Enemy variant works only on enemies. Allies and other characters are safe from the spell (B). Character variant works on any NPC, so on your allies and neutral NPC also (A).
I was so excited when i saw it coz i confused it with prismatic spray - i DESPERATELY wish they'd add at least prismatic wall, i know spray version would be so complicated but i LOVE my prismatic spells! Anyway, thanks for empowering this lackluster spell! ^_^ You are a seriously clever minded modder hey.
I think without advanced scripts this is impossible. My every mod has many options, so to make it work I need to create Mod Configuration Menu where you can adjust options.
I fully understand you, I have the same problem. Even BG3 Mod Manager is not enough to keep all this mess under control. I hope I will find method to add my own options to gui.
I would go with enemy for Spray. During tests, I used in on Scratch and whole camp was fighting with each other (what a strange AI). Unless there is a specific quest that needs it to use on non-enemy, there is no reason.
Sleep is good to use on any character, there is no reason to restrict it to enemy, since this is target spell and you can use it during stealth to do some nice combos (I was using it in BG city on NPCs and no one noticed ).

Unrelated, any plans for enhanced Grasping Vine and Phantasmal Force?
What do you recommend, Character Level or Enemy Level, for both your Color Spray and Sleep mods?
Actually commented on your Contagion mod about Phantasmal Force but figured I should post the comment here since this is more recent. Cheers.
