With thanks to zebirdbath, this mod has now been updated. Unique Tav is no longer a hard requirement. Options for all facial hair and Unique Tav or vanilla override are contained in one file for download.
Mod is working great for me, even after Patch 7. I'm using the goatee Vanilla version. I'm not using it for my Tav, but I can give the goatee to my companions using Appearance Edit + the mirror.
Perhaps this will help other commenters: 1) Open up the zip file: You'll see several folders, one for each facial hair pattern. I chose 'discreet goatee'. Open up your chosen folder and you'll find two more folders: Unique Tav and Vanilla. I chose Vanilla. Underneath Vanilla, you'll find a Data folder. Open it up and you'll find a Generated folder. 2) Find your own "Baldurs Gate 3\Data" folder. It should contain folders called Generated, Localization, Mods, Public, plus a bunch of .pak files. Copy the Generated folder from step 1 and plunk it right inside your Baldurs Gate 3\Data folder: Windows will give you the option to merge your copied Generated folder with the local Generated folder; say Yes. 3) To confirm that you've done it right, check this folder path on your computer: Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Generated\Public\Shared\Assets\Characters\_Models\_SharedAssets\SHARED_Atlas\Resources\ You should find this file in that folder: Skin_Atlas_Head_SHR_Tattoo_A_MSK1.dds If the file is there, the mod has been successfully installed. 4) Now, boot up your game and either make a new character or take your existing character to the Mirror. The new beard does NOT show up in the Facial Hair section; it's a tattoo, so go to the Body Art tab and look at the tattoos. Choose the "Sinner Cheekbone" tattoo: It's on the far right, 4th row, with a bit of writing on the cheek. The mod replaces that tattoo with the beard, so choose that tattoo, and you should get your beard. The color is NOT tied to your hair or beard color, but you can customize the color just as you would for any tattoo.
Note that this mod will NOT be compatible with most mods that edit/replace tattoos. Even mods that replace different tattoos will usually be incompatible. Also, if you're using the Vanilla (not Unique Tav) version, ALL npcs that use the Sinner Cheekbone tattoo will instead have the beard, though this tattoo seems to be reasonably rare so you shouldn't see it often.
So I got this to work , but only seems to show on New game options. If I load an old save file and use the mirror it doesnt appear. Is there a work around for this? I didnt want to have to start from scratch
Sorry, English is not my native language.I have a question about the installation, I'm a bit new to this but I think I'm doing it right. I download the modification, I go to the downloaded folder and select the beard I want, the vanilla version in this case instead of Unique Tav because I don't have Unique Tav (it says it's not a requirement), once I have the "beard" Selected, I grab the Data folder of your mod and move it to the Data folder of BG3 by simply dragging it there. Am I wrong, am I missing something?
First of all, great Job! When I found this mod I was really excited (never understood why there were only beards and no simple "unshaved" choices). Unfortunately, I cannot make it work. I read all the comments, even tried with no other mods. There must be some other mod, that overides it. Can't figure out which though. It's a shame, cause this mod is really unique! I'll keep track of it. From the pictures, it looks awesome!
please make this a .pak file if you can, or upload an installation video. even without unique tav required, it's very confusing. I've been trying for a while now with no success. it looks amazing, and I'd love to try it.
I'm definitely following instructions but cannot got this mod to work unfortunately. I've tried various hair styles with Unique Tav.
*Edit - fixed the problem - it was an old version of the the Ellian's faces mod. Some other face mods don't show the stubble tattoo either for anyone else having difficulties.
For real, you should get someone to help you make unique pak files that add tattoos to the others that are already available, the beards in the game are horrible and patchy, they need something like this to mask it, lol.
