New Update: pinging devices now correctly also ping enemy NPCs and allow hacking through walls. However the work around is kinda a hack(pun intended), so test it out/let me know if it breaks anything
It seems that this mod is intended to return Ping to its original ability of being able to hack devices and enemies through walls. I have only reinstalled the game and it seems to me that legendary Ping now is only able to hack devices through walls. Not enemies. Ping as it is now, even legendary, is a pale shadow of what it was once. I've even tried it. Using UA to buy one and tried it.
Sure by hacking a device, it highlighted everyone but it seems that trying to hack enemies through walls is impossible. If this mod does what it said, it returns Ping back to what it was: a powerful hack.
One of the issues I'm encountering is that I can see the outline of enemies through walls and upload Quickhack through them. However, for some reason, the outline (sometimes) flickers at a very high frequency when you trying to scan them, making it difficult to upload my Quickhack. Since I couldn't use Quickhack through walls without the mod, I'm not sure if this is an issue with the mod or the game itsee-upload "Ping" can solve this problem. Re-upload can solve this problem
Does it need to be a specific version of ping? IK it says tier 5 and up, but this definitely doesn't work with ICONIC Ping. My character has white ping and I had the schematic for iconic ping so I crafted that. I did some testing and the white one would ping but I couldn't scan or hack anything (as to be expected) then I equipped the ICONIC Ping and after pinging I could scan and hack devices but could NOT scan or hack npc's just highlight them. Does it need to be tier 5 or 5+ and NOT the ICONIC? Or is ICONIC supposed to work with this mod?
EDIT: Did some more testing and yes Iconic ping does not work at all but I consoled in a tier 5 so the basic orange tier not the 5+ or 5++ and I was somewhat able to get the tier 5 to work. Tier 5 works if you ping an npc, if you ping an npc then you can scan/hack any npc or device that gets highlighted but if you ping a device i.e. a camera etc then you CAN"T scan/hack npc's. So basically what I have learned is that you need to use Tier 5 NOT iconic and you HAVE to ping an npc not a device, then you can scan/hack npc's through walls.
Yea a quirk with how the pinging system work (The Better Netrunning mod have this issue with access point too) is that sometimes NPC and Devices are not "connected" to each other but still ping each other. In those cases you have to ping an NPC the game to considered an NPC marked by ping, and hackable through walls. SO TLDR yea for hack through walls to work make sure you ping an NPC directly. If I have time I might try to do a work around haha
Although Iconic ping should work the same, if you ping an NPC iconic should behave correctly
Gotcha, good to know I'll do some more testing with iconic, but I definitely couldn't get it to work even pinging npc's directly like I did with tier 5. Never tried the tier 5+ only tier 5 and 5++(iconic). I'll test some more and report back.
Update: Went through the code a bit, turns out yea iconic Ping does have a problem (from vanilla game lol), that is the OG target is pinged correctly(and can hack through walls) but the other NPC on the network is pinged with a level 1 ping(cannot hack through walls). Will add a fix in a bit
Weird, I've been testing Ping related stuff a few days ago and Legendary Ping does that on base game. It's even on the wiki: https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/Ping
