thx for mod, possible to get version where failed pickpocket is noticed? feels like if you failed that means they noticed you with your hands in their pockets, and some may not mind but others would likely not care for it, lol
also does this "Guard_NPCInterrogate_Theft" mean regular non guard npcs wont act like a guard and do the whole did you steal that dialogue but guards still will if they see you directly? coz i almost depopulaterd baldurs gate over this with all the random non named npcs doing that. rly annoying, cant even pick up loot from dead enemies without this happening
I initially had pickpocket failure noticed, but it's really annoying to face serious consequences each time. Best action is to reload, over and over again. I found that was no fun at all. The dice is still there, which can be painful enough for high value items.
All Interrogation regarding theft is removed, no guards show up for stealing. If a NPC notices you stealing in their sight it will have consequences, but this is much easier avoided then the pickpocket failure. I also removed that stealing created a "crimescene", meaning: if you steal something without being seen, a NPC turning in that direction will detect something missing and this would trigger an interrogation. That made it quite impossible to steal anything, without putting a lot of time and effort into it.
ok thx, ill try it, possible to get version like u had it originally with pickpocket fail? thats rly what bugs me more than anything is taking something inside a box or on the ground with no one seeing and then them "seeing" it missing and questioning me, im just concerned having no pickpocket fail will make it like stealing from withers for everyone, which means anyone without skill can do it and takes any skill from it
Sorry, I will not readd the pickpocket consequences at the moment as this mod is annoying to make. First step would rather be to migrate to the official mod format, which I currently don't have the complete knowledge and time for.
You still need to be undetected for pick pocketing and can still fail if your pick pocket dice throw goes bad, and for high value items that happens a lot. That completely disrupts the process and can be quite a struggle on moving characters. But, if it fails, previously you would be in a situation you would have to fight or reload a save. Unless you are die hard role player or love to wipe out friendly populations constant reloading was much more of an immersion break.
Regarding Withers, you should not steal from him. If you really can't help yourself, there is a mod to help you with that: Stop Pickpocketing Volo and Withers
Can this be used together with No Crimes at Baldur's Gate or is it better used alone? I don't know if the mods edit the same thing(s) or even do the same thing. Thank you.
Both mods target the crime system (file: Crimes.lsx). The "No Crimes" mod removes ALL crimes, even murder. My mod just removes a few very annoying minor crimes like stealing (without directly being noticed) or consequences for pick pocketing.
the most troblemaking thing - fall attempt to steal in combat with words "attemt to steal was falled". For example, you cleaning moonrize towers, there is Lann Tarv. He will due with other Moonrize defenders and his money and shop items don't drop. So, you give to Astarion guidance and bard inspiraton to his other staff, like The Graceful Cloth, hold Lann and use spell Darkness to him. So, Astarion hide, but CAN't steal for no reason at all, and you see this words "attemt to steal was falled" and the dice roll doesn't even happen. So charged Astarion can't steal and someone else need to do this. Although technically he CAN steal everything there were ehiught various additions 1)Dexterity modificator +5 (Dexterity=18+The Graceful Cloth(dex+2, Astarion has advanage) 2)Sleight of Hand (master, 9 lvl) +8 3)Gloves of Power +1 4)Smuggler's Ring +2 5)Guidance spell 1d4 6)Bardic Inspiration 1d8 Darkness (Lann has disadvantage) (18-28) to the throw to take out anything of value, like several thousand coins or armor with cost 2k coins. Can this mod do something with this trouble "attemt to steal was falled" without roll?
If I understand correctly you want to pickpocket Lann Tarv after the combat has started? I don't think that is a crime problem.
To be sure you can try this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/917 Which removes all crimes.
What I read is that you should keep Asterion out of battle. Initiate battle with some one else (including casting darkness) and then move in with Asterion. Good Luck!
Given how the game went absurdly in the other direction, this feels fair. All the hoops you had to jump through just to avoid people psychically knowing it was you without ever seeing you or having a reason to suspect you just made me want to skip out on theft in general (other than murdering everyone and then looting everything).
Edit : Forgot to ask, was there any chance this is coming to mod.io? I'm playing a game with some friends that only use in-game manager for mods and I'm playing a rogue. Would love to add this in.
Yes, the mod is meant to be fair. Basically it removes the steal crimescene and pickpocket consequences. If caught stealing is still being frowned on, but there is no need to involve the guards.
A note regarding the psychic ... if you notice some of your stuff missing after some stranger has been around, it should be rather easy to point fingers. But guards should have better things to do then seek you out every few minutes. From a gameplay point of view that mechanic wasn't very fun. Sneaking around and managing NPCs to make the theft happen is. In my opinion.
I tried to mod this with the official Toolkit but could not get it to work. It might be possible to convert it, but it seems like quite a bit of work. Currently it looks like too much work for me. But if someone else likes to prove me otherwise ...
Thanks, I am tired and misread. I reworded my answer. Really sorry about mod.io, it would make sense. But I am not really sure this kind of mod can be done "properly" at all at the moment.
In isolated areas where you know everyone in town, sure, but when there's tons of strangers like at the Grove (tieflings vs druids) or Baldur's Gate (hundreds of strangers) it's pretty weird to point at one stranger in particular. Plus sometimes I wouldn't even have the item on me anymore yet it wouldn't give me an option to deny guilt. Just...yeah, wasn't very fun.

Nuts. Well, it'll still be nice to use in solo games.
