Hello, when I tried doing this, It greeted me with a fatal error message that majority consists of files not being found. I really wanted to play BL2, now I can't even because of this issue.
so after installing every time i alt tab it get a fatal error that i cant screenshot as all i get is the windows error sound but all of them are file name not found
Hey, it means that something either went wrong with loading the shaders or they were somehow incorrectly installed. I would suggest to try and delete 2 Shader files called "SMAA_ColorTechnique.fx" and "SMAA_ColorTechnique.fxh". Then extract them into the folder again.
To be specific, here: Borderlands 2 > reshade-shaders > Shaders
Well I'm not sure why would this be throwing an error. So my best suggestion would be to try and delete the reshade-shaders folder and install all shaders again. [Perhaps some kind of other shader is clashing with other shaders. I've had that happen before when there are too many random shaders installed]
Otherwise I'm not sure why it wouldn't work, since I just checked on my end and the file works without a problem. Thought if it doesn't work then it's not big deal.. It's just an additional SMAA.
When you download the file vivid graphical improvements 3.5. There is additional 2 shaders that you need to paste into game folder where reshade is installed. So find a folder called reshade-shaders in borderlands 2 and paste what i included in the zip file
They are installed. If you check what i said and the picture i linked the actual issue is the wrong name "SMAA'ALT.fxh" on line 119. It probably should be "SMAA_ColorTechnique.fxh"
Hello I followed the steps for version 4 and I was able to install it and it works great except I cannot alt + tab while in full screen mode. I also cannot set it to fullscreen window like I saw suggested before because the game crashes on launch when I apply that change. Any Ideas appreciated.
Well 4.9.1 is the most stable and easiest to install with least amount of issues but of course you can just uninstall it, keep the downloaded shaders and install the latest version of ReShade.
(Yes a full uninstallation has to be made from 4.9.1 to 5.x.x)
Did everything exactly to the instructions. Playing with an hexed Borderlands 2 up-to-date version. Got the 4.9.1 Reshade Version. Found Borderlands2.exe in the list. Clicked further with the Direct3D 9. Checked SweetFX | qUINT | Color Effects | AstrayFX | FXShaders | Legacy in the list.
And then clicked the specific shaders in the list: SweetFX: SMAA.fx FilmGrain.fx
FXShaders: TrackingRays.fx
qUINT: qUINT_lightroom.fx
AstrayFX: Clarity.fx
Color Effects: PD80_03_Shadows_Midstones_Highlights.fx PD80_04_Slective_Color.fx
FXShaders: MagicHDR.fx
Legacy: Deband.fx
DoF is enabled and FXAA is disabled
And dont mind the other steps. Game just won't load after im done with that. Only the launcher window with the settings and play button and whatnot appears. After clicking play the rectangular, centered picture of all the vault hunters. And then nothing happens and it crashed, steam showing me im not playing anything.
Anyone know how to solve this? Don't even get to run the game.
Hey there, sorry that this isn't working as it should be. Let's see if we can fix it.
So firstly, do you have the requirements for a ReShade? // .NET Framework 4.6.2 and higher
If you're playing a modded BL2, give it a try without hex to see if it changes anything. A quick google search also suggest that you could try either: A - reallocating your installed bl2 folder or reinstalling it B - verifying that all the files are there through steam.
Is it possible u can make a short video on installing this cuz Im following the instructions to the T and the game doesnt even bootup. The game was able to boot when i messed with the documents but when i did the reshade thing it fuks the game for somereason
Hi, sorry, I don't fully have the time to make a tutorial video of installing this right now, but I can try to assist you in getting this to work through here.
In the documents, there isn't much that I changed, I only disabled a few shaders that are originally present in the game. I'd need more information like: - What happens more precisely, does it give you any error or just does not launch the game for you at all ? - Did you install anything else on your Borderlands that could be causing this ?
Some things you can try: - Delete your WillowEngine.ini file in your documents (Incase you accidentally changed something what you shouldn't have) - If you need more reassurance if you did the steps in a more or less correct manner, you can watch this quick tutorial video (0.0-1.20) (However, you should only use it as a reference and not a full tutorial as I've writen everything down step by step.)
I just deleted N reinstalled BL2, when starting the game a [message] popped up saying "Failed the crate D3D9! This can happen if the desktop is locked. Exiting..." To answer ur questions, the game crashes after the game loads to be playable, after i clicked play on the launcher N no, i didnt even know BL2 was modable till yesterday. EDIT: its 100% reshade thats breaking my gamei installed the mod and messed with the DOCs and the game runs I know how reshade works. but ill try the willow thing, do i need to change all the things listed to false or just the first one that CTRL F finds?
Since you mentioned the error, which to be precise is more according to the lines of "Failed to create the D3D9 Device! this can happen if the desktop is locked Exiting...". I believe when you install fresh Borderlands 2 and when you install ReShade while never changing the original games resolution from 640x480, then it would automatically crash the game. So a quick possible solution would be for you to go to the Borderlands 2 Launcher then into settings and there change your game options. Most important change is the resolution. The resolution should be your monitors default resolution. To avoid any further crashes, you can also make the game fullscreen windowed because if you'll ALT+TAB while in game, it will crash it too. So setting it to that, will prevent it.
In the willow config files you can use CTRL + F to quickly find whatever option I stated there. So for example, if you're looking for "Bloom=" then type it in like that once the notepad marks it's location and then just change the value from True to False like I've writen it in the PART 1 of the installation.
Resolved in DMs: Installing DXSETUP fixed the issue. Anyone else who may experience this type of crash then try doing this: Borderlands 2 > Binaries > Redist > DXRedistCutdown and install DXSETUP.
Hi, seems like GitHub is experiencing some errors, I can't even access their site. Nor install ReShade.. Though if you're not experiencing this, and you're sure that you can't find that file (The files are in alphabetical order btw, so it should be near the top) then I can upload it on drive for you to download.
Hey there, yeah that's the same, I shortened it because it was on the files like that. To be more accurate and specific, you're looking for Color effects (Prod80)

#include "SMAA'ALT.fxh"
Shader file with that name doesn't exist
