I know it hasn't been long since the mod has released, but I am taking an indefinite hiatus off the web. I have mentioned a few months a while back on the Seeker of Fire page, that my current life situation isn't great. It has been nice to come back and finish this mod. With what was going on, I didn't think this mod would've seen the light of day, so it was a miracle that I had this chance to use this to send my farewells to this game and modding in general. I am not happy with my life and I want to find my footing again.
That being said, I have compiled a bunch of bug fixes and adjustments before I leave. Is there potential for me to come back and make more modifiers and fixes for the mod? Potentially yes. Otherwise, this is goodbye for now. Anyway, if you want to support this mod in any way, donation link is Here. Thanks to Fromsoftserve for helping me throughout this project.
As of December 19th 2024, my father unfortunately passed away. Seeker of Fire and Bearer of the Curse mod will no longer receive support and will halt all activity from 2025 and onward. I have decided that it's best to move on from modding and pursue something different instead of lingering onto modding. It's been a great 4 years since I released my first mod on the Nexus, and I've been so thankful for all of your kind words and encouragement over the years. I hope that the next generation of DS2 modders will accomplish things far greater than I have and will make the ultimate masterpiece of a mod.
Side note, version 1.0.2 is the last release of the mod. ADP has its controversial functions restored, however baseline Agility iframes are closer to 99 Agility. There has been a rebalance to how Agility will affect Item Speed consumption and Weapon slot swapping. Although, the difference in starting iframes will not be a major difference, iframes have dropped from 13.75 frames to 12.75 frames to make rolling frames less "trivial". Iframes will resume frame scaling normally after 24-25 ADP.
So does replacing the enc.regulation.dnx file in the mod with another mods change a whole lot about this mod? I like using Great Spells Before Nuff and was curious
this mod is fantastic. however is it just me, or is the game now "too easy" because all the jank from movement etc. got fixed?
7 or so years ago when i tried this game, i remembered it as hard, a real struggle. i really can't tell now, enemy/boss AI/stats/etc. wasn't changed with this mod right ?
You right for the most part. When you fix jank and tweak the mechanics to be like the other games, it definitely makes the game easier. However, Ds2 has always been "easy" if you played through the game many times. It's more clear that the devs put restraints on the player via slow stamina, janky combat, slower response time, and 8 directional movement to make the game artificially more difficult.
Even without the mod, you can still cheese through a lot of the enemies if you know how to watch the restraints. I like the quality of changes this mod brings, its refreshing after a regular Ds2 run, but the modder's previous mod makes the game a little more challenging than a simple quality of life balance.
This mod does make the bosses a little more difficult and fun in some ways, but a few things have been dumbed down like the shrine of amana mages which had their aggro range nerfed. Also the fact that you can parry and riposte more things that weren't meant to be parried, which is an up and downside being easy. Parry and riposting bosses that you couldn't do before is extremely fun and rewarding despite being easier.
Overall mod is fantastic and I would usually play this over vanilla because I am so conditioned from Elden Ring that these quality of life changes brings me back into the game.
Hot take, but I never found the base game to be difficult, specifically the boss fights. The only ones I struggled with were Dual Pursuers and Belfry Gargoyles NG+ for the ROB+2 & CGSR+2.
This mod, on the other hand, is clapping my ass cheeks. Combat feels so much smoother, but enemies are also faster. Being able to walk while healing makes it safer to heal, but it didn't really matter much against boss fights. You still need to find openings to heal. Died so many times already just against the Old Dragonslayer and the Pursuer just because I wanted to heal.
it just freezes and takes forever to get going whats that about anyone experience the same thing and has fixed it have the main files installed and high settings and all that jazz
I have a problem with this mod. I'm playing it with Bearer of the Curse. I can't create a new character because the game closes. I had this problem in the past and solved it by creating a new character before installing the mods. I don't want to install and uninstall the game every time I want to create a new character. How can I do it? Maybe I should find a way to skip the opening movie. But even if I press the ESC key the game crashes.
Anyone know how to fix Shrine of Amana for this mod? THe issue is once you install this and lightengine the water can't be seen through anymore, which means you can't tell where the land ends/mobs are nor where the chests are. So unless you've got a VERY good memory and remember everything, you're gonna fall off a LOT.
EDIT! - Ignore me. Seems like the issue was with the graphical update from Scholar of the Second Sin Visual Mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls2/mods/1160?tab=description
The reflections mod makes the water non-seethrough, and to get rid of it you need to fully uninstall everything restart from scratch.

well, one thing i noticed, shaded ruins no longer has those pots which apply cursed. and to be honest, i don't like this change.
