I was wondering if this only disables fast travel using the map, or also disables fast travel using portals.
One of my most desired mods, and one that no one has done yet, is to disable "cheat" fast travel, which is using fast travel in the middle of nowhere, but keeping fast travel when using a portal, this way you have to move to a portal to be able to travel to another. It is a realistic mechanic and that is why I would like to have it in a mod.
I'm assuming that this does not block fast travel to camp, right? IMO that aspect of fast travel breaks immersion more than standard fast travel.
If you wanted to block fast travel to camp in this mod, I saw another mod that creates crystals you can fast travel between. Perhaps your mod could create a crystals (or better yet a campfire or something) in each zone that corresponds to an "official" camp location. When the party slow travels to the crystal and clicks on it, it takes them to the real camp.
As others have pointed out, slow travel is not that immersive when the world has been emptied of life. I know there's at least one mod that will generate random monsters to fight. I didn't try it b/c it sounded like it generated them in a somewhat janky way, but it might be something that could fit well with an add-on like this.
Cool that it exists for those who want it, but I can't help but feel it's just a waste of time since enemies don't respawn? Doesn't this just make travel take longer between waypoints?
Yes, I thought exactly the same. It's a bit pointless somehow. I try to only fast travel between 2 portals, and not do that from nowhere but ... once an area is cleared, there is basically 0 danger to move from point A to B.
Actually I think it’s better with fast travel, I guess some people want the game to be more faithful to its predecessors. IMO in those not having fast travel wasn’t as bad since you basically had perma haste and could travel from any map to any other directly.
Thanks for that, but I can't make it work! Added to Mods folder, it shows under "Overrides" section along with Modfixer and removedminimapversion (though they work)... then export order to game, but nothing. Anyone had this issue?
I don't have a Ko-fi. I just make some mods in my free time (which is pretty rare lately). I had some bigger projects planned for the last 2 months, but I have been too busy and the lack of a proper modding tool doesn't really help. So, for now, I just make some smaller mods from time to time.
A nice addition for those that wanna smell the roses and admire the scenery more than getting to the end of the game, and as hideaki411 says, for those with less self control :)
