Version 1.3.4: Since people love Shovel's insults and voice lines so much, I added them to all spell casts. Normally (in vanilla) only re-summoning her adds the database entries back so she says things. This is why many felt like she talked less with my mod, because you werent forced to resummon her every long rest.
Now the database entries are set on every turn in combat. Note that her voice lines still require combat. Version 1.3.0: Remade the mod in the toolkit. Added Osiris scripts so companions actually level with you. Reworked most abilities and passives to be more balanced, more fun and better fit my style of mods. Please understand that this was one of my very first mods and ever since I changed what I value in my mods and I have gotten much, much better at making them.
I am so happy I decided to stick around and track this Mod cus this is just the best mod for my little baby scratch and my little s#*! shovel. I love you and thank you so much for this
Would it be possible to add voice lines to Shovels Vicious Mockery? I would say that NPC_Female_1 (Sazza VA) are close enough, example: https://youtu.be/QhA1NwgnFN8?t=5931
Figuring out voicelines for Vicious Mockery is the holy grail of modding. That s#*! is so deeply hardcoded noone has figured out how it works, why it works or anything. Thats the entire reason Shovel gets the ORIGINAL, full-strength vicious mockery rather than a minor version.
So, I would love to do it, but I would need to reverse engineer it in Osiris scripting without being able to see how it was originally added.
While I dont see a way to add specific voicelines (e.g. of the female npcs) I can add the shovel-specific voicelines to her spells, the ones she uses randomly in combat or when she casts scare.
So, I have no clue why Shovel's dialogue broke, but I copied his root template entry again, added my new spells, no other changes, like I did originally, but somehow it seemed to have fixed it. Let me know if shovel yells at enemies in combat again, definitely did for me.
Hey there! So, I'm running into an issue where none of their hp is increasing as my party levels up. I looked at the file, and perhaps there is something wrong with the mod properly pulling "owner.level"? Is anyone else running into this issue? The additional skills and stuff seem to be working fine...
I think scratch's damage is OP in this, the double and triple attack is too much and I think he should be limited to just 1. Level 5 spell Elementals will do like 20 damage with their multi attack meanwhile scratch is pumping out 40 damage per turn. However, I think shovel's and scratches HP should be switched, to make him a bit more of a support pet while shovel is more of the glass cannon. Maybe his Help could be turned into a healing ability that can only be used in combat (to prevent free out-of-combat healing), where he can lick someone to heal them for a bit and still remove the debuffs like help normally does and his inciting howl could give like 5 temporary HP?
Then don't use it. The creator made the mod the way they wanted it, not to make you happy. If you don't like aspects of the mod then simply don't use the mod, or make your own if you think you can do better.
Well I'm just suggesting changes to make the mod more fair and balanced and not so overpowered. I get that I shouldn't use it if I don't think its perfect, So I have already stopped using it for 2 months now. The creator tagged the mod themselves as "fair and balanced" and not a "Cheat" mod when it feels like one by making Scratch basically a free powerful fifth party member. I doubt I could do better than Syrchalis since Syrchalis is amazing rebalance mod creator, but this one is too powerful compared to the others.
You can always go into the file and edit the character.txt settings yourself to remove the extra attacks...plus, a mod like this is also built for someone using additional difficulty mods. I can safely say that with mods that increase AC and health of enemies, that 40 damage becomes pittance due to the much higher health, and often doesn't even hit
It could be true, however Scratch is actually the least powerful of the three (main) pets. Reason I didnt rebalance this was because I just never get to test it really. Scratch is so squishy later in the game, its really hard to bring him. That was the main idea behind it, that he is extremely fragile. Of course, a level 6 aid + heroes feast can give him a lot of bulk, but even then he shouldn't be able to survive and dish out tons of damage.

Reusing the current voice lines seems like a good solution.
Edit: my bad, nexus bugged and posted my question 3 times
