Unfortunately, my break from modding turned into a bit of a retirement, cause I'm just too tired from work and I've forgotten quite a bit about what I did to make certain things work in this mod.
With that said, anyone who wishes to use the contents of this mod to make their own (eg Alucard's adjusted animations that use a lot less space to fit him into PoR), feel free to do so. You may also try to update this mod, ofc, but I did some pretty gnarly stuff to get some things to work, so I don't think it'll be very easy.
Apologies to the people who were waiting to play it, but at this point I don't know when/if I'll be able to update this.
But, as always, if you really want to play it, you can do so by downpatching to version 1.01 of the game before applying the mod (don't ask me how, google it).
Thanks for this dope ass mod. I'd like to share some stuff I've discovered while playing. To have for/if the day you choose to update this. I guess I'll update it with any new info I may find.
- The cutscene after defeating the Dullahan doesn't work correctly. Alucard will attack indefinitely, so you have to skip the cutscene. - The first tag attack you get soft locks the game. - Dark Metamorphoses is obscenely powerful right now. It's cheap to cast, lasts a long while, heals 8HP per hit, and doesn't require blood. With the dagger, he's effectively immortal.
I've tried to apply the patch with Delta, it says it's succeded, but when i start the game. Alucard is not int the game, just Johnathan. I tried with xDelta and i got the same error. What am I doing wrong?
You didn't mention anything about game version, so I'm gonna have to ask you this: did you read the first two lines on the mod description tab or the stickied comment on this tab...?
I forced it for this mod because I only added JP voices for Alucard (it's more work than you think to add both JP and EN voices and I prefer JP, not to mention that EN voices have the whole different voice actors issue, so people would complain that I chose this one or that one) and it's a lot more convenient like this instead of having to remember to use the code everytime you start the game.
If you played it in EN you would get a mix of silence, Alucard JP voices and random EN Jonathan voicelines (and I think a few things could even crash the game, possibly), so it would not be good.
Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it otherwise and happy holidays.
Aw, I didn't notice this mod before I updated my game. Looking at the video, it looks incredible. I hope this gets updated one day, after you enjoy PoE2 and the holidays lol. But I can still say "You did a fantastic job!" from the peanut gallery
I'll try to update it in January, unless work is too crazy (especially cause it's always crazy in February, so I wanna get ahead of that). But be sure that eventually I'll do it, cause one day I'm gonna want to replay it myself, so...
Anyway, happy holidays, sorry for the lack of a xmas present in the form of an update lol.
Not a chance in hell, unless you got money to fund weeks of work to do that. That would take a ton of work. These games aren't just emulated roms, they're ports.
And, now, with the damn new update (1.03) all mods need to be rewritten as well...
There's several reasons: a) It's my preferred version to play (runs the best, has the dual screen, looks the best, has the handy compedium etc.) and I make most of my mods for myself, first and foremost. And if that wasn't the case, I would also be modding this version, cause it's the one most people play too. In fact, the only mod I made NOT for myself was the luck fix - which I don't even use, cause I don't care about it, as I can just drop something I want, if I get unlucky. b) Although the vast majority of things are easier to mod in the ds version (especially cause they have LagoLunatic's tools and documentation), a few things are easier to do in this version IMO... And they're exactly the kind of things that allowed me to recreate Alucard's abilities here. Without an emulator adding nonsense to the memory/code, it's easier for me to understand the more complex stuff in the code, like the functionality of skills and such. c) This version just came out and it's good, so obviously I have more interest in it cause it's newer. I used to mod the ds versions back in the day too, but eventually I stopped (due to lack of time, mostly, but I also lost interest).
The only downside to it is the patches... And tbh it's a bigger downside than I was expecting, as I thought they'd be done with patches by now.
Dude, seriously thank you for the amazing work you have put into your mods. Have been trying a lot of them this past days and so far having a blast. If this is in the same quality as Charlotte in DoS, I know already it's going to be a fun and fresh experience to replay PoR. Enjoy your deserved break and can't wait to see what new mods you will put out next year.
This mod is actually a LOT more complex than the Charlotte one, it changes muuuuuuuuuuuch more of the game and feels a lot closer to actually playing the original character in different game.
Too bad the new game patch came out soon after I released it, cause it's gonna take a WHILE to update, due the aforementioned complexity.
