I have re-uploaded the mod this time using zip format. Let me know if there are any errors with the archive this time. Changed the instructions around a bit and added my gameinfo.txt to be downloaded if people would rather do that.
It seems, in my case, large address aware is now a requirement. I crashed nonstop when creating a new game, but applying this to mm.exe solved the issue.
Latest update covers basically all decals and overlays I could find throughout the game. Optionally spells and some fx. With the rate of stuff I've covered, I consider it enough to where I can call this complete. So no more updates most likely unless someone discovers issues.
Updated Install guide to be more thorough, hopefully this helps with installs.
Thanks for converting this to a Mod Launcher compatible version.
But I got crashes (CTD) almost everytime I spam the attack button. Maybe too much effects on the screen? I don't know if this already was an issue in the original version, but I tracked it down to some blood decals in the material folder. So I deleted everything starting with "blood*" within the content/material/decals folder. Now the crashes when spamming the attack button seem to be gone.
This will drastically simplify the installation of your mod and allow Vortex users to install the mod with a single click.
All that is necessary is to put all the files that would go into the "custom" folder into a folder called "content" and include the info.json file with mod information. Then zip up the "content" folder and "info.json" file and you are done! No more gameinfo.txt files, making new folders, or copying things around.
Huh, that actually sounds like it could be useful. I'll try and see if I can get around to doing it. I've been trying to get around to updating and fixing somethings as of right now it really needs it, but unfortunately have not been able to get satisfactory results. I'll try and wait till then, but if can't get anything after a while, I'll just do it using the current state of things. Thanks for the information.
Game doesn't want to start via Steam. Simply nothing is happening. There is process runing in task menager, but thats all. And when I'm trying to start it through mm.exe there is white screen and then error pops up "Can't find background image 'materials/console/background01_widescreen.vtf'". I've applied large address aware to mm.exe. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong and why it doesn't working?
So many people get this issue, and I even got it a few times back in the day as well. I believe it resolves around something in the gameinfo.txt being wrong, but I'm not entirely sure.
It's both the gameinfo.txt and the exe file, and also due to a window 10 update. I can tell cause i have a working retail version and the steam version. Both has different gamepath section inside the txt file. Another difference is that the retail version use gcf file inside mm, which then got the [gamepath] pointed from all of those files to the exe file, while steam version use vpk files that are all stored inside a separated folder. Thus making the exe file from the retail one smaller than the steam one. The only suggestion i can give for now is to find a retail version that has pre-patched offical update and window 10 patch, and also modify the gameinfo.txt file in the retail version if necessary.
This is totally BROKEN mod. There's no such "custom" folder created even if I setup everything correctly. Making a custom folder my own doesn't work jackshit too.
holy heck, this actually works! here are some tipps that i had trouble with:
- Step 1 refers to "download and install" THE GAME! (NOT THE MOD!) the base game - modifying gametext didnt work, downloading it from Misc DID! - yes, 7 zip is needed - after folowing the guide, i needed to re-apply LAA!
For those having an unspecified error with extracting the files, apparently it's something that has to do with Windows' native zip extractor. Just use 7zip or Winrar instead and it'll work.
Hi, I'm having issues with this mod (and one of the files for the corpses stay mod) where I can't replace/copy some of the files: Error: 0x80004005 unspecified error
I had the same issue. The solution is to either extract the mod somewhere else (unzipping it basically) or to hit extract files and then set the "custom" folder as the destination. For whatever reason, trying to drag the files from the zip folder to the destination folder causes the error.

Could you add a new file for this mod to use the new wiltOS Mod Launcher? https://www.moddb.com/games/dark-messiah-of-might-magic/downloads/wos-dark-messiah-mod-launcher-r0-926
An example mod can be found here (this includes multiple mods in one zip): https://www.moddb.com/mods/dark-messiah-unlimited-edition/downloads/wos-unlimited-edition-141-all-in-one
