Hi all! With the BG3 modding toolkit released I am going to be jumping back into this mod. It will probably be a bit before I have a version to show, as I am going to essentially be rebuilding it from scratch. There will be some changes to the class as in my first attempt, I tried to stay too close to the source material, and that caused many headaches and bugs (like the issues with skills disappearing or not working correctly). I'm also going to be attempting to minimize dependencies on other mods to potentially make this available on console as well.
I don't have any timeline since I am a college student and work, but I'm excited to get back into it.
Edit: Okay so I underestimated the mountain of work it would be to rebuild this mod in the toolkit, and I ran into an early snag on the changed implementation of blood features that doesn't really have a non-buggy solution atm. So, with that in mind, I am putting this mod officially on hiatus for now. Not to say I won't revisit this in the future, but as it stands, there are so many custom spells and statuses to dig through and debug it would take ages to get something polished. Not to mention the inherited issues that arose from converting the homebrew class from tabletop to BG3. With all that in mind, I am working on a smaller, more refined vampirism mod based on Grim Hollow transformations. To compare, the transformation added from Grim Hollow is much much less new features, but will allow me to better polish each one. For example, I have already implemented needing to be invited into restricted areas to not suffer downsides, something I could never crack when I began this class mod as it was my first and messiest. I'm sorry if this is disappointing to some, but rest assured this won't be the last vampire mod you'll see from me. In the meantime, I highly recommend you all take a look at Path of Undeath by Siaell as it seems to be the most ambitious mod in this category.
How important is Dr.Kekyll's grappling framework to this mod? Because I cannot seem to unzip that mod's file. I did ask about it on their post, but I am not sure when I'll get a reply/if there is a fix. This mod seems really interesting tho and I'd love to play it.
They use the file extension .7z rather than the universal .zip, so if you go the route of extracting and installing manually vs. using a mod manager to import the .pak, then you'll have to use 7-zip. But to answer your question in the early game and beyond, being able to grapple is very important for getting bites, and therefore blood, in combat.
I had the same issue. Grappling framework wasn't loading correctly. I found a work around in-game. I toggled the non-lethal passive for combat and feed that way after opponent is down. So far I found I use that method more often than not even with the grappling framework.
Seeing the mod development went on Hiatus, I've started from scratch working on my own interpretation of the mod that fits within the BG3 rule sets. So far it is about 35% complete on the base features, animations will come after everything is functional. Just wanted to put a post here in case anyone wanted to follow that at all. Emphasis on this being my interpretation and the class will not be 100% accurate to the written class <3
Ay good on ya! Feel free to contact me either on here or discord at yoesph if you need any help. If you end up using any of my work that's fine btw, just not the beastial model as it was made by a friend so you would need their permission.
Hello ! is there a possibility of just having the transformation? I find it stylish, even if it doesn't have everything else ^^' In any case, courage to you for your studies and all this great work, well done!
I would hesitate to recommend it currently. While I personally was able to play a game from start to finish with the class, there are many bugs that people have run into that need to be addressed. As well as balance changes as the class is a bit under tuned atm. If you really need a vampire fix, I would say my other mod may be a better option, as there are no bugs with it as far as I know.
You can build for either sex or str, and when initiating a grapple it uses an attack roll rather than a str check, but for holding the grapple you you do have to pass athletics checks each round after the first so it depends. Either is viable.
hey, are you still waiting on the official release of the tools you used to make this class to make the updates to fix any bugs? do you know what the ETA of that release would be? also would you be able to maybe create a level 21 dummy level for the class since it currently wont let me level from 19-20? i like your class and wanna use it to its highest potential :) also, the claws are causing the Ring of Gods mod from Palmaman33 to glitch and not funciton properly, is there a way you can make the claws a toggleable affect so you dont need to go through the hassle of trying to make it overly compatible with other mods? hope to hear a response and look forward to seeing how this progresses :)
No ETA, as I am just now digging into the new modding tools. The way I implemented selecting blood features is a novel concept but introduced too many instances of people not being able to use or choose the correct blood features. So I will be changing it to conform more with BG3 by removing my select blood features spell and just using a selector during level up. It should eliminate many of the bugs people are having.
If not, can we have those please? There are some very immersive interactions when you play as Astarion, for example when Shadowheart sees you use your bite for the first time. I feel for a "race" that's this dramatically different from others but also have to hide their identity, those interactions confirming what you are make a huge difference in enjoyment.
It does add those tags, unfortunately, astarion has his own special tag and adding that to the class crashes the game. With the new toolkit releasing I may try and take another look into these though.
1. Isn't this mod underpowered compared to other classes? 2. Does this class fit well with the Dark Urge? 3. Are there new dialogue options for this class? Ex. [VAMPIRE] [INTIMIDATION] I will cut your head off before you can even react.
I haven't yet tried this mod so I don't know how well it works, but it looks like a lot of work went into it, and with all the interesting theme-based mechanics it looks like not just a lot of fun but also a lot of replayability.
Is anyone else having issues with the Bite attack? It's constantly grayed-out for me, though Feed works fine. As a result I can basically never Bite anyone.
Figured out the bite issue - it's not available when you have nonlethal attacks on, which I was keeping on to feed after fights. I'm still unable to select the Ghoulish blood features however.

I have not abandoned my mods; see the sticky below for more information.
