Hey guys. I'm thinking about starting a new playthrough. From what I understand, you are no longer required to nuke the tieflings to get Minthara. Does that make this mod redundant? Is there functionality that this mod provided, or can provide that would make it worth me updating?
Read the FAQ in the mod description before asking for help
This mod is NOT COMPATIBLE with the normal Daughter of Lolth - Minthara You cannot recruit Minthara using this mod if you install it AFTER going to Act 2
The scene right after the Trial at Moonrise, where Minthara is led to the cells is initialized the MOMENT you begin Act 2. If you are in Act 2 and didn't have this mod to make sure it initialized properly at the start of Act 2, that scene will break and Minthara will not be recruitable. There is no way to reverse this or work around it. This mod MUST be installed before you leave Act I if you want your natural recruitment path. If you want to test it and REALLY make sure it's working, create a save game to act as a checkpoint. Install CheatEngine with the Zanzer BG3 table. Speedrun through Creche zone straight to Moonrise and verify her trial is working. I'll upload a video. This process takes roughly 10-15 minutes to give you peace of mind.
Getting Help: This mod attempts to accomplish something the game tries very hard to make not possible, and includes editing databases, toggling flags, and a variety of other things that can cause issues. I want to be able to help everyone, but I can't solve issues without information. I have probably close to 100 hours writing these mods and solving problems in the forums. So if you have an issue you need to do the following or I won't be able to assist you. Also - I'll be creating an FAQ. If you ask a question that can be answered by reading the FAQ or the description, or this stickied post, I won't reply.
Make a bug report:
Are you on the latest version of mod (If you're not, install it and see it fixes your issue before opening a bug report)
What mods you are currently running
What version of the game you are running
What version of ScriptExtender you are running
What you are using for your ModManager
What is you mod load order
Optionally: A screenshot of the issue or error
Addtionally:
I need you to be prepared to give additional information if requested
If you have Discord, if you are willing to message me if I request can tremendously help identifying issues
Common Issues:
Returning to Act I with Halsin and Minthara recruited will kill Halsin: Looking at how to block this
Minthara is just standing there after the trial, doesn't follow the torturers to prison:
One of two things happened. Either it was a version of my mod where I had a bug or missed some of the conditions for her
It was installed too late. Either way - the only way to get her is to revert to Act I save or use the other mod and summon her with the ring. Apologies for any heartache this causes :(
Minthara is defeated in Act I - and she doesn't disappear into a poof of smoke: The mods script is NOT running (even if the chest has items)
1. Download BG3SE-Updater-with-Console-v3.zip https://github.com/Norbyte/bg3se/releases 2.Extract the following 2 files to your bin folderDWrite.dll ScriptExtenderSettings.jsonScriptExtenderSettings.json should have this entry by default { "CreateConsole": true }
3.Install this mod Daughter of Lolth - Chosen Path - Logging Enabled using a mod manager (make sure its enabled) 4. Now when you launch the game you should see an additional console window pop up.
Question: what should I do if for some reason she constantly dies? I take off all the equipment from the character, beat her with my fists and she still turns into a pool of blood (I turned on the stun mode, as a result the goblin lies unconscious and she dies) or is it supposed to be like this?
Same thing is happening to me. Minthara disappears into a pool of blood no matter what method I do to try to knock her out. Toggling non-lethal damage does nothing either. Just gonna continue forward with the story and see what happens lol. If she's truly dead, then whatever.
How to uninstall this mod during a playtrought? I keep getting my save unplayable.
Removing mods mid-game are never wise, unless authors have given detailed instructions of how to do it, and stated that there shouldn't bee any problems doing so. That would be in the pinned posts or in Description page.
Rukongai, to answer the question of is it redundant - no, unless you like getting the Enemy of Justice condition. Personally, having the option to avoid that flag being set and the havoc it causes is a solid reason to install. Trying it the Larian way is a near guarantee of the condition, I've tried multiple times, this mod offers much more to achieve Minthara without being morally questionable.
if you could find a way to debug her so good Minthara works for act 2 and 3 that would be a great way to keep this mod up. Even though we can knock her out and see her again in act 2 unmoded, she is still really buggy in base game. For me, she is in act 2 and I saved her from being erased in the dungeon, she wont talk to me and I cant interact with her.

I never had any problem with her in act 2 and 3. Guess I've played passed that part 6 or 8 times now, using this mod every time.
It's not "needed" since you can take her out with non-lethal attacks and recruit her later, but does provide an alternative way if you want it for roleplay reasons. With this mod she'll escape on her own if you prefer it that way.
Also with the new vanilla way, I believe if you knock her out and then long rest without taking out the other leaders first, it'll bug her out somehow. So this would probably prevent that.

Correct. Much can go wrong in the vanilla "knock-out-fight", and to play 10-40 hours more and find out that #something must have gone wrong, since she isn't at the throne room, could be a huge disappointment.
TL;DR I have thoughts! A variant of this mod that pulls away from the changes that Larian have patched in, favouring instead the enabling of some interactions that are still impossible to have in the base game for a Good Tav playthrough (namely Act 1 romance and Act 2 dialogue changes due to it).
I'd like to preface this by saying that I've been really thankful for your efforts, Rukongai, in ensuring that Minthara gets to be part of Tav's party regardless of the Act I decision. She's a fun character to have in the group, and – despite not being as fleshed out, in some ways, as most of the other companions – brings a unique experience of more nuanced morality that would be almost entirely absent if not for Tav-made decisions or Astarion's contributions. If it wasn't for these mods and the larger community's attempts to protecc her at any cost ("Sheepthara" comes to mind), Larian probably wouldn't have ever implemented the changes that have made this mod optional rather than essential (imo).
