"Advanced Dialogue and Hidden Map Locations are mostly compatible if you put AD after HML in the load order. But there's one HML feature that currently doesn't work with AD (adding discovered locations from the "Where Is > Regional" menu). I'll be working on a fix for this shortly as I love HML."
So THAT is why I can't find any Temples of Dibella!
This seemingly minor mod actually adds so much depth to the game. To my surprise I found myself having a full conversation with a jester at a bar over beer. The dude got jokes.
Thank you for bringing a little more of Morrowind into Daggerfall.
Bit of a nitpick but Is it possible to be declined more politely if your reputation is high enough? It's a little immersion breaking being called a nuisance or insulted harshly after maxing it out my rep, especially after joining the Knights of the Dragon where you're meant to be respected by Daggerfall's people.
Kids actually don't get the "Buy a beer" option. That little guy isn't labeled a child in the internal DF data (a designation that really exists), so I assume he's a scrawny teenager. Plus it's the Middle Ages, beer is safer than water, and the drinking age in Tamriel isn't 21, so I'm going to leave this be.
Actually I don't mean to intrude but kids in mediaeval times actually drank very low alcohol beer. It was called buttered beer. And they had to do manual labour and stuff to keep their family afloat. Kidults really. Not saying that stuff was good of course. But it was those times.
I think you're mixing together a real type of beer from medieval times and "butterbeer" from Harry Potter. Harry Potter's "butterbeer" is a non-alcoholic beverage that kids drink. Actual medieval "buttered beer" is attested from a Tudor-era recipe, is not specifically for kids, and is very much alcoholic.
Excuse my drinks.. But some may know of this meeting. The nature of my alcoholic tendancy is darker still.. in the 15th century many things considered normal then were uncanny at best for us now. Including kids drinking low alcohol. Beer at least in England was safer to drink than water. Beer also was not very high in alcohol in those days since making it alcoholic wasn't the same process as factories and technology can now make more efficiently. Or so I was told. I unfortunately cannot find the video on YouTube that confirms all this. But I'm a long time subscriber to historical cooking channel. It's very fun to find out the uncanny of the past. I will share a link from YouTube if you wouldn't mind. I'll do some digging
Here it is! They recently must have changed their channel name! https://youtu.be/nAZZGlK4E3Y?si=-Et8jtoOxS0HddkG
Thanks for the kind words. It's also a group project! If you (or anyone else) is interested in writing dialogue or quests, hit us up on the Lysandus' Tomb Discord.
When I was translating the Dialogue. csv" file, I translated all the phrases "Any advice?" into Ukrainian "Що порадите?" and the phrase simply disappeared in the game. Could you please tell me how to fix it?
You're going to have to modify that phrase in the ADTalkWindow.cs class as well, since the class automatically adds the phrase to the player's list of known captions (it also adds Who are you? and Buy an ale/beer). There might be some other prickly issues like that, let me know if you run into them! I'll respond quicker on Discord.
I noticed that most of the topics don't contribute to Streetwise/Etiquette skill progress anymore, other than the default "Where am I" and location stuff. Might wanna look into it?
This is perhaps a bit silly, but could you add a "Thank you" dialogue option? I always feel a little funny when I get some real help from an NPC and then I'm just like "bye" and walk away.
I won't add a "Thank you" topic myself but I'm working on opening up the mod to accept dialogue files from other modders. Once I've got that system worked out then adding a "Thank you" topic would be trivial and you can release it as your own mod.
I am asking while in a mages guild, "Where am I?" They will respond I am in x Mages guild but it won't unlock the topic for conversation like it would if they mentioned the mages guild if I asked for advice. Is this intentional or a conflict on my end?
Neither intentional nor a conflict, just a modding limitation. I use a trick to get regions to appear as topics after asking "Where Am I?" but it won't work for more specific locations like Mage's Guilds.
I see, another thing I wanted to ask if I may. How many topics are unlockable with the "Any Advice" option? All I seem to get (I've asked a plethora of different NPCs) is the Mages, Fighters, Thieves guilds and witches. They also talk about local holidays but that does not unlock anything and they don't talk about anything else, just those 5 topics. EDIT. Another thing I noticed, when talking to one NPC lets say using a polite tone, they will not give me an answer till I switch to either normal or blunt and the next NPC I talk too will be the same. I get that you need to switch to get different answers from different people but that is not what I am saying, I am saying that I am always immediately required to switch when talking to a new NPC, talk to one in normal, have to switch with the next, talk to the next polite and have to switch to either of the two I did use on the last NPC or they will just brush me off like they are tired of my repeated questions even though it's the first time I've talked to them. I hope that made sense. This only seems to happen if I talk to the same NPC over and over say a tavern keeper, leave the talk window and reenter again and again. I don't think is a bug or anything and it's self-inflicted anyway.
So far I've only written five Any Advice? topics but at some point I plan to add lots more. The Any Advice? answer about holidays will unlock a Local holidays topic in some regions.
The second thing you've described sounds like a bug but I'm not seeing behavior like this at all. If you track me down on the Lysandus' Tomb Discord we can talk it through with screenshots to help me understand the issue.
I was about to ask why people weren't marking a residence on my map despite saying they were but it turned out they were outside the city from Beautiful Cities. Am dumb.
I'm definitely excited to play with this mod. Makes more sense that your character actually has to hear about things instead of knowing every single faction, locations etc. When it comes to HML compatibility, is there a way you could limit the distance of map locations when asking for regional stuff? Like I find it kinda strange when I ask for an alchemist someone marks a random town across the entire region instead of one that's closer.
Does AD actually work correctly with HML? I thought they'd be incompatible in theory because they both modify the TalkWindow, but neither mod replaces it completely so... maybe? I'd be interested in hearing about whether NPCs are actually putting the towns they mention on the map.
Very cool you're getting quest locations in the city outskirts with BC!
No, it doesn't sadly. I meant if you're able to get it compatible. I posted asking for that on HML but it doesn't seem it'll be updated any time soon which is a shame.

No issues so far on Android.
