This game was causing me struggles to hit 40fps, even when other more demanding games breeze away with ultra settings at 120 or higher on my machine. This mod allowed me an 8-12fps increase and it's definitely smoother playing. I don't know why this game causes my machine to struggle so much. Seeing many reports that others are experiencing it as well. Try this mod if you're experiencing slowness or stuttering. It just may be what helps you for now until the devs release a patch.
I can confirm it works on the Steam Deck. I can't exactly tell by how much because the game is capped at 30fps. But I've been able to increase the render scale. And change the render from XeSS to TSR that was a significant drop before.
Edit: playing with this settings on the deck is quite decent: https://imgur.com/a/xOGbmaX
Works like a charm!!!!!! Thank you sooooo muchhhh!!! Had to set graphic to low and wasn't even smooth now can play with medium graphic and runs 60fps stably!! R9 5900 + RTX3080 laptop GPU Thank you soo much!!!!
TL;DR - Yes, this mod helped me improve ingame performance, reduce stutter and make the game more playable.
Longstory:
I've tested this mod in the area I had most performance issues, forgotten battlefield. Without the mod, I just barely had 60 fps in roaming mode and it would often drop to 45-50 fps in combat. Most other areas in the game I had always roughly 60fps in combat, but with terrible stuttering.
After I tested the game with the mod, I always had atleast stable 60fps in most areas, whilst being in combat, with the exception of forgotten battlefield, where I was at just at 55-60 fps, but the stuttering was very minimal.
DISCLAIMER: This mod won't work miracles, if you play on a potato, but it helps by a lot. With the exception of one area in the game, my stuttering was at an all time low and I probably wouldn't have noticed any stuttering at all, if my AMD Software didn't tell me there was some.
I want to mention that the reason I have technical issues with this game is because of a lack in CPU power, that doesn't match the recommended requirements, it's not a GPU problem for me. So perhaps your experience with this mod could turn out even better.
Do not care too much about the people in the comments who says this mod does not work. Give it a try and... if it works it works.
I tend to be very skeptical of these types of mods, but omg this actually works! I was already getting a stable 60 fps but when I use a reshade I dropped in the fifties with tons of stutters. This mods fixes it! Thank you so much, I will try your oblivion mod once I am done with this game
Doesn't work for me. I loose some fps (around 5/6) when installing this mod. Maybe this mod is for low end config. I have 5080 / 9800X3D (you would ask why i need this mod with this config : This game is far from perfect when it comes about optimisation. I can drop to 70/60 fps in some areas even with DLSS )
Sorry to hear :/ It's weird because many people with similar hardware reported improvements (even some fps gains). You could try testing in other spots/scenarios.
same in all kind of scenarios. Not sure if i loose fps , but it doesn't improve anything. Maybe my installation is wrong? I create a "~mods" directory (with this exact name) and extract the .pak inside, with this path : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Expedition 33\Sandfall\Content\Paks
I tried this mod and it did this weird thing where the games was stuck on the pre-menu screen with all the petals. It may have been a compatibility issue, I probably forgot to uninstall OTHER performance mods because I was trying to test them all to see which worked best. For furniture reference, this may soft lock your game if you’re not careful with installation instructions.
My head is spinning with all these optimization tweak mods and I don't know how to decide which one I should use. This one has the most endorsements and comments so I was hoping some of y'all could tell me how you decided which performance tweak mod to go with?
I'm trying to decide between this one, Optimax Performance - Stutter FPS Latency Fix Ultimate Engine Tweaks (Anti-Stutters - More Performance - Lower Latency - Better Clarity - Lossless) ClairObscurFix Expedition 33 - Unreal Config
and that's after filtering out all the others that haven't been updated in the last week.
It seems like Unreal Config is a GUI for editing the config files that some of the other mods have edited and a lot of the other mods are offering a bunch of preset configs, but is there any better method or system for deciding than just downloading and trying them all individually?
well I'm running vanilla on the low preset and I don't really have performance issues except maybe once an hour I might get a short lag in an attack animation, so I'm not really sure what I'm trying to optimize for exactly. I don't tend to notice small details as much as most people.
Also, you said not to combine them, but you just answered "Yes, of course" when tiitiix asked if your optimization works with ClairObscurFix, so I'm a little confused... I guess from the description ClairObscurFix mostly tweaks fps, blur and sharpening and your mod doesn't conflict with those settings?
I guess since yours and ClairObscurFix are the most endorsed and work together, it seems like that will probably give me the most.

"When not using Vsync: set FPS to Unlimited in game -> limit fps in RivaTuner instead"
What's the difference between using RivaTuner <> nvidia Control Panel?
