Added a new function, being glowmaps! By default a limited amount of glowmaps can be found in the settings, I highly suggest making your own glowmaps to further customise your Tav! Find the templates in the download section!
Hello all! I'll be updating the page to reflect the big change in an hour or 2!
In the meantime, what you need to know is that Trips and I have collaborated (except it was mostly Trips doing the rigorous work of programming the UI and adding the new features!). Her MMM from Whispers of the Divine: Aasimar was adapted from my BTS code and is now being made available standalone as a replacement for BTS. Think of this as BTS 3, but it's basically done from the ground up outside of a few bits here and there.
What this means for existing users: please remove BTS from your load order and delete the pak file in your Mods folder under AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3. Your existing save data for BTS won't be compatible, but I promise it'll be worth redoing your characters' tattoos! You can now use 3 different atlases for body tattoos, face tattoos, and even makeup, and switch them on each individual character! We've added a few more colors (and in the future, we *may* be able to add a color picker).
The biggest change of all is that the spells are gone, and instead you'll have a menu appear when opening the Magic Mirror!
Update 8: So, I sort of got this to work. I was able to choose File 2 for what I wanted. It didn't show. But when I made a change to say make-up, hair, or face tattoo in the character creator... THEN IT SHOWED, and I could choose the choice I wanted with make-up and/or face tattoo. However, it's a pain in the ass with body tattoos, because every change requires the change of make-up or face tat or hair in character. So, know what tattoo number and file and set it, then do a slight change in character creator (you can always go back).
It definitely needs an update, but at least it sort of works.
Yes, you need UTAV. If I were you, I would install the Unique Tav Data folder, and then use the pak file from Kaz Virtual Tav instead of the one on UTAV page. This supercedes UTAVS dependency on Trips Shader Pack, so you wont need that if you use Kaz. It is also more performance friendly.
You also need to install the Body Tattoo Variant file on UTAV page.
Then install a tattoo or atlas, and make sure that MMM is directly below UTAV in load order. If you want multiple atlases or individual tats, you can rename the dds files.
There is a description of how on the MMM page.
Hope this helps! I just recently went through all this, but I was able to get it all working. It also helps to install Respec and Magic Mirror so you can test everything as soon as you start the game. When you cast the magic mirror spell the menu should pop up. I also posted a slightly more detailed guide on the post below this one.
You do NOT need Unique Tav despite what Valdoff96 says. I do not have Unique Tav at all nor the Virtual one. To use the tattoos and extra make-up, put the files in here: ...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\ Data\ Generated\ Public\ Shared\ Assets\ Characters\ _Models\ _SharedAssets\ SHARED_Atlas\ Resources
I actually downloaded the original default files from Trips Shaders (I believe) so I could get the correct file structure.
Makeup options should be named: Skin_Atlas_Head_SHR_Makeup_A_MSK2 - Keep A either as default, or one that you don't care if NPCs use. Skin_Atlas_Head_SHR_Makeup_B_MSK2 Skin_Atlas_Head_SHR_Makeup_C_MSK2
Tattoo options should be named: Skin_Atlas_Head_SHR_Tattoo_A_MSK1 - Keep A either default, or one that you don't care if NPC's use. Skin_Atlas_Head_SHR_Tattoo_B_MSK1 Skin_Atlas_Head_SHR_Tattoo_C_MSK1
Also note if you use this for tattoos, I would recommend grabbing the template file for this, or download ones made specifically for MMM.
If you use this method, you can also use the optional tattoos and makeup for the companions as well as Tav. If you use Unique Tav, you cannot use the options for the companions. Also, using Unique Tav, if you have modded heads that don't have a patch for it, those heads don't work. This is why I figured out how to get MMM to work without Unique Tav.
Oh that's cool that you can use it for face tattoos and make-up w/o UTAV, although, you DO need UTAV to use body tattoos and you need MMM to switch them. Don't know if I would ever use MMM without UTAV, but it is nice to know that it can be done.
I don't use UTAV for tattoos, and it works for me. I made my own tattoos for my Tav. You just have to save them in the UTAV folder. But you absolutely do not need the UTAV file enabled for MMM to read it, just the folder structure. I also throw the same ones in the regular shared file so I can use it on the origins - granted they don't always work for them.
I personally haven't tested it, but below others say it's not working. This is only one of two mods I have that I am waiting for an update, and then I'll have everything working again from my old load order!
Hello, my dumb self cannot for the life of me figure out this mod. is there ay possbility for someone to like give me step by step instructions? i have unique tave and have the MMM at the bottom of the list but the tattoos do not show u[ and neither does the mirror window. I apologize for being dumb and what not. Thank you.
So, I'm just figuring out how all this works myself but I have been slightly successful. Here goes:
First, ensure that you've installed Unique Tav correctly, and then make sure the MMM mod is directly after the unique_tav.pak in the load order.
Next, I then installed a mod called Respec and Magic Mirror, which gives a spell to use Magic Mirror. When you enter the Magic Mirror, the MMM should pop up. Now, having all that adds the proper functionality, but you still need tattoos. If you go to the UTAV page, in the optional files there is body tattoo variants. There is also a YouTube video showing this process for Unique Tav.
Next, find a tattoo or tattoo atlas that you like that is compatible with MMM (It will say on the mod page that it is compatible with MMM or Body Switcher Tattoo, as it was previously named. You can look at requirements on the MMM mod page to see a list of a few that are compatible.) You should start with the Body Tattoo variant which is an optional file on the UTAV mod page. Steam/steamapps/common/BaldursGate3/Data/Generated and so on and so forth is where the tattoo files are. Simply overwrite the Generated or Data with the folder you get from the tattoo mod, if it's a Data folder you overwrite your Data folder, if its Generated, overwrite your Generated folder.
A lot of the compatible mods come with a Generated folder; in which case you can just overwrite the Generated folder in the Data directory.
And last, in order to make use of the multiple atlases you have to rename the DDS files. There is a description of how to do this on the MMM mod page. You simply change the letter A in the DDS file to B or C. You can have 3 different DDS files for Body Tattoos, Face Tattoos, and Make up, and you can switch between these in the MMM in game by selecting the atlas buttons.
Personally, Ive only been able to get two Body tattoo atlases to work at the same time, but that provides like a hundred options for tattoos. I was able to get 3 different Face atlases going.
So every now and then the mod stops working, reverts my body tattoos and wont let me switch them back and shooting me this error in the Script Extender Console: Error while dispatching user function call: [string "MagicMirrorMenu/Client/MMM_UI_TattooSwitcher...."]:866: Property does not exist: ui::DCWidget::StartCharacterCreation - property does not exist stack traceback: [C++ Code]: in metamethod '__index' MagicMirrorMenu/Client/MMM_UI_TattooSwitcher.lua:866: in global 'UpdateCC' MagicMirrorMenu/Client/MMM_UI_TattooSwitcher.lua:492: in function <MagicMirrorMenu/Client/MMM_UI_TattooSwitcher.lua:492> [C++ Code]: in ?
