FYI this is great, but somehow it breaks textures on some of the weapons. The Dark longsword is resized, but now has white splotches all over that can't be dyed back to black. Any fix would be greatly appreciated.
Dude, make a mod the does all weapons. Just slightly smaller and they all would look better. Crossbows looks massive, 2 handers look masive while some of the +1 flails look bigger than the normal garden variety simple flail. But there is one that is just horrid and that is the morningstar. The only thing is if you make it the size of the normal everyday garden variety mace then the bugbears would look off as big as they are.
+1 for this. Really need a giganitc weapons pack a la Skyrim like Jaysus Weapons, Immersive Weapons etc. Don't understand why there aren't 1000 more weapon models when a game like friggin Banner Kings has 800 helmets.
Is there a chance you can do the opposite for the shortsword? By Increasing the blades length and call it a longsword? I like the more traditional fantasy sword handle the shortsword has.
This would be amazing. I love the idea of an arming sword in the game and the Shortsword would fit that niche perfectly with it being a pure 1 handed european style weapon, it's just too short
Terminology about swords is always tricky because historically, the most common term for any given shape of sword has been simply "sword" (or, obviously, other words that most closely translate to "sword" in English). D&D longswords seem to have as their most central reference something like English longswords of the middle ages, which typically range between ~40-~55 inches (including handle). BG3's longswords seem to be well within this framework, though we have no actual canonical measurements of the height of characters. But shorter weapons have been presented as longswords in D&D as well; katanas have been treated as longswords in D&D, and those are in real life often below and rarely above 40 inches.
Basically, everyone can chill out about it. This mod neither makes longswords more "realistically sized" nor does it make them short enough to be incompatible with the term "longsword" in a D&D context.
not really. the longswords are like 1,80 m long. I measured the models in blender. shortening them down to 1,30m makes them look good, still a bit big for accurate models, but the characters are quite tall themselves (female short is 1,80m, male 1,92m, buff models are even bigger). once i get my hands on the old textures from pre EA patch 6 i might try my hands on the great swords.

What 5e did was remove arming swords entirely (which used to be called Longswords) and made Longswords, Longswords.
The removal of the "bastard sword" in 5e combined with the lengthening of the Longsword & making it Versatile, resulted in a correct Longsword but the total removal of the most standardized sword (Arming Sword). It used to be that Longswords in D&D were Arming Swords and Bastard Swords were Longswords (sometimes).
This mod reverts Longswords to become old school D&D "Longswords", which are just arming swords.
It's honestly weird how D&D 5e decided to fix Longswords after 5+ editions of it being wrong, but then removed the most popular 1H sword of all time (Arming Swords) completely. It's so dumb.
Then again D&D has always had and continues to have Leather Armor, which was never a real armor due to it being worse in every objective way to Gambeson. Gambeson was more protection, cheaper, repairable, easily maintained, maintained and crafted by common skills (sewing instead of leatherworking). Leather armor was mostly just pieces of metal armor, tournament (artistic) pieces, and a small experiment that was a horrible idea. In fact "boiled leather" which D&D nerds think is real leather armor used in history is actually less protective than simply layering unhardened leather. For the some reason gambeson is objectively physically superior than any form of leather.
So D&D nerds have always had nearly everything wrong about weapons/armor in their fantasy setting. It's just weird they actually fixed the Longsword but then removed the Arming Sword.

Someone else has created a lightsaber mod. I want to go in and shorten those blades too. Body type 1 looks dumb with these long swords.

I mean the handles are a bit long, but that was made to make them compatible with greatsword animations, so I get it.
