Somehow this mod and Perks for Warriors of the North are interacting wrong and causing my bros rather than dying, to have negative HP and unequip all their weapons. The enemies can't target them after that or walk over any of the tiles they were on.
Experiencing the same issue, did you ever find a resolution? Or did anyone else for that matter?
Edit: For further clarification, it appears that when a character is reduced to negative health, they immediately drop their weapon on the ground as though they've died but continue living and can take actions. All enemies stop targeting them, they can pick up their weapon, and continue fighting. On the post battle screen, it will show them having died, sometimes with multiple bodies, but they can still be alive in your roster. Their health will stay at a negative value for the remainder of the fight but will be healed back to 1hp post battle.
I've determined its definitely the character.nut file as removing it resolves the issue and I've been testing with just this mod installed.
I just installed it mid-game without major mods, seems to be working so far. 4 attributes per lvl up (not retroactively), new perks show up and can be chosen. I will do further testing, of course. Maybe this mod will make my full band of high leveled bros to prevail against similar human mercenary bands without 2-3 casualties each time.
I use v1.4.0.42 with all DLCs and renamed the .zip file into "mod_playerNPCequiality.zip" before putting it in Data folder (I assume this mod was made before game started to require mod archive to start with "mod_*").
EDIT: Works great! "War drums" perk doesn't have description, but still works. High leveled bros before installation got only +1 in attributes on level up. Newly leveled up bros got regular rolls instead. So far so good. EDIT2: I wish we could also have Pocket sand that southern nomads tend to spam. Although I think it's disabled because there is no way to check if we're in sand region? It would be weird to throw pocket sand on snowy map.
As a further note for those with difficulty installing this with WoTN perks; its down to the un-intuitive install order (the 'normal' way, installing this, then WoTN perks, then the patch, is wrong, as you will be left with a string file that won't account for the new perks or will just crash/freeze the game). The correct order I discovered was: 1. Get Main File and WoTN Patch from here. 2. Get the Raw .nut version of WoTN perks (the first optional download, NOT the Main File). 3. Place all three files away from the Steam Battle Bros directory. 4. Unzip WoTN perks first (WotN Perks-88-1-3-0-19-1561321124.zip) in place. It will make directories. 5. Unzip Equality's main file next (Main file-214-1-2-4-1600255720.zip) in place. It will replace some script files. 6. Unzip Equality/Perk patch (WotN patch-214-1-2-4-1600255772.zip) in place. It will replace perks.nut. 7. Update the dates of all the files. Use FS Touch or a similar program or use the manual update method noted in these comments. They must all be dated after the latest official Battle Brothers Patch (Nov 18 as of this comment). Using a program allows you to set it to 2021+ rather than today to ensure future compatibility. 8. Copy and paste all three directories (Scripts, UI, gfx) to your Battle Bros Data directory. Usually X:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Battle Brothers\data where X is your Steam drive.
After step 6, open perk.nut in a text editor and put a "gt" string before ".Const.Perks.Perks" resulting in "gt.Const.Perks.Perks", this should make the mod work.
Why this mod so not perk equality? I installed so far only the main file, without any additional files, manually updated the mod and started testing. Drums of war not have description. After a simple experiment, I found that the player's drums are much more powerful than the NPC's. https://battlebrothers.fandom.com/wiki/Drums_of_War_(15_fatigue) : Cost 6 ap and 15fat, restore 10 fat for mates. Player's Drums cost 6 ap and 15 fat, restore 15 fat for everyone. Why player battle flow restore 25% max fat? NPC battle flow restore 15% max fat. Please, since the support Perks for Warriors of the North is discontinued, we could not update its mod so as not to f*** with the patch files.
Edit: I download, unzip and updated Nut files Perks for Warriors of the North and patch it. Inventory menu don't work.
Not only the game itself is bugged, but the mods too. I extract the mod, i play, i see the perks, but when i level up i can´t choose 4 attributes, why this game is so hard to mod?
This is just hilarious, i just dowload ALL the archives, the main file and the 2 optionals, one of them was the warrior of the north perk patch, then i dowload the main mod of WoTN. I move all to the data folder, when i start a new game, my bro interface just doesnt appear like another bug of a user below us, then i delete the WoTN mod and his patch with the other optional patch of the main file. Leaving only the Main file. PD: I also download the mod hooks just in case., forgive my english
Try the save trick on both the JS script, and the .nut files.
I have never had the WoTN perk merge work just throwing it in there -- however, if you look at that mod, youll notice that the structure of the files is extremely similar. I ended up manually combining the files myself to get just the perks i wanted.
The author of this mod posted this a month ago, but many people prefer to ask "how to do it" than read the messages that are already here and that way the post gets lost.

Luckily, I've discovered an easy-peasy method of updating it: Fully extract the base zip file. Then extract the patch on top. Now, open every .nut (not .cnut) file in notepad or a similar text editor. Put a random letter a random place in it, and save. Then open it again (or have kept it open), and delete the letter. Then save it again. Battle Brothers seem to load files based on which where last edited, so doing this means the files were "edited" after the .dat files you download when the game is patched. Again, this is cumbersome, so this won't be the permanent solution, but I'm gonna stop uploading new version 1-2 times a day.
What malandrox said. Open the files in a text editor, add an 'a', remove the 'a', and then save it. This should update the file. Or you can have a script/program change the instant of update on the file.
This is *NOT* the mod authors fault. Its a stupid way battle brothers uses files -- it favors the most current files during conflicts. When the game updates, the core game files are updated. You MUST update the file dates to overpower the updates from steam.
Incidentally, this is true of all mods on Nexus for BB, aside from the modhooks ones, AFAIK.
If you dont want to do this, I'm happy to share my extracted data folder through google drive. It should work until the next update from BB devs. Just lmk

I can see the new perks, but i cant increase 4 attributes, only 3 like vanilla, so don't work as intended i suppose
