You access the link above ,download the tool ,add it in a folder somewhere (i have it on my desktop) ,open the tool ,go to configuration give it the path of the bg.exe then unpack the mod archive and then drag and drop the .pak file into the highlighted area in the tool wait a few seconds for the tool to do it's thing (it will say unpacking completed ) then it will create another folder named unpacked mods inside the folder you created for the tool itself ,inside it you can explore the unpacked mods (in case you're curious how mods are made) then explore it until you find a folder named " story " delete that ,go back then drag and drop the " mod name " folder back into the tool wait for it to do it's thing then it will generate a new .zip archive which you will add into the mod manager and you're good to go . I used this method to fix a few other mods that had mod fixer issues and weren't updated like the bags bags bags mod for example .
I found an minor issue. Detect Thoughts uses Wisdom only (not even sure why, I guess it's the cleric spell?). As a Wizard, I have a -1 and fail every time. That is, I assume I fail, because the conversation just ends immediately. Sometimes they go hostile, sometimes they don't...I've never successfully read a mind yet, tried maybe 4-5 different instances.
EVERYBODY: Be aware that this mod will corrupt your save game, causing you to not be able to progress beyond 5th level characters, not to mention crashing, as described in various comments below.
It seems to be abandoned, and if there were some way to report it so that others don't lose 40 hours of gameplay, I would.
Best alternative is to get the Faerun Utility mod, and spawn the appropriate scrolls/potions, OR... grab the various mods that make these abilities permanent passives (much more convenient) by MaskedrPGFan, such as Speak with Animals Enhanced, OR.. for even more convenience, grab Rituals For RP by Sapphire.
Does removing the mod and loading a save from before the ring is generated fix the level up issue? Kind of dejected I would have to start a new game (again) if that was the case, but I'd rather it be at the start of Act 1 than hours later.
Edit: Answering my own question: I used the "Level Up Quick" mod to automatically level up to level 11 without the mod, and there was no error. So this seems okay at first glance. I don't reproduce the level up bug if I load my save with the mod on. So, either I'm lucky enough to not be impacted, or mods that allow you to change your level can fix the bug somehow.
I found this mod already in Act 2 and the druid trader is gone. Would it be too much to ask to create a version where it summons from tutorial chest or a different merchant?
