My attempt to make War Domain Clerics much stronger and more viable as a pure class.

Made this mod because I wanted to play a campaign as a pure War Domain Cleric but found the class immensely lacking, so I made some changes to how it functions.



War Charges
  • Now restored on short rest as well.
  • To prevent level 1 dips into War Domain being too powerful and to nerf early game performance a bit in general, you now get 2 charges at Level 2 instead of starting with 3 at Level 1.
  • New Charge progression is as follows:
  • 2 at Level 2
  • 2 additional at Level 5 for a total of 4
  • 1 additional at Level 8 for a total of 5
  • 1 additional at Level 11 for a total of 6
  • Using bonus attacks granted by the charges no longer requires a bonus action.

Sadly I was not able to find a way to make War Charges scale with the character's Wisdom modifier, so they will still scale with Cleric level for the time being.

New Feature
  • You gain a unique version of War Caster at level 5, granting advantage to concentration rolls and a reaction allowing you to cast level 1 inflict wounds on a target moving out of melee range (the description still mentions shocking grasp, maybe one day I will learn how to make new descriptions). I haven't tested this reaction but as far as I can tell should it work fine, please report if you encounter any issues.
  • You can pick a fighting style from the same list as Paladins (that is not including Archery and TWF) at level 3.
  • (OPTIONAL) At Level 11 you gain an upgraded version of Extra Attack, letting you attack a 2nd time with no additional cost and a 3rd time at the cost of a War Charge. This is a huge nerf compared to the previous version of the mod where you got this feature at Level 5 but nevertheless I left it out of the main version.

I'm not sure how balanced this is, but I tried to not make it too strong.

The localisation is not changed because I'm too lazy to find out how to do it, so you will still see the game saying you need an extra action to use War Charges and some other minor things.
I tested it on an existing save and it seems to work fine as long as you respec after installing the mod.

To install drop it into your mods folder and activate with the Mod Manager, requires Full Release Mod Fixer as well.

I have never uploaded any mods before so I would welcome any feedback or criticism.
