Old guy here. Belm was a meh weapon in BG2 as well-- it's just a named Scimitar of Speed (+2). Decent when you got it (generally early in Shadows of Amn), when you didn't have much magical gear, especially for druids. But outclassed by the end of the game, and completely outclassed by Throne of Bhaal, when everyone is rocking +5 or +6 gear. The question isn't why Belm is so meh, but why Jaheira kept it for a hundred years.
hey, ur probably not old. and thx for the history lol. and yeah i can see it being like a keepsake or something for Jaheira. I just wished it was stronger because it is kinda hidden away. havent played the old baldurs gate games obviously. maybe in the future when I stop caring about graphics in video games, ill go and replay all the games ive missed out on lol
Belm was one of the best weapons in the game. It was mediocre as a mainhand weapon, but in the offhand it was god-mode. You only got one attack with an offhand weapon, but belm granted an extra attack to your main hand weapon. This meant an extra vorpal attack with the silver sword, an extra stun with Celestial fury etc. In BG2 NOTHING meant more than apr (attacks per round).
Exactly this. You could reach 10 apr a few ways - one being Greater Whirlwind epic feat, the other being fighter levels + bonus APR offhand + improved haste (edit: also proficiency bonuses, and a certain magical item if you were multi classed instead of dual). GWW was technically better because all attacks were made with the "good" weapon, instead of only 8 (2 went to the offhand). But the advantage was obviously the longer duration.
To the mod author: iirc the warlock's extra attack stacks with other sources of bonus attacks, so it might be a better passive to use instead.
No. It is in Jaheira's Home in Act 3. But you can add it using the Script Extender Console: TemplateAddTo("d60524f4-583e-4b16-91b2-871221d441cf", GetHostCharacter(), 1)
Thanks I should have guessed that there. I've just finished up with Act 2 and saved Dame and killed Myrkul. So I'll get there soon. I'm glad you changed it because the original weapon was pretty weak to say the least. The damage and such was more on par with a 1st level weapon.
But why remove Whirlwind Attack? It's a really rare weapon action that only one other weapon in the game has. Much more interesting than Ensnaring Strike. Other than that, good mod.
Oops the image cropped out all the weapon attacks. Whirlwind is still there. I didn't remove it. The image just doesn't show that section. Also I put Ensnaring Strike because it seemed to fit her theme regardless of whether or not it's "interesting"

Love your changes though.
