Hello, it's great to see another translation in progress for this fantastic game. Good luck! Could you please share name of the tools you're using in the process?
I'm interested in translating the game into my language and would appreciate any suggestions.
I'm glad to hear that you find the game fantastic!
To answer your question, I used LSLib to create the translation files for this game. I would like to suggest that you avoid distributing loose files, since they take up more space and clutter the game folder, however it is fine while you are testing your translation before any release. Archived files have the added benefit that they perform faster than loose files and keeps the game folder more organized, especially when you have multiple mods.
I don't know if it works with Vortex. You install it by extracting the folder named 'Localization' into the data directory. A file named 'english.loca' should now be in "Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Localization\English".
Got it to work, but it is so bad translated, I guess, it is AI generated or google translate that done it, or somebody that don't know Swedish. So I uninstalled it, could not play with this bad translation.
Yeah, I’m sorry, mate. I want to be transparent about my workflow. I batch-translated all the text in the game using Google Translate and then made manual adjustments afterward. Since there’s a huge amount of text in the game, there’s a good chance you encountered some text I haven’t fixed yet. I’m sorry about that.
To any visitors. Swedish translation mods are rare, I'm actually surprised to see this one here in Baldur's gate of all games. I believe the reason they are so rare has to do with a couple different factors. Sweden is a rich country that puts greater value and equality on the individual as well the individual wealth regardless of if you are a worker or not. We have great freedom and unfiltered access to the internet. We learn English as secondary language. Pair these up and you have a youth that's very adept with English. It also helps that a lot of our words are borrowed from English, we use the same A-Z + Å, Ä, Ö in our alphabet/vocabulary. Sweden isn't a big country, but I don't believe this to be the main reason. I've had experiences watching non Swedish streams where a good portion of viewers are Swedish. There may also be some other reasons why, but it really just boils down to how we (mostly the youth) is encouraged to learn the language, decreasing the need for translations. Our structuring isn't too different either. We could certainly give it an effort to translate something to English, but the demand for this is likely very low for all the mentioned reasons and the target audience for games ranging between teen to middle aged. Baldur's gate may be an exception due to the fact it's based on D&D, which is old but appreciated by many, even those not interested in gaming. Personally, I will not touch anything written in my own language online, but I do have a strong sense of appreciation whenever anything Swedish takes the spotlight (as I'm sure many Americans feel for their country, for example)
Yes, the mod is still in progress. Thank you for offering to help with translation, I appreciate your interest and willingness to assist. If you'd like, I can share the two files I have (English patch 9 file and the translated file) with you. Thank you again!
