is for all the Wyll players out there. This mod makes Wyll's Infernal Rapier have actual infernal properties. The weapon's model implies that the weapon is searing hot, yet it does not inflict any fire damage or cause any burns - it does now.

This mod improves Wyll's Infernal Rapier to be more on par with other companion story weapons/items. The rapier is a combination of the legendary weapon Duellist's Prerogative (with some changes for balance) and Kurwin's Cauteriser (but instead of Burning, it inflicts Hellfire Burning instead). It also adds a feature exclusive to Wyll.

Changes to the Original

  • Arcanic Finesse Weapon (replaces Melee Caster) - The original weapon has Melee Caster, but this forces the weapon to scale with the wielder's Spellcasting Ability Modifier even if their Strength or Dexterity is higher. With Arcanic Finesse, the weapon only uses the wielder's Spellcasting Ability Modifier IF it is higher than their Strength or Dexterity modifier -- this also applies to weapon actions and DC saves.

  • Agent of Mizora: Warrior (Spell) - The Cambion summoned using this blade uses the model of a female Cambion from a certain location in the game. The Cambion comes with the Polearm Master feat added and can retaliate attacks with Hellish Rebuke. This Cambion uses a different Glaive with the model of the Pactbound Glaive that inflicts an additional 3d6 Fire damage. Still not as strong as the Deva Mace's 4d8 Radiant damage, but the glaive's damage die is higher than a mace, so it somewhat evens out. The glaive also grants it access to more weapon actions than the default Cambion Glaive which only grants access to Rush Attack. It also allows the Cambion to use these weapon actions more often than just once per short rest. The weapon actions are:

    • Rush Attack (usable once per battle) - This is the same as the normal Rush Attack except for its cooldown.

    • Lacerate (usable once per turn) - This is the same as the normal Lacerate weapon action except for its cooldown.

    • Sweeping Attack (usable once per turn) - Inflicts weapon damage in an AoE cone.

  • Agent of Mizora: Sorcerer (Spell) - This Cambion has many similarities to Mizora's class in that it specializes in spellcasting and control. The model is taken from one of the two Cambions that visit your camp in act 3 - I just added Mizora's skin color preset on her.

  • Infernal Metal (replaces High Spellcasting) - The original weapon only adds a +1 bonus to Spell Save DC. Infernal Metal adds a +1 bonus to both Attack Rolls and Spell Save DC and reduces the amount needed to roll a critical hit by 1. This is a combination of Infernal Acuity and Improved Critical. The reduction to roll a critical hit is a feature found on the Duelist's Prerogative, but it's worded differently.

  • Legendary - The rarity has been bumped up to Legendary (previously Very Rare) to correlate with the weapon's changed and added features.

  • Hellfire VFX: When you enter combat, the blade ignites in Hellfire VFX.

New Features

  • Searing Blade - Attacks made with the Infernal Rapier may inflict Burning: Hellfire, a variant of Burning that inflicts 1d6 fire damage per turn instead of 1d4 and ignores resistance and immunity to fire damage. Targets that are immune to either Hellfire or burning will also be immune to Burning: Hellfire. The wielder inflicts additional fire damage equal to its Charisma modifier to burning targets. This is a similar damage bonus as the damage bonus found on the Duelist's Prerogative, but instead of using a reaction, you inflict the damage only to burning targets.

  • Forever Dauntless - If the wielder is Wyll, all fire damage inflicted with the Infernal Rapier will be dealt as Hellfire damage - that is, it will ignore resistance and immunity to fire damage. This only works when the fire damage is caused by the weapon. This feature pairs especially well with items or spells that add additional fire damage to weapons like the Helldusk Gloves or Elemental Weapon: Fire.

  • Infernal Strike (Weapon Action) - You can make an additional melee attack with the Infernal Rapier as a bonus action once per turn. This is another feature inspired by the Duelist's Prerogative; however, unlike the bonus weapon attack from the Duelist's Prerogative, this weapon action does not require your offhand to be empty. To add balance to this feature, this weapon does not grant an extra Reaction Point like the Duelist's Prerogative does.

Unrelated Bonus

As a bonus, I also fixed the fire damage not ignoring resistance and immunity from the Hellfire Greataxe's spell (surprisingly, this is a spell and not a weapon action), Hellflame Cleave.

Addons - Available in Optional Files

Cooled Edition
A slightly more restricted version with balance in mind. Main mod required.

Changes to the base mod:

The 1d6 Fire damage from the weapon has been moved to the Searing Blade passive. This means the weapon will still inflict 1d6 + Charisma Modifier as Fire damage, but only to burning targets. Previously, the weapon dealt 1d6 Fire damage whether or not the target was burning with added Fire damage equal to the wielder's Charisma Modifier to burning targets.

Infernal Strike (the Bonus Action attack) now applies a condition to targets named "Infernal Brand" when it successfully lands a hit on the target. Infernal Strike cannot be used against targets that are branded. The condition is removed when combat ends or when the target is defeated. This effectively makes the action usable only once per target, per combat.

Agent of Mizora: Sorcerer's Warlock Spell Slots have been reduced to Level 2 (down from Level 5) and Hold Monster has been replaced with Hold Person.
