About this mod
In an alternate Walking Dead universe Daryl Dixon survives with his brother Merle while branching out to the worlds of the Alexandria Safe Zone, Hilltop, Sanctuary, Woodbury & more. This changes multiple elements from infected, gameplay, weapons, UI, menus, sounds, characters, camps and more, to give players a Walking Dead style experience.

- This mod aims to make giving you a Walking Dead experience without adding a bunch of other mods.
- Full Daryl Dixon clothing, vest and tattoo replacement is included in this mod. You will only need the Daryl Dixon mod for his head/hair.
- Menu edits, both visual and audio.
- In game HUD and UI completely overhauled.
- Zombies have been completely overhauled. Zombie damage adjusted. Headshots will one shot kill a zombie. They can take more body shots in general but are not too overpowered. Textures updated. No more pink skin. Skin is more green/grey. Eyes have been adjusted to have a mix of red and yellow. Zombie movement has been adjusted and are slow, except for the breaker and reacher which still moves at normal speed.
- All melee weapons have 2x health.
- Crossbow does more damage and has a slightly faster reload.
- Boot knife does 2x damage.
- Custom crosshairs implemented. The pistol has a small circle (o) that does not change size. All rifles/SMG/LMG use the (+) crosshair. Crossbow uses the (X) crosshair. Sniper scope is fully made custom just for this mod. Shotgun hasn't changed.
- Radio removed from Daryl's shoulder.
- Daryl's manbag and bandoleer have been removed.
Known bugs:
- Turn off subtitles when using this mod. I have been working on editing the subtitles but for now they show the wrong character and city names, so I suggest keeping them off.
Open your game directory and find this location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Days Gone\BendGame\Content\sfpaks
find this file:
startuppackages.pak
change the name to:
disabled_startuppackages.pak
Step 2
Download the main file
Right click the downloaded folder and EXTRACT the file to unzip it.
Move the zzz-TWD_P.pak file to this location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Days Gone\BendGame\Content\paks
To install the additional "UI_Version 0.86" text file you'll need to go to a different location on your PC:
You will need this file to see the proper text and UI prompts in game.
Step 3
Extract the downloaded zip file.
Copy-Paste this line below into your windows browser location:
%LocalAppData%\BendGame\Saved\
Step 4
Move the extracted, Cooked folder you downloaded to this location above.
*Note that this feature is only available in English as of now
This total conversion mod aims to already include most of the features and things you'll need to enjoy the apocalypse without adding a bunch of other mods. However if you MUST add more mods I'm strongly suggesting you only use the mods listed on this page. I cannot guarantee stability of experience if you use other mods that I do not suggest.

-Do not run any additional character or clothing mods.
-Do not run any weapon crosshair or mods that adjust melee weapons.
-Do not run any freaker/zombie mods (except for what is listed here)
-If you run any mods that I do not list here, I cannot offer support if you experience bugs.

Can I play as Rick Grimes or other Walking Dead characters?
This project revolves around the player playing as Daryl Dixon with Merle as his team mate. It will include all the necessary clothing and appearance options that you need to play in the mod. All other Walking Dead universe characters will be side characters or villains in the game. You can play as several optional characters such as Rick, Alpha, Negan, Merle and others in the challenge modes, currently. I am considering releasing a full version of this mod with players playing as Rick but I am unsure when or if this will come out.
Can I use other character mods to play this?
I am strongly suggesting that players do not use other character mods while playing this. I am heavily editing multiple characters in game, so any changes to the files with regards to character edits could break this game. Check out the info on how-to-play for more.
Is this mod compatible with my already started game?
Technically yes, you can jump right into a game you have already played or saved but we recommend you start with a fresh new game.
Will you change this mod or character to another character or add a character I prefer?
Please do not ask me to change major elements of this project. I am okay with feedback but unlikely to make major changes to the project such as character changes/edits. Changing one character model takes a significant amount of config and blueprint work. I have thoroughly considered all aspects of this mod and it is largely what I envisioned when I began. As of now I'm fine tuning the characters I have added.
