1. Anyone know why ACM just randomly quits sometimes? I will be 20 minutes into posing 4 or 5 npc's, and it will just suddenly show "no target". Nothing I do brings it back. Targeting the NPCs, shuffling the target, closing CET and reopening it. Nothing short of loading a save brings it back. Any way to fix this? Sucks to lose 20 minutes of posing and clothing swaps just before you complete your scene!
2. My biggest question, why do saved appearances only sometimes work? I'll export an appearance, it shows in AMM, but when you click it to assign that appearance, it's completely random what you'll get. Sometimes it works and loads exactly what you made in ACM, sometimes you get the clothes you assigned, plus a few of the items the NPC was originally wearing, and sometimes you'll get a full vanilla appearance with no edits at all. Total crapshoot with exported appearances for me. Probably 50% of my time using ACM is just re-making appearances and exporting them until one decides to work.
Any ACM wizards out there, please, I would really appreciate some insight here. Thanks and be well!
Try pointing the camera at a different position of the npc/npv, for some reason some parts of the npc/npv can't be read by ACM. I had this problem when I was pointing the camera behind an npv and ACM just stopped working but then I panned to the front and ACM started to work again. Another instance is when I was pointing at the head and that didn't work till I pointed at the upper torso, gotta find that sweet spot I guess.
1. First is with saving appearances. For example, I am trying to change clothes on Melissa Rory. I have tried spawning her appearance with the default, maxtac uniform, and then toggle off all her gear, and replace just the 2 or 3 things to their appropriate slot. In this case, a top, bottoms and shoes (torso, legs, feet). Simple. I click export, the appearance gets added to the list, then when I click it, I get a Melissa with her added mod items plus all her other maxtac gear.
I've also tried spawning in naked Melissa, added the top, bottoms, shoes and a default game hair cut, click export, it gets added to the list, then when I click on that appearance, she's either naked and bald again or, she's wearing all her gear! I don't get it. I was able to save an appearance on my first try yesterday doing what I thought were those simple steps, but now it refuses. I know I'm missing one simple little step here, but I don't know what it is.
2. Second issue is I'm getting A TON of crashes when using ACM. I'll spend 10 minutes getting 2 or 3 spawned npcs looking just right, posed up, then bam, crash. Sometimes it's just from changing a pose, moving the camera, opening the director camera, closing the director camera, opening photo mode, changing an NPC's expression, etc, etc. It is just about any random thing you can do in ACM, the game can and does crash. I only installed ACM yesterday on my latest fresh install, and I wasn't crashing before, so it's definitely ACM or a combo of it and another mod that it doesn't like. What are some common causes for crashes in ACM? My Nvidia 4070 sucks? My video settings are too high? Pathtracing for photomode shouldn't be set to on? Don't try to take photos in a modded apartment? Any ideas, would be much appreciated.
3. Not actually an issue. I was hoping someone might have a good link to an "ACM for dummies" youtube video, or an online "how to" guide they would be willing to share. This mod isn't intuitive to my old, slow brain at all, and I need to go to ACM school. 😅
okay, the amazing beaniebby just helped me out quite a bit! Turns out Melissa Rory is a huge pain in the but to edit in ACM. Apparently she has some mesh slots that act up. I spent HOURS fighting with Melissa to get her into a bikini (she really loves being a cop I guess), and after beaniebby pointed out her troublesome mesh slots, I was able to get Cheri to not only wear the bikini, but the appearance saved perfectly 1st try! Took all of 15 seconds. 🤦♂️
Anyhoo, any links to ACM tutorials or "idiot's guides" would still be appreciated. Thanks!
For point 2, I've been having a similar issue with ACM for a while now. Every time I installed/tried to use ACM, it would randomly crash when I loaded appearances, almost like russian roulette. I could never find the reason why and so I've just been waiting for the mod to update... any day now...
I must be missing something spectacularly obvious, but there is no "export appearance" button for me in this mod. I can change appearances and meshes and what have you but that's about as far as it goes. I have linked an image above with what I'm talking about
Everytime I spawn in PanAm, she pops up in her underwear and I have no idea why. If I switch her outfit, then the minute I turn off ACM she goes back to her underwear. If I spawn her in default then she goes back to her underwear. Any ideas why?
Do this work to customize NPCs body shapes through spawn0 BODY MOD 2.0 and POLY BODY? I want to make some citizens have their body shapes fixed, since they're not using any of them. By default, I think 1-1 (upper-lower).
