Thank you for the map! For those who would like to create rivers or lakes on the map using the in-game Developer Menu:
Enable Developer Mode On Steam: Add --developerMode to your launch options (Right click > Properties > General > Launch Options) On Gamepass: Create a shortcut to Citites2.exe and add --developerMode to the end of the "Target" like this "C:\XboxGames\Cities- Skylines II - PC Edition\Content\Cities2.exe" --developerMode
Launch the game either through Steam or your new shortcut. When you load into your save, press the "Home" button on your keyboard to open the menu. IF your keyboard doesn't have a Home key, you can rebind this in the input settings. It's called "Debug Prefab Tool"
Use the search bar to search for "water source"
Place it in your city
Warning - I tried multiple times and couldn't get this to work without the water flooding my city. It seems to produce an infinite amount of water. It takes a long time to fill up, so you might think that there's not enough water or that it's not going to overflow, but it did for me every time. If you find a way to turn off the water source or stop it from overflowing, please let me know.
Thanks for the tips. I think to prevent flooding you need to use the transform tool to make a valley or a lower terrain elevation than the one you want to build on, then place the water source at the bottom of that valley, that way the water flow will be contained within that valley as long as there's an exit on the outside of the map.
Do you have building that generates ground pollution that contaminates your water? This map has water and sewer connection to the outside, so you can just simply import the water and export the sewage for clean water.
Either that, or just play with everything unlocked.
For me, I don't use the developer mode to make the map. I've done some game file editing to give me access to the actual map editor to make the map. It has water tools that we can apply on the map, but I haven't had much luck with it myself, so I'm not sure how I can help you with it. At least, we'll probably need to wait for the official "full" map editor tool that will be released by the developer in future updates and the documentation that goes with it which I assume would have a better water tool than what we currently have, either on the Map editor mode, or the developer tool.
Otherwise, I think the other author in Nexus has better luck with it, since their maps have water in the surrounding areas.
Personally, I never had much luck with water tool in this game, both CS1 and CS2. I always wanted to create a perfectly circular island. But getting it precise is so difficult with the terrain brush they have. If only we have something that can draw a line to create a border where the terrain brush tool can ignore. That should give me enough incentive to start drawing rivers and island borders.
For now, technically this map doesn't need water for sewage, since all the water and sewage pipes have outside connection. So, you can just export the sewage out. But I know this can be expensive if you're playing without unlimited money.
Is it just "green" on the map for you when you toggle the resource icon? That might be because all of the resources are overlapping with each other. When we put all Ore, Oil, and Fertile land on top of each other, the final colour on the map is a pale moss green colour for the entire map. So, you should be able to just plot any specialised industrial building anywhere and they'll produce whatever resource you want and extract the resources underneath it.
You can toggle different layers of whether you want to see Oil, Ore, or Fertile land separately. But when you enable all of them together, they'll blend into just one colour.
Yeah, it looks like there's a few issues when putting all the reactors together (the steam animation won't work). So my next final update would be to remove all the buildings and just left with the roads. The roads will also be slightly changed because when we have overlapping objects, while it works in the editor, it won't work in the main gameplay where you can't bulldoze an object because it's overlapping with another, but you can't add or bulldoze the other object because it would overlap with the previous one. So you can't bulldoze or change anything.
So in my next update (version 1.0), that would be much cleaner with no overlapping objects so it should be fully workable. Probably in the next week or so.
Yes, will do. The next version will have both Airport and Ship connection (although I'm not sure what good it would do since it doesn't have any water anyway. At least not yet.
Nice Map, thank you for that. Very nice, the wind takes away all the pollution out the map. If there are not other problems (just started 1 hour ago) its the best mod/map i ever seen for any game XD
Thanks, I appreciate it. I actually didn't know about the wind as I kept everything default. But I suppose the open air and flat terrain might have been the contributing factor for the unobstructed wind.
I made this map because of my OCD to build the perfect and symmetrical city without the hassle of working around the terrain of the default maps. So it's flat and open map so anyone can build anything anywhere without restrictions.
Yeah, a water canal is in the works for the next version. For now, you can place a water treatment plant so the sewage can be purified and put back into the network.
Ahh okay, I always play with everything unlocked enabled, so I never had that problem. But I'll see what I can do to build the canal in the next version. I'm still exploring what I can do with the map editor, it's fairly limited and difficult to learn, but I'll get there.

Enjoy!
I'll pin your comment for everyone to see.
If not how can i create a custom map??
Edit: Nevermind, Got it!

Could you please let me know the best way to create a circular surrounding river?
I have enabled developer mode as per the pinned comment - however would like your idea on how I could achieve that
