If you’re using the latest version, you just need to enable the Sync with Equipped SkippyVisible When Holding Skippy option (though the naming might not be ideal). Currently, you have to activate this option every time you start the game. The checkbox settings are not saved at the moment. This is enabled by default, but can also be permanently disabled.
No. Both downloads contain the same mod. However, the Source Code version includes the full, documented code and is intended for development purposes. The main version has been heavily reduced in size and optimized for performance. While the performance gain is likely negligible for a mod of this size, it’s still there in principle. Functionally, it doesn’t matter which version you download — both will work identically.
just want to bump the post about the init file not having a dedicated mod structure as well as ask if this would theoretically help fix issues where skippy isn't prompting the quest "Machine Gun" after 50 kills provided we tried everything else like doubletapping, waiting, fast traveling, etc.
Im currently at 90+ kills according to factfinder mod and I guess skippy just really likes me because he still says all his lines, he just isn't initiating the quest.
With the latest version of the mod, you can check whether everything with Skippy is working as intended. You can view your stats, including several that track kills, and see internal achievements like User Maimed 50+ Enemies, which you normally wouldn’t be aware of since they’re tracked in the background without your knowledge.
In general, the mod reads quest facts. It’s possible you haven’t met all the necessary conditions yet, but this mod should make it easy to find out.
One aspect I couldn’t include, however, is time. And I’m not talking about hours or days. It either feels totally random, or, as I suspect, you simply need to complete some gigs and eventually Skippy will contact you on his own. For this to happen, Skippy only needs to be equipped in one of your weapon slots — you don’t have to actively use him as a weapon.
In fact, it seems like it might even help trigger the final mission if you don’t use Skippy for a while. If you just stand around doing nothing in particular, the quest tends to trigger.
It's great that someone finally made this mod... It's not so great that the quest finally triggered for me just a few days ago, and I ended up finishing without it 😩
It should display Returned to Regina, so the mod should cover nearly everything. If I missed something or if it’s not displaying correctly in certain situations, feel free to let me know.