I haven't played BG3 in a while, but I've tried to keep up with patch notes and the like. It seems that Larian recognised the love that a portion of the community have shown for Mommy Minthy by legitimising the non-lethal KO approach (albeit somewhat buggily, from what I've been reading), but they've put in more or less minimal effort into making it workable, which means the player still missing out on the earliest interactions that give a little extra insight into her motivations beyond her early presentation as being a loyal follower of The Absolute.
The ways I can think of a mod like this making up for that by bringing functionality still missing from the patched base game are as follows. 1) Through enabling the Act 1 camp celebration romance (which is locked out when siding with the tieflings), which could be done with the bedroll decision dialogue (e.g. "You spot someone hiding just out of sight of the camp perimeter", etc. – a renamed version of the option to pursue Minthara after siding with the goblins); the interactions with Minthara have a lot of non-victory-specific dialogue that'd need minimal flow tweaking, and (spoiler for anyone who cares)
Spoiler:
Show
the aftermath attempted backstab scene still makes sense in the context of her trying to eliminate a threat against The Absolute.
2) For the Moonrise Towers scenes, keep everything as it already is (assuming a run where the Tieflings are saved or abandoned), but include any lines that'd make sense as a product of the Act 1 romance, if pursued, for the (more spoilers)
Spoiler:
Show
Moonrise Towers Prison torture scene, which mentions her romantic escapade, and in which she reacts differently toward Tav when they enter her mindspace.
From there onward, I can't think of any other modifications that'd be needed.
It's not quite the same as what this mod and its sister mod (Daughter of Lolth) have already been providing, and I think it's great that the other mod exists for those who want her in their party ASAP and have that option thanks to that mod, but that's where I'd go if I were looking at a future for this mod (and had anything resembling your programming chops to work on BG3 mods).
In any case, thanks again for this mod and for all the work you've put into maintaining it! ^-^
I just wanted to give some info on how the game currently stands (this mod MIGHT not be needed). Just sharing because of the main description saying the same, wanted to give more info.
I started a fresh playthrough recently. I play on a mac, which means no script extender and therefore some mods can't be added to my game (like this one). However, I do still play with mods, I just don't believe any of them would have affected anything with Minthara (so hopefully anyone playing can use the info).
My path was: nautiloid > pick up companions > make it to the grove. Told them I would find Halsin. Head out to infiltrate the goblins. I walk in pretending I'm there for absolute reasons (so no fighting yet). Scout out the goblin camp and make myself at home (so get done what you want or need to get done). Before seeing any of the leaders I went to the worg pens and convinced the goblins to let the bear out. We then attack (note make sure none of the goblins can warn the rest of the building and no one will be the wiser).
Once everyone in the pens in dead, Halsin asks me to restore balance by killing the 3 leaders. I tell him to stay put while I go do the dang thing.
Priestess Gut: can easily be killed without anyone knowing if you let her lead you away from the main area and/or let her knock you out. Will not turn the whole area hostile. Minthara: blind the eye, kill everyone before they can get to a war drum (knock out Minthara instead of killing her!!!). Goblins shouldn't turn hostile. Rog or whatever his name is: I've yet to find a way to lead him away from other goblins so this fight WILL turn the whole camp against you. I usually leave it to last and try to kill as many goblins elsewhere.
After this, play the game how you'd like UNTIL you reach the shadow-cursed lands. You MUST reach Moonrise BEFORE completing other parts (I believe I saw someone say that you should go there before going to the Shar temple and completing that whole thing). If you reach Moonrise soon after reaching Last Light, you should walk in on them judging Minthara (instead of just the goblins like all my other playthroughs). You can play this so that she is sent to the prison, and from there you can free her. As far as I can see, this is a good recruitment if you're playing "good" (as in, if you're playing evil maybe she does too, but I'm not sure). Minthara will join you and acknowledge her role in everything.
Here's the important part (for me): You can have both Halsin AND Minthara in your party. I'm not sure if this is always the case or if it's the way I went about it, but it just happened that I rescued Minthara while Halsin was sitting at Art Cullagh's bedside-- so he wasn't officially in my party yet and wouldn't be until we saved Thaniel. But I've just finally added Halsin to my party and there hasn't been a peep about Minthara. (sorry this is so long)
Thank you for this info! Just reached Minthara in Act I and on Patch 7 and was hoping to get all companions this go-round. Going to do what you suggest!
Having finished the playthrough, I will say that it's not perfect. Basically, Minthara gets a tent and Halsin just keeps standing in different places and has no tent, ever. There's also no interactions between them, but since I ended up not really liking Minthara after all, that wasn't much of an issue. I started a new campaign and ended up just killing her with the other leaders. She's GREAT if you want an evil campaign, though. She'll get attached to you and be nice (ish) to companions but she's still super blood and power thirsty.
No problem, I'm glad it's helpful!! If someone wants to post it to reddit that's fine with me. I have an account but I'm super awkward lmao. If someone posts I'm lavendermoones on there, idk how tagging or whatever works but if someone finds it helpful and wants to share that's cool.
I'm pretty sure you dont need it anymore. Turn on nonlethal attacks and knock minthara out. I did it and looted her, and I am about to find out if the patch 7 really did add that- I'm like 4 feet from moonrise lol
It already worked in Patch 6 (maybe earlier, I played the first time with Patch 6). Knock her out with non lethal attacks (melee only). And you will meet her as soon as you enter Ketherics throne room. Won't tell anymore because of possible spoilers. You will find out what to do after that ;)
