Make sure it's Python 2.7.x (2.7.0, 2.7.1 etc.) and not higher such as 3.0.0 or anything like that. Then if the mod loader asks for the Python location, navigate to where you've installed Pythong and select the python.exe. It should just work fine then.
Load mod into Steam version's root and get this Battlefield: Bad Company 2 failed to start (error code 53). and when ran as admin I get Steam Error: Application load error 5:0000065434
That's a known issue when using the Steam version. Don't use the "Start Game" button, just start the game through Steam as always. The "Start Game" button is only a QOL feature and is not mandatory to make mods apply.
The mod loader can't detect a fresh installation of Python 2.7, and outright refuses to accept it when I point it to the correct exe. I've tried the x86 and x64 versions, none work. I have another installation of Python 3, but I cannot uninstall that because I need it as a prerequisite for other programs, and that's installed directly to the my PATH and other fun stuff, so I'm not sure if that's mucking up the mod loader. Probably is, looking at the source code.
I have several versions of Python installed and never faced such an issue. Where is Python installed? C:/Python27? Try to keep the path short to both BFBC2 and Python, also make sure to don't have any weird symbols in your paths. There was one user a while ago that had issues if Python was installed on a different drive than the mod loader iirc so keeping both on one drive might help. Also, make sure Python is installed correctly, both python.exe and pythonw.exe must exist within the installation folder of Python.
Edit: what does the mod loader say when you select the python.exe/pythonw.exe?
I have python installed on a different drive because my c: drive only has so much space. I'll try installing it there. EDIT: it worked, but it strictly had to be "C:\Python27". I don't know if it doesn't like spaces but this is a crappy requirement because it wouldn't accept it being in program files.
It's no requirement. I would even go so far and say it's no issue of my tool. It worked fine for hundreds of other users before. Not sure why the tool is so picky on your system, but it must be something on your end. You're probably restricting rights/access to the path you've previously installed Python to or something like that. Btw, it's an unofficial Python rule to not install Python in the program files folder anyways cause the OS is restricting access to that folder. That's one of the reasons why devs usually install their stuff directly to C:/ or C:/Dev/. Also, I don't have Python installed in C:/Python27 and my tools are installed on other drives than C:/ and it works just fine.
When this is installed and set up, are users required to launch the game through the mod loader's .exe in order for the mods to work? Or can the game be launched normally via Steam and still have the selected mods applied?
I see an error line right on the done message and the mods that I installed do not work, what is the problem? blob:https://www.facebook.com/a2a669fd-1a5d-4524-bcb7-d95373b8da55 Above is the image describing the error
Having an issue saying the No Bad Filter mod is "Not a valid BFBC2 mod. Aborted Installation!" error and not allowing me to install it. Have Python 2.7 installed, ran as admin, am selecting the mod as a .zip.
