Is there any way to remove the requirement of having the brand? It only let me get the brand on one character and I would like to benefit from this ring on another.
Wouldn't be difficult at all, but I think that kind of defeats the whole point of this ring. If you really really want to play with this I suggest just editing the brand into your character with cheat engine and pretending you got it naturally. You can DM me if you want just a version of the mod with no conditional.
Honestly, same. I am attempting to retroactively apply the brand (wasn't aware of its utility at first and have long-since murder-hobo'd the goblin camp and can't get branded naturally), but I can't figure out CE. I was able to spawn some items using it, but altering player tags/flags doesn't seem to be working. Is it possible to get a mod item that removes the branded requirement still?
I'm not sure I understand your point. The Ring of Absolute Force was just triggering on the wrong conditional. A tooltip that would fit the game's coding would be "When you deal Thunder damage, deal 1 additional Thunder damage". This mod makes it so the tooltip "When you have the Absolute's Brand, deal 1 additional Thunder Damage" is accurate to how the item works.
I'm sorry, but how exactly it would make sense that an item of the Absolute line would have no connection whatsoever with anything of the Absolute? At that point it would be a different item with a different name.
The conditional very much looks copy-pasted from a different item that has a similar effect for fire damage (with a name and tooltip that make sense for what that item does) and just never fixed. I fixed it, that's all.
Hey, not attacking anyone, just adding my viewpoint on the debate because it does make sense when comparing with some of the other items in the game. I'm copy-pasting the Ring of Fire here: Burning Fury: When dealing Fire damage, the wearer deals an additional 1 Fire damage. OP stated, "the key word is additional". However, in this tooltip this particular ring states "when dealing fire damage", which I believe to be the true condition/ "keyword". To go along with your point, the condition for your ring's condition states: when wearing the absolute's brand. It does NOT state when dealing thunder damage. It's questionable because ring of fire, caustic, and this one, are all written so similarly but ever so slightly different. It's a little vague and could definitely swing either way, but i'd like to argue that the mod creator is correct here based on the wording. I've seen other people debating the same case in threads and even youtube videos saying the ring is bugged. I like the idea of this mod a lot for builds though because there is an item in the game that puts enemies off balance and stacks penalties when receiving thunder damage. This makes your mod very enticing and i'll prob download it myself for testing purposes.
Yo @numbke, just would like to point out this exact wording appears in other items, such as the Callous Glow Ring and it is never used differently than what I suggested would be correct.
No, this is not broken like Lightning Charges and such effects. Though if you have lightning charges, because they themselves are broken, the +1 Thunder from this Ring and any other effects such as Potent Robes will be replicated.
Honestly, haven't touched modded multiplayer yet, but in theory this type of mod should work by having the host install it. I would try that first, then if it doesn't work have everybody install your mods and with the same load order.
