Thank you for the map! For those who would like to create rivers or lakes on the map using the in-game Developer Menu:
Enable Developer Mode On Steam: Add --developerMode to your launch options (Right click > Properties > General > Launch Options) On Gamepass: Create a shortcut to Citites2.exe and add --developerMode to the end of the "Target" like this "C:\XboxGames\Cities- Skylines II - PC Edition\Content\Cities2.exe" --developerMode
Launch the game either through Steam or your new shortcut. When you load into your save, press the "Home" button on your keyboard to open the menu. IF your keyboard doesn't have a Home key, you can rebind this in the input settings. It's called "Debug Prefab Tool"
Use the search bar to search for "water source"
Place it in your city
Warning - I tried multiple times and couldn't get this to work without the water flooding my city. It seems to produce an infinite amount of water. It takes a long time to fill up, so you might think that there's not enough water or that it's not going to overflow, but it did for me every time. If you find a way to turn off the water source or stop it from overflowing, please let me know.
In the map editor the water sources are quite buggy as well. I'd assume it's why they locked all this out as it's clearly not ready yet. I had to stack several ocean sources in this map just to bring the water level up to where it claimed it would be at. Took a bit of time as you have to continuously wait for the water to fill to make sure you weren't gonna flood the map. I can't wait til they release it as functioning. I loved making maps in City Skylines.

That's fascinating to know! TY for the effort though, your map seems great! I hope the placement of Small Water sources to create small rivers like I did on your map, wont result in the oceans flooding the land...
It should remain stable if you've already got it to that point. The ocean source only flows water from the edge of the map. So at the mouth of the river it may fight the current a bit. Just make sure to save anytime before you terraform a opening to the edge. I found it best to make the opening to the ocean much smaller at first than the area you are planning to fill. Other wise it floods so fast it over runs the banks and takes awhile to dry up. I wanted to make the map with a slight slope (nothing that would really affect anything other than water drainage) from the middle to the outter edge so that the water would flow off in this case. Unfortunately another buggy thing is the ability to export/import height maps.
Yes it is possible. Though, unfortunately I overlooked the air connections as I play using developerMode, so I will update the map to have them. Sorry.
To place a sea connection, unlock the water travel. The area you want your harbors in you'll have to terraform the sea access a bit to widen it. This was intended so that the player has as much build space as possible. Then place your narrow, medium, or wide seaway like you would a road, extending it to the border to make an outside connection.
To place a air connection, atm you'll have to run developerMode and when in the map hit "Home" key and search "air" and pick "Airplane Outside Connection". Place them where you'd like. This wasn't intended and was overlooked by me, I will update the map, though that wont help to those that have a city established.
To run developerMode, if you aren't already, scroll up a bit, another user posted how to do it and I just sticky'd it for easier access.
May I ask if can you make a version of the map set in Northern Hemisphere instead of Southern one? Players from the Northern Hemisphere would love to play your maps but might get confused with April being in Autumn and January in Summer, etc.
The editor only allows for you to select that as a "climate" selection, which the options are only the current maps. If you'd like to suggest a map that has the seasons you'd prefer let me know which and I'll gladly upload a new version of mine with that seasonal(climate) setup.
Ohhh I see in the Main Menu's Map Selection screen (where we start a new save game), your map's info reports latitude already being set to "Northern Hemisphere". So the map is already in Northern Hemisphere, just it is that the seasons in your map are out of place and need to be fixed... I think I found what the culprit is.
The Official maps (i.e Mountain Village map) start in Season (Summer), June (Month) and in present era 2023 (Year), but your map starts in Season (Summer), January (Month) and in the long distant past 2000 (Year).
Perhaps if you set your map's starting month and year to June 2023, this will fix all problems I am having in your map, as it would allow for aligning your months with Northern Hemisphere's Summer. Plus, the year 2023 also will allow the game's modern technology not to feel out of place (various aspects of the game such as Wifi didn't exist back in 2000)
What would be great is to replace Continental TampereClimate (which disables winter completely) with ContinentalMountainVillageClimate which enables snow at winter... The summer-loving players wouldn't miss warm summers, since the MountainVillageClimate is only -3c colder than TampereClimate during summer.
Building on your discovery, I selected 'TemperateBarrierIslandClimate' for the climate settings. Which now that I look at it, is a Southern Hemisphere map. Hopefully in the future it will allow us to select these all as separate settings, rather than imitating another map. Do you have a preferred vanilla map climate (since some have snow and such) that you'd like to see or just simply a Northern Hemisphere one?
My most favorite vanilla map is Mountain Village, with its diverse climate: allowing for both cold winters and warm summers, that enables me enjoy 100% of the game's content, including having winter service vehicles (WSV) cleaning my roads of snow, and such.
If you ever happen to create a MountainVillageClimate map with the starting month being the official default date (June 2023, Summer), please lemme know, I would LOVE to use that in my game! I am sure many other players would love that too. :-)
I updated the main file to correctly be seasons from the Northern Hemisphere (more specifically the Mountain Village climate) , and left the starting date at default instead of 2000. The files are being scanned atm. Should be all good soon.
I can happily confirm that the Seasons are no longer messed up, and there is snow for those who want it, as long as they raise the elevation of their city above the thick white contour line. (for those who are new in Cities Skylines 2: there are two thick white contour lines: one representing water level, and another representing snow level). For those who don't want snow, they can simply stick with the modded map's original elevation as set by the author :-)
Thank you soo much for the updated mod! It allows for endless possibilities, scenarios and customization in our games!
I found it works best using a raised road that bridges across. Using a bridge is a bit more effort since it has a minimum length, so you have to make sure the support is not over the quay road if you're using that version.
I reuploaded the map with a quay around the perimeter in zip format. It seems to be available. I am currently still trying to get someone from Nexus to fix the issues though. Thanks for commenting.
How long will it take for the "Virus scan Some suspicious files" to go away. I know I wouldn't wanna trust downloading anything that was marked with that?

But the vanilla map of Mountain Village is riddled with annoying LOD bugs is the reason I was hopeful to use your modded map instead, but with the same diverse climate temperatures as Mountain Village did.

The thick white contour lines marking sea level and winter's snow level. Thank you, mod author for making this possible!
Edit: We're looking into this now.

Looks like re-uploading has resolved the problem.
The very first file failed to build during our upload process, which seemed to be an intermittent issue on our send. Sorry about that.
