Not bad! I use the U+ version, which is upscaled 4k with no visible upscaling artifacts, but this is still an improvement over the original pre-rendered videos.
I'm pretty sure that taking out .mp4 files from the game, upscaling them as videos, and working on them with video codecs, could be considered pre-rendered :)
bruh... you really trying to tell the dude that made and released upscaled cinematics for this game doesn't know what he is talking about? You do know what "pre-rendered" means right? It means the cutscenes/cinematics are not running in real time inside the game engine and they were "pre-rendered" into video files that are played at certain intervals in the game. "They're scripted in engine cutscenes, which is why this works." no... they are most definitely not. The developers may have created the scenes "in engine" but that still does not deny the fact that they (the devs) recorded/"pre-rendered" the cutscenes as a video file. These video files are not running in "real time" hence the phrase "pre-rendered".
They are 100% real-time cutscenes. Like Star Citizen. This is why modded outfits show up in cutscenes. Because the cutscene is being rendered real-time.
There are both in engine cutscenes and pre-rendered videos.
The very first cutscene is a video, most of Maelle nightmares are videos, the departure of expedition 33 is a video, the credits is a video.
I could go on for all 15 pre-rendered cutscenes, or we can keep talking about all the others which are in-engine and consequently aren't the target of the mod, as specified in the description.
There are 15 video cut-scenes where the outfits are default regardless of your game settings.
Even without digging into the game files, you can tell they are video codec cut-scenes because there is obvious compression artifacting (especially on a 4k monitor or TV) which would not be present in a real-time cutscene.
Hi, first of all, thank you for the mod ! It is really good but I have a problem. This was the only mod I have downloaded but with the ending cinematic and the last one of act 2 my screen was flashing intensively (even when paused) with your mod on and I don’t know why (all my screen was flashing, I needed to minimise the game for it to stop) and I don’t know why. When I got one of the ending, I’ve deleted the mod before seeing the other one and it did not happen (but it is very poor quality then). Do you know if a screen or game setting would have been the cause of the screen flashing with the upscaled videos ? Thank you very much !
Actually I don't have any clue on why this happened. Did you had my mod installed from the start of your playthrough? Or was it installed just before finishing act 2? So that we try and narrow down the case
Hi, I am having crashes on Maelle first black and white cutscene (the first one I Guess). The cutscene is launching, then image is crashing but the sound keeps going. Thanks for the mod btw
Does it crash the game too, or it went on after? I don't remember precisely what happens with video fx, so it might be intended. I'm gonna keep an eye on it!
I tried to play the cutscene once more but this time it worked.
Then I got the same problem on an other black and white cutscene (just after Maelle first nightmare). Same behavior: video was stucked but sound was ok. This time I let the cutscene play, and the game crashed at the end. I noticed that my FPS count was stucked too during the crash.
List of mod I am using: - Improved Cinematics - ClairObscurFix - Expedition Optimizer - Optiscaler - Optimized Tweaks COE33 - Reduced Stutter Improved Performance Lower Latency Better Frametimes - Ultra plus - Remove Volumetric Fog - Fog - Bloom - DOF - CA (Anti-Stuttering)
I think it isn't my mod causing the issue, but rather Ultrafix which seems to have introduced Upscaled Cinematics in their package and that it's obviously conflicting with my mod but also some of the optimization mods could be conflicting with the video playback (which haven't been reported before with my mod, so it's might still be related to Ultrafix).
I'd say try making some adjustments either disabling mine or theirs.
For instance, my installation never crashed with the following mods: - Improved Cinematics - ClairObscurFix - Optimized Tweaks COE33
No problem, it's always good to report these cases, for other players who may fall in the same rabbit hole. Let's hope you can play without problems now! :)
if i may help, the last Optiscale version for the game doesn't crash anymore, however you can only find it in their discord as it is not released yet publicly ^^
Hi, I downloaded the mod before starting my first save and the cutscenes are all 30fps seemingly still. I'm playing in fullscreen 4k, and I installed the mod per instruction. Any reason the cutscenes are still in 30fps? Thanks in advance!
Hello, are you on xbox version of the game? I have conflicting report on that version working with the mod.
Also, bear in mind this mod handles pre-rendered video cutscenes, so for example the very first cutscene of the game (Lumiere) should be 60fps, but the second one with Gustave and Maelle will still be in 30 fps (I suggest downloading ObscurFix too, which does remove the fps cap for in engine cutscenes)
Can I change somehow that mod to unblock fps? I have 5090 and i play with FG from nvidia app - with 60 fps lock i have in cinematics 30fps normal and 30 fps AI :/
My mod replaces video files, just that, so fps caps really don't matter. Framgen shouldn't generate additional frames for video playback, if that's the case, it's an implementation error that it's caused by it being added by the fanbase.
With "that mod" you mean obscurfix? If that's the case, I'm pretty sure the lock gets placed the same as the one you have in the settings.

This isn't complicated.
Will my hotspot go up?
Thank you. Because it did, when I used the 60fps option in ClairObscurFix.ini.
Is this different? Genuine question. Thanks.

And I mean not even once, so pretty solid!
I should have tested that before 😏

If it's not an hassle, download it with the mirror and check the very first cutscene yourself

Thanks for suggesting ObscurFix as well!

Edit: Or even just providing files for the upscaled 4k version without downscaling back. Would love to see these cinematics as good as possible.
