So the issue of turning hair red after battles and such is vanilla behaviour. It happens to companions and Tav in vanilla playthroughs. Some settings in game make it more obvious. So not something I can change with my mod and not a bug with my mod.
im trying to make a custom color and in the video your merged file have 4 numbers, 0 or 1 being the fourth in the color codes. when i include them it wont pak. im trying to make #FFD829 into a hair color and im not sure what im doing wrong
Hi! Thank you so much for this mod and the template(s) you've made for the community!
I've been fiddling around with your template for a couple of hours and I can't seem to figure out this one specific issue I'm having. I created a hair color, a highlight color, and a greying color. The highlight and greying color work just fine in CC, but I can't seem to get the hair color to show up. It shows in the UI and I can select it just fine, but it doesn't actually seem to apply the color to the hair; instead, whatever color I had selected previously remains, and "choices pending" pops up on the screen. That disappears as soon as I deselect the color I added. I've double checked everything I can think of but I just can't figure it out. Do you have any ideas what could be the problem?
Hi just had this randomly happen to me when making the red hair edits. I had to start the merged section for that one hair again from scratch.
Didn't see any differences so no idea if I accidentally added a space somewhere or something.
So my advice is copy the section to another file so you still have your colour values and then copy a section again over that one in the original file and remame the edits.
not sure if this is a bug or if this is even related to your mod, but i have noticed that since patch 5 that beards are now extremely dark??? like Gale's beard looks black and i haven't even changed his hair color at all. Same with Ketheric. Anyone have any ideas what could be going on??
i'm having the same issue with Gale, Ketheric and some other NPCs having a black beard despite having brown hair, no highlights e.g. i thought it might've been this mod but i've removed it and the beards are still black. maybe someone else can help?
EDIT: i deleted my generated folder in bg3/data (had some problems with another mod and makeup edits) and it seemed to fix the black beard issue. i guess there was some leftover data from another mod. maybe it helps luckylauraloo. it was NOT a problem with this mod :)
I only edit it when needed and if I can and it works I add a new section to races.lsx in order to get them to work and be more compatible with each other. For some though it only works via adding to vanilla sections
I'm having an issue where the game itself is saying this mod isn't enabled. but it is. Also for some reason in the load order on vortex the is locked and can't be moved around the order list
uninstall vortex and use BG3mod manager instead, whoever invented vortex is pure evil, like making mods harder to install and causing troubles with the save files
the game popping up that sadly isn't something I can fix. Get that popup myself with other mods. I don't use vortex so have no idea why it would be doing that.
I was wondering if this mod actually fixes the vanilla hair colors not showing up properly. What I mean is, that brown hair is really hard to blend with the highlight color; it always ends up looking a little bit green. And red hair -- auburn or ginger hair -- always looks too red or too orange; it's hard to get a good shade. White hair (for Drow) also looks weird because the hair is not truly white, it has a bit of green mixed into it.
I'm not highly tech savvy, but I am better than the general person. Hopefully, that explains my depth of understanding well. I'm also good with digital art, and I have an eye for color. I've used various digital paint programs over some years, too.
I'm trying to utilize your Full Release Hair Colour Template This is my first time working with mods, at least regarding BG3, and whatever past mod usage I may have fiddled with is light and since forgotten. I've downloaded the LSLib toolkit and the BG3 modder's multitool. I tried watching your video: (34) BG3 Tutorial Adding New Colours for Character Creation - YouTube From the start, though, I don't know how you got to this point shown where the video begins. Is this showing the LSLib toolkit running? Was I supposed to import the template file or... I'm lost, you know? I had downloaded the previously mentioned template file of yours, but I can't seem to figure out where to start based on the information in there, either.
All-in-all, I'm not excited to learn all this properly if I could ask another favor, instead. If it's preferable by you too, would you be willing to create some hair color options based on my requests? If not, I understand, just figured I'd see if that's an option. Otherwise, could you please help me better figure out the tutorials you've provided? Thanks for your time.
Always willing to hear suggestions for hair colours.
Sadly getting into this modding can be a headache. I sometimes have to be careful when looking at the code as it can cause sensory issues.
The program I am using in the video floating above is modders multitool. Though sadly can't remember the program I used to pin it to keep it above notepad ++
I've found it hard to access some specific orange tones based on how they're set-up not just in vanilla but any mod I've come across so far. Adding highlights and graying then adjusting even doesn't cover up the problem, either.
The so-called orange in vanilla:
As seen, it's much more red than orange, and the main reason is there are literal red streaks throughout this and any other hair color with an orange base hue.
Including ginger:
And golden brown:
And finally base brown:
I didn't grab screenshots of every color with this same issue, such as the strawberry blondes, but you get the point.
A further issue is the same color is persistent when accessing highlighting colors, even the darkest of browns, anything with a warm base hue has the color red as an added streak, it seems:
You'll see it in the highlights, also. Lots of orange as the color suggests, but then red streaks throughout:
Beards and eyebrows, of course, red streaks in otherwise orange hair:
I've noticed the red streaks in your own redhead hair color mods, as well as recent ones from other users. Most other colors provided in such hair mods have overall the color you'd expect, but any orange-toned hair in this game seems to come with an added red-streak, whereas most other colors aren't so widely multicolored, so to speak.
So in-game, despite trying very hard to avoid the additional literal red tones, the red shines through the orange colors no matter what:
On softer tones like Lae'zel's hair and some others', the softer hues hide it better. But dependent on the lighting your otherwise natural looking red hair can turn a super fiery unnatural red because of the true red streaks.
And then there are characters who I think are implied to be fiery redheads who because of the way the orange and ginger hair is colored, have this radioactive, manic-panic looking orange-red hair instead of what I think was supposed to read as real-world redheaded hair color:
So basically, could you potentially just modify all the warm-toned hair options ranging from strawberry, ginger, orange, brown, and golden, to replace the red with more of an orange or brown hue to match the rest of the color? The blonde/yellow tones in the game are such true yellows that they appear almost olive or greenish, so there's no use in attempting to mix those in to blend it out as is, either. I hope this wasn't too much info, and that it all makes sense. Thank you
I can check their values to see if they have any reds being added into them. But for highlights that only uses HTML to define the colour so doesn't have any extra values being added in. However if I don't find them in the colours themselves I can have a look at the hair materials themselves to see if somehow a red hue is being added there
Hey I'm having something pop up saying that this mod was turned off in my menu. Only had it after this patch 1 update but idk what to do cause I've updated it and reinstalled it anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it? My dark urge needs me
Seems Patch 1 some have had issues where they have had to re-apply their mods, sorry that it sounds like that didn't work for you. Another attempt could be deleting the modsettings.lsx loading the game so it generates a new one and then trying to apply mods again.
hopefully that works but will look around and see if anyone found other ways to fix it
Thanks I'll try that and see if it helps. I deleted it and the message still popped up but I continued into the save and everything looks fine. I risked it for the biscuit and came out safe so far but I'll let you know if that changes. The hair looks black and beautiful as ever ♥
Would it be possible to add the default drow White 1/Grey 0 colours with both black and white eyebrows as options? Grey eyebrows kinda disappear on drow that aren't really pale or dark.
