  1. Yes! I finally figured out how to make this work with Dx9 without FPS drops. I don't recommend this to use it with Dx11 features btw. It will have huge performance impact even if you have high end GPU. Solution is simple, you need 5.9.2 (older version of Reshade) find and install it from google. Now you can enjoy this preset graphics with 120+ smooth Fps without stuttering

So I had this same issue, (although it wasn't on a Steam Deck), and the way I fixed it was to search for the Reshade Repository. It'll be a forum on the actual Reshade website which will take you to Mediafire. I downloaded version 5.9.2 (Addon) and it started the game without crashing. Hope this helps!

Did you install ReShade for the right API? Even though I had all DirectX11 features disabled and the game showed DX9 mode, I still had to install ReShade for the DirectX11 API. Try out both DirectX9 and 11.
      Hope this helps!

make sure you downloaded the directx11 reshader, and that you enabled directx11 features in the advanced launcher, which should be one of the first options you see at the top when you open it.
    6. What if I don't want the Dx11 features ? Those things are not optimized for this port and has huge performance impact

Figured it out. Here's how you download it (Simplified best I can):
    1. Download the mod.
    2. Navigate to your Arkham City folder: SteamLibrary > steamapps > common > Batman Arkham City GOTY > Binaries > Win32
    3. Drag and drop all the .ini files into the Win32 folder of Arkham City (ReshadeEffectShaderToggler.ini, Arkham City Reimagined.ini, and Arkham City Cover Art.ini).
    4. Install the Full Addon Support version of ReShade, and run the setup.
    5. In the ReShade setup, select Arkham City if it pops up in the main list area. IF IT DOESN'T, look at the bottom right of the ReShader setup and click the Browse button. Navigate to the Win32 folder of Arkham City, and find the .exe of the game and select that. Press next, and then, select the rendering API of Arkham City (Preferably DirectX11, as DirectX9 may cause errors).
    6. Next, you'll be asked to select what effects to install. At the bottom right of the ReShade setup, click Browse. Again, navigate to the Win32 folder of Arkham City. Find Arkham City Reimagined.ini (you previously dropped this into the folder) and select it. Then, click next (bottom right of the ReShade setup). The effects should take a moment to download. Afterwards, just click next until it says you successfully installed ReShade. Then, Press Finish.
    7. BEFORE DOING THIS STEP, make a copy of the original reshade-shaders folder and save it elsewhere just in case. Now, drop all the additional files contained within the mod download (reshade-shaders folder, ReshadeEffectShaderToggler.addon32, LICENSE) into the Win32 folder of Arkham City.
    8. Now, run the game. Preferably run the game through the advanced launcher (If you installed advanced launcher, you should find BmLauncher.exe in the Win32 file of Arkham City. I personally made a shortcut of this and put it on my desktop, which is what I run the game from).
    9. The ReShader prompt should show up at the top of the screen when you launch the game, indicating its working. The intro of the game will also be much more visibly blacked out/deepfried, and the menu will have much darker lighting, so you'll know the shader is working. BE SURE YOU'RE USING DIRECTX11 FOR THE RESHADER, as DirectX9 can not only cause errors, but can make the shader incorrectly applied.
    10. Press 'Home' to open the ReShader prompt within the game, and at the top left, press on the Add-Ons tab. Tick the "Copy depth buffer before clear operation" checkbox. You may also have to tick the "Copy depth buffer before fullscreen draw calls." I'm not entirely sure if ticking the box for the resolution is important, but just in case: select the correct Depth Buffer according to your resolution (i.e. Checkmark ON the grey box to the left, next to > 0x00000000025ccf9b4 | 1920x1080 | D24S8 | 145 draw calls... etc).
    11. Should be working now! Enjoy!

NECESSARY/RECOMMENDED ADVANCED LAUNCHER SETTINGS: DirectX11 features ON, Fullscreen ENABLED, Anti-Aliasing OFF, & Depth of Field OFF.
Make sure to install .net 6 according to your PC platform: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/6.0

To uninstall: Replace reshade-shaders with the original folder that came with Arkham City, and then delete all the files that came along with this mod in the Win32 folder.
Note: This mod can highly interfere with cutscenes, and can impact performance (especially if using 2K resolution). You may have to tweak some of the settings in the ReShader menu to balance this shader.

    Issues/Troubleshooting:

    Q: My screen is black.
A: In the 'Home' menu of ReShader, look at the bottom. Look for the long blue button that says "Edit global preprocessor definitions" and click on it. Look at the number value next to RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED. If it is set to 1, set it to 0. If at 0, try setting at 1 instead. IM CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR MORE FIXES ON THIS, AS A FRIEND OF MINE IS STILL HAVING ISSUES.

Q: Pixelated screen when moving camera, "ghosting" issues.
A: Go into the ReShader 'Home' menu and enable the option that is named "DH_UBER_Motion."

Q: Detective vision is unbearable, and/or rain on menu is brown/black.
A: Remember to tick the "Copy depth buffer before clear operation" checkbox. You may also have to tick the "Copy depth buffer before fullscreen draw calls."

Let me know if you guys have any other issues! I'll try to help best I can.

I unfortunately don't know any optimal settings myself, but you could try the optimized settings, and/or lowering Tessellation Quality and Shadow Quality. You can also try searching up 'batman arkham city pc best settings' to try and figure out what to tweak.

Here are a few links that will hopefully help you:

do NOT turn off uber motion, it causes worse ghosting. u should be using the versions from this reshade and copy and replaced over so that its not the latest version installed with reshade automatically

How to use this with Redux? I installed Redux first with the Advanced Launcher, then this mod along with Reshade then replaced BmEngine.ini and UserEngine.ini and set them as Read Only as instructed, but now when I press Advanced Launcher nothing happens.

Nvm, I reinstalled the game, deleted the "WB Games" folder in "Documents" and the game launched fine again. However, the game immediately crashes after installing Reshade, and I have followed all the instructions already (Disable Anti-Aliasing and Depth of Field). Uninstalling Reshade makes everything work again.

I wonder if it has some compatibility issue with the "Faster Gliding and Special Combo Gadgets" mod since that's the other mod I have installed. But it seems unlikely.

Absolutely brilliant, the game's visuals feel unfinished without this, and well worth the fps hit on my system (165 down to 90fps). Should be a standard as a package with arkham city redux.

Just want to say that this is definitely the highest-quality Reshade preset I've experienced.  Feels like a legit modern facelift without straying too far from the original aesthetic and you even included the REST presets so the Ui isn't affected.

I know many commenters here have said they're having trouble getting it to work properly or at all, but trust me when I say it's worth the effort.

if you chose the d3d11 api when installing reshade you have to activate direct x 11 features using the advanced launcher from arkham city redux. which api did you choose? make sure to choose the api the game features or it wont work

The screenshots remind me of the cinematic trailer. Like how it updates the visuals without undermining the game's aesthetic and tone
