Hi, I've always been interested in the RAW Plant Growth, but it's inconvenient to expand the range so that it will be burned all at once. Is there a way to change the nature so that only the part covered by other burning surfaces will burn? For example, only the range after the fireball hits, or the range of the explosion, etc.
And is it possible to give a small range of clearing spells after using the spell? No action is required, and it can be used repeatedly. To simulate that it can specify an area that is not affected by the spell. (For example, it is used to give teammates a path to move)
I did some experimenting with this the last time someone asked about it, a sculpt/clean is on my to-do list, affecting how it burns is either impossible or just beyond my abilities.
Thanks for your reply! According to this, another solution that does not change the nature seems to be: after casting the spell, plants do not grow immediately, but first generate an invincible surface (such as a green cover prompt?). During this period, you can use the clearing to first clear some of the surfaces that will come into contact with the flame. After your turn, the plants will grow on the remaining surface. I wonder if it is possible to achieve this? If it is difficult, implement it according to your idea. I will not urge you, and I look forward to your better implementation of this spell in the future!
The spell description specifies that you can exclude areas within the AoE. Adding that would make the spell so much better. This is mainly because there is bound to be a torch somewhere...
If you could somehow add this feature, it would be much appreciated.
An idea as to how it could be practically implemented: Look at the spell Sky Burst from the mod Homebrew Spells https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/473 It lets you spread out patches of AoE.
Another idea would be to look at Prestidigitation from 5e Spells https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/125 It lets you clear patches of a surface effect. So maybe if it's possible to delay the catching on fire effect and give a free casting of this cantrip, it would be even closer to the original.
Obviously I've no idea how hard this would be to implement. But you asked for suggestions :)
I did indeed ask for suggestions, and I hadn't thought of either of these mods. I just considered Sculpt Spells which can't be applied to Plant Growth. I'll check those out, thanks!
Progress update: - Sky Burst uses Script Extender so that's beyond my abilities to deal with - Prestidigitation looks like it could work, and I have an idea that I'm testing but all it does at the moment is let me cast Crash The Game at 9th level
(yes I made this post just so I could say I learned how to cast Crash The Game)

This seems to make this spell interesting!
