To get access to re-cast and custom bars you need to "initiate" shutters - after installing the mod move shutters to the left side one by one until you will see 4th one, move it to the left as well. after that none of shutters will ever be lost. in case of especially wide hotbars (4x25, 5x33, UW), you will get access to 5th, last shutter, to not lose it, fixate it with padlock button (unlocked state).

For those few very angry and dramatic users complaining about latest changes to hotbar structure (re-cast and custom bars on concertina). It was made because: 1) vanilla re-cast bar can get 4-5 columns in the late game for some classes, it breaks extended hotbar for those chars. 2) widget structure with re-cast bar doesn't allow to block additional shutters, due to that I've should to troubleshoot all those cases when people are losing them. 3) re-cast bar (even vanilla) has issues with aligning decor.
Changes made won't be reversed. I believe they make hotbar better, more stable, consistent and functional. If you don't like it, use older versions or vanilla hotbar. Demands (yes, there are people used to demand smth from modders), complaints how previous version was better, dramas etc will be deleted. This thread is for troubleshooting\improving supported versions.

KNOWN MINOR ISSUES: 1) 5x version filter deck (when you pressing weapon skill for example) have skills/coatings overlapping with weapon's name. 2) on old save load you can encounter slightly stretched shutters image, it will go away after maximizing number of rows and save/load. its a vanilla issue. 3) summons "common" deck slightly shifted. normally there is no practical reason to open it anyway. 4) opening and closing Custom tab by pressing it again and switching to another character and back then may lead to custom bar grid overlapping with concertina. workaround - close Custom bar with diamonds button or use custom bar directly on concertina, without opening tab.

fixed wrong grid size in 16:10 version.
added duration counter for concentration icon (Vova's idea). should help with spells now showing turns left till the spell end neither on hotbar, nor on sidebar, like Cloak of Daggers.
5.33 (Vova's edition) - mod's fork by Vova2112, added to Optional Files. Doesn't require shutters initiation, re-cast bar is static and always presented. Please, report bugs and inconsistencies if you find any. 1.5.0 - fixed wildshape shutters in 16:9, 4x25 version. other versions later. 1.7.27 - Shad0wlife's subfork of main and Vova's version added. Its main addition is contextual change of the grid size up to screen aspect ratio: 4x24 for 16:9 will turn into 4x35 when UW screen/resolution detected. That allows to use the same hotbar mod for clients with different screens without sync issues. 1.5.2 (classic fork) - fixed wildshape shutters positions and Call Forth Allies button for all versions. Old 5x33 version got another hack (kudos to Shad0wlife for the idea) - its 6x33 now (with +/- buttons now working, but in range 4/5/6 rows). 1.5.9 (classic) - updated for patch 8, added 4 more versions with autohide on by default.
NOTE ABOUT VERSIONS/EDITIONS
Classic versions (one big grid with all bars on it and no restrictions, requires shutter initiation), Vova's (re-cast bar always visible, scroll bars on concertina, additional fixes and tweaks), Shad0life's (auto-switches between 16:9 and UW, for multiplayer) are independent forks at this point. It is safe to transit back and forth to find what's best for you, except when going to wider version there is a chance you will need to reset grid and shutters with Reviver.

Easy tips on how to remove "Unlocked Icon" of Vova's Fork:
Unpack the mod, click into the files and find "GUI", then "Assets":
copy "hotbarSlot_bg_[#]" and rename into "Block_hotbarSlot_bg_[#]"(delete the original ones), do the same inside file "BottomBar", then repack and you should be good to go.
Shouldn't take more than 5 mins for the whole process.

Vova did a great job of optimizing this beloved mod, however seems very insisting on the unlocked icon.
some people, myself included, just can't be bothered of constantly locking and unlocking, hence the workaround.

I hope someone who knows can help me: After the patch 8 update, my hotbar resource UI disappeared. If it were just actions or bonus actions, it would be fine, but now I can't see my spell slot count, which is really affecting my gaming experience;Additionally, my in-game class icons are also missing. This doesn't affect the gameplay too much, so it's not that urgent...
The tests and remedial measures I have taken include: Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Improved UI and other 'better' mods (including reinstalling from Nexus and mod.io, manually deleting the pak files in the local/.../LarianStudio/mods directory), but the result was either being unable to load saves, the hotbar disappearing entirely, or the hotbar remaining but all the spell icons vanishing. Attempted deleting the mod folder as suggested by Larian's official advice after backing it up, and the spell slot UI finally returned... but having to reinstall all those mods from scratch is quite complicated... (I even have over 200 mod files in my Mod Manager list...) Does anyone possibly know what the cause of this issue with spell slots not displaying is and how to resolve it? (sorry for using translator)
you need ImpUI for patch 8 (slim) and whatever version of hotbar you use updated for patch 8. if you have better inventory UI installed, it should be lower in load order than better hotbar.
i fixed it now by removing the "better tips" and "impUI-assets" in "overrides" of ModManager... not sure if it's the cause but it's working perfectly now. thank you again for your reply and your great work on making amazing mods!
I don't know if it's an intentional new feature but since the changelog doesn't say anything about the reactions bar I'll comment. In the 16:10 classic versions, disabled reactions are still showing on the reactions bar. They were hidden in the previous version so I thought this might be a bug.
honestly, I don't yet know what to do about it. its easy to get back to old behavior, but it makes disabled reactions half-transparent instead of hiding, which might help reminding people about turned off reaction - nobody opens reactions in character panel regularly. on other hand characters with bazillion reactions will require pressing expand/collapse button more often.
What prevents you from using the unlock mode correctly? If you need to manipulate slots - enable, when everything is done - disable. I realize that many people want to see certain things based on their preferences and vision of beauty, but the mod is made by me and based on my vision. It is difficult for newcomers and visually impaired to understand the reason why sometimes lost skills or else from the hotbar because is missclick and the view the unlocked image should help them in this.
I've been seeing the little red arrows to the left of the shutter on my hotbars even if nothing is hidden. Sometimes this is only when icons are close to the next shutter, but it can also happen when icon is far from the next shutter - like the bind hexed weapon icon in image. Am I doing something wrong, or is this intended? I don't think earlier versions that these red arrow unless something was actually being hidden.
some scaled slot size versions have this issue with this red indicator, its not smth new. you can try different classic version with 100% scale slots or vova's fork, it replaces indicators with horizontal scrollers.
I am greatly appreciative of the 1.15x low vision version. One of the reasons I avoided getting BG3 was because of the icon size. Up until I got a new monitor, I would not have been able to play without your mod. I don't know why Larian never added options for that, so it's nice to have someone who actually cares.
