If the mod is not working for you, Please follow these steps before posting

    • Delete all the files in convai folder except main.exe, roots.pem and api_key.txt and relaunch the game and try again, if it still does not work follow the below steps.
    • Close the Game and Find the convaimod.log file in Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64\plugins\cyber_engine_tweaks\mods\convaimod\convaimod.log and gamelog file in Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64\plugins\cyber_engine_tweaks\gamelog.log (make sure to enable file extensions in view)
    • Copy and paste relevant lines from those files in your post

Possible reasons for the mod not working

    • Exceeding the limits of free tier which offers 100 interactions daily
    • Not double clicking on "main.exe" whenever you launch the game or reload mods in Cyber Engine Tweaks
    • Using Vortex to install the mod
    • Not enabling microphone
    • Forgetting to add api key
    • Not copying main.exe from the link to convai folder

Fixes for "This app can't run on your PC"

    • Open Properties and use compatibility troubleshooter
    • Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 redistributable

Hello! Your mod is very promising. I was quite pleased withthe possibilities it can provide as it improves. I would like to know if there
is a way for it to respond in my language, Brazilian Portuguese. Is there a way
to guide the mod to execute responses in that language? Thank you very much!

I added to the Character's Backstory the following: "Reply only in Portuguese." and used Elevenlabs custom voice to get her to speak properly in this language, desta forma a personagem que eu queria ouvir passou a soar natural nesse idioma.

I created a character in the game and added the command: Reply only in Portuguese
However, this does not change the way NPCs speak to Portuguese.
Or does it only apply to the character created?
      Sorry, I didn't quite understand. :(

Sorry for being too late. Maybe the voice you are using hasn't multilingual support

It might be an idea to add to the main.exe not working fixes,  the correct instructions for how to get the main.exe file correctly.

Unfortunately when people don't know github very well they may right click save as on the main.exe linked in the file list which gives you an incorrect exe file.  Instead they need to go to the green <> code button and download from there.

Disambiguating this problem will help with false/error reporting.  (also that's a fix if you are having said issue yourselves by the way)

I tried it and it's very cool. I have seen another similar project that also has facial animations (lips moving along to the speech). https://github.com/AkshitIreddy/Interactive-LLM-Powered-NPCs
The installation process for that one is way much more complex though.
Any plans on getting facial/lip animations working with this mod?

There is no facial animation, it is a generated video overlaid on the game screen.

Thank you for this cool piece of software.
I initially had some difficulties getting your mod to work, but now it’s working fine. I thought I’d quickly write here how I got it to work, maybe it will help others who are having trouble getting everything up and running.
At first, I had the issue where the main.exe disappeared from my task manager shortly after activating the set key (whether text input or microphone).

    My solution for this:
Check the folder permissions via Windows Explorer and set full access for all users.
After that, the main.exe continued to run even after the keybind activation.
So, everything seemed good, but in the game, I didn’t get any response or reaction.

Because I’m a lazy person, I installed the mod via Vortex.
In the next step, I uninstalled the mod via Vortex and manually deleted the
Convaimod folder from "bin\x64\plugins\cyber_engine_tweaks\mods," which Vortex didn’t remove.
Afterward, I unpacked the mod directly into the corresponding directory as you described (without Vortex), and voila, everything has been working as you described ever since.

So here are my 2 tips for anyone having trouble:

    • Unpack the mod folder manually, not via Vortex.
    • Check and fix your folder permissions if the main.exe just disappears.

I hope I could help someone with this.

Thanks to Convai for your ideas and work. :)
