Hi... Great Mod. I think i did not get it from the 5 : Modify the audio in your UPK'S. I was trying to edit some sounds like combat musics to use custom ones. I did all the steps : From SFX_1.wad to wav and from wav to SFX_1.wad (I edited sounds contained in Music bank file) And now i have to use UPK and i wonder you know which UPK File ? And how to match the hex code of the orginal sound to the custom with UPK ?
So cool to see that the community has finally figured this out! Hopefully it'll be simplified over time, because as it stands, this is a lot of work (especially when I just want to change the combat sfx) and I really don't have the energy for that right now lol. Fantastic guide nonetheless!
Hi AbdAshes. I need some help. I have done everything like 1, 2, 3 and half of 4 points, reaching the Hash Convertor in your instructions and I don't know what to do. I click on the .bat file with a bunch of modified banks and hashlist.txt and it tells me (Renaming left-to-right.... Renaming complete. Current direction: forward To continue, press any key . . . . .) And that's it. The file is not modified. What's wrong?
Hey there, the Hash Convertor bat file works both ways so it can hash and unhash the names assuming you have the hashlist.txt file in the same location as the bat file and the banks. If it didn't hash the names it may have seen one of the files was already hashed and decided to unhash all files thus not changing the name to a hash value. You can try clicking the bat file again to see if it works as ideally if all files are now unhashed it will detect their names and hash the file names. If you could tell me what type of banks you're trying to modify I can check if it's in the hashlist as the txt file is not complete so if your bank name isn't in the file the convertor won't work.
Awesome! Someone finally figured out audio modding. So much potential here. My hope is that someone can eventually replace the combat sound effects with the more impactful ones from Arkham City. I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with.
Thanks, it works great and is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to ask if mono audio is a hard requirement even for music? Mono audio worked properly for me, but tested stereo audio as well out of curiosity since the original game audio is usually stereo and the resulting .wem files are still smaller than the base game .wem files. It seemed like it was working properly at first when I replaced the main menu music with stereo audio (in fact the base main menu music is surround sound which I'm sure you're aware), but my custom stereo audio cut off around halfway. Not had issues with mono audio and I have the timings matched with the base game's audio. I can stick to mono audio if it's a must, it just also means the audio quality isn't quite there so I'm curious if I'm missing anything.
Yeah, the mono was more important for dialogue as the WEMs there are already small enough so having custom audio modded for that needed mono as stereo would add unnecessary size to the WEM. For music that isn't much of an issue as like you said most music in this game is surround sound which already makes the original WEM size pretty big so you could use mono or stereo if you'd like. I use stereo for music as mono usually sounds lower quality and harder to hear but stereo audio seems to have an issue of unbalanced audio from what I heard where the right headphone plays more sound than the left. But an important thing about music is you can only use mono or stereo, unfortunately, you can't import surround sound audio otherwise the music will either be muted or if it has too many tracks then it could crash the game. Hope this helps!
I'm not really able to do anything necessary to create most types of mods, but I hope someone will do something like, add the Elfman score to the game, with the guide you gave.
Thank you for sharing the results of your skill, curiosity, and creativity. I'm sure this game's immensely passionate community will do amazing things with it!
