Draconic Sorcerer Gear

Features

This mod adds a set of gear tailored to draconic bloodline sorcerers. Visuals for humans, elves, drow, half-elves, tieflings, and half-orcs (all body types) are available at present, with the rest currently in process.

This mod started as a small concept: I wanted cool gear for my draconic bloodline sorcerer Durge. No wizardy robes or hellish armor, but rather something more fitting for a caster descended from a dragon. It was supposed to be a simple mesh replacer. All I can say is one thing led to another and...

Gear
There’s a full set of gear with custom visuals (two variants for the body, handwear, footwear, and headwear for every body type) made from in-game assets.

Five variants of the set exist with different stats, one for each of the elements associated with the bloodlines:
  • Fire Dragon’s Set (Red/Gold/Brass)
  • Cold Dragon’s Set (White/Silver)
  • Lightning Dragon’s Set (Blue/Bronze)
  • Acid Dragon’s Set (Black/Copper)
  • Poison Dragon’s Set (Green)

Stats
See images for the stats of each variant. Each has its own stats, custom spells, and custom passives made to interact with its element. The stats are that of late-game gear, and so it will be overpowered in the early game. I might make a version with less powerful stats in the future, but for now, it's not at the top of the to-do list.

A note about the fire set: I dislike the Heat mechanic in-game, an opinion I came to after playing around with it in many battles. Thus, the fire set doesn't have any passives that make use of that mechanic. I like the passives I gave it better than any Heat-based passives, but if anyone would like a set that makes use of Heat, let me know in the comments and I'll add it to the to-do list.

Ideas for boots: The boots of the fire and acid sets don't currently have an element-specific passive, mainly because I like Unwavering and I wasn't sure what to give them. If anyone has any ideas, let me know in the comments! Same goes for any stat-related ideas—I'm open to discuss suggestions and potential passives/spells.

Customizing the Stats Yourself: If you would like completely different stats or don't want to count on me changing something, you can unpack the mod, edit the Armor.txt, then pack the mod and use that edited .pak file for your personal use.

Acquiring the Gear
In the main version, the gear is only available in the tutorial chest. When making a new game, it will be in there in a pack (Dragon’s Backpack). For ongoing saves, use Tutorial Chest Summoning by wesslen to summon the chest and acquire the backpack. Within the backpack, there are six packs, one for each of the sets and one with camp clothes variants of the clothes and footwear.

In the vendors version, the gear is available in the tutorial chest and at the following vendors:

  • Custom icons and VFX for the Draconic Presence spell on the circlets

  • Stat variants for the gem draconic bloodlines provided by Malady's Descendants of the Gem Dragons

Known Issues

  • The physics of the bottom dangly bit on the clothes is a bit wonky sometimes, but with current knowledge of the physics system and how it works, this is as good as it's going to look. (And it mostly looks good! Just sometimes it gets caught on a leg or jitters a little weird.) If something changes regarding how physics work and I can make it look better, trust that I will be on it like Sonic.
  • I wrote Armored/Armoured in both ways across the localization. Like a dumbass. And a few other small spelling errors. Pls ignore them. They make my eye twitch enough for all of us. I'll fix them in the next big update.

Compatibility

Not compatible with mods that change the vanilla bodies. This mod was made using the vanilla body, and edited bodies will clip through the gear.

Everything else should be compatible as far as I know. I'll update this section if incompatibilities come up.

If any patches break anything, I'll make a sticky post in the comments and let you know the mod's status there, along with any other announcements about the mod.

Installation
I recommend the BG3 Mod Manager, but Vortex should work fine as well. Since I don't use it, I won't be providing instructions on how to use it.

  • Download the file using the Manual Download button and save to wherever you like.
  • Start BG3MM.
  • Drag and drop the .zip file onto the left hand side of the window. BG3MM will automatically import it and place it in the Mods folder.
  • Adjust your load order by dragging and dropping mods. It shouldn't matter much where this mod is in the order, as it isn't dependent on any other mod.
  • Save your load order by clicking the save button in the top row beside the Mod Order label, or by going to the upper left hand side of the window and clicking File, then Save Order.
  • Export your order to the game by clicking the icon next to the Export label, or by going to the upper left hand side of the window and clicking File, then Export Order.
  • Launch the game and enjoy!

A second method is explained here at the BG3 Wiki, but I find the one explained above easier and faster.
