I seem to have lost the reshade preset for this and I can't find anything that says what filiters should be enabled. So what filters am I supposed to use for this to work as intended?
How'd you install it? Did you install the reshade files first? I tried installing reshade files first, DDMK + HD Textures second. Even switched up the order of the installation. It still crashes at launch.
when I try to load the shader, I get an error message reading "source UIMask.png for texture V_UIMask_Masktex was not found in any of the texture search paths".
The key_menu thing isn't even in the ReShade.ini and adding it in doesn't fix the issue either. I've tried running it in compatibility mode and more and the menu just doesn't open.
Edit: It was on DirectX10 instead of 9 Thanks aqua.
Had the same issue when I first installed Reshade.
First, did you install the actual Reshade program you need to download online to run my preset? (Though you most likely did, just asked cuz someone else didn't do that.) If so you may have installed Reshade incorrectly, since HD Collection uses DirectX10. Instead of what the standalone port of DMC3SE that uses DirectX9. That should fix it.
If that don't work. Then what I'm about to say surely will, cuz This happened to me exactly: When installing Reshade (the actual program) and it says "Select Game or Application". Click on Browse, go to where HD collection is installed on steam, then instead of clicking on dmc3.exe. Click on the one that says "dmcLauncher" But Remember, click on "DirectX10/11/12". When it asks for the "API"
I did abit of testing, and yes the shadow does flicker but only when the reshade filter isn't enabled. Reshade does not mess with game files when Disabled, so it may just be DMC3. I noticed whenever I'm in Bloody Palace or Nevan boss arena with Reshade "disabled" I don't have a shadow. When I "enable" it, my shadow is back.
Did you drag and drop my preset into the the HD Collection folder? Once you do that play the game, press "Home" key to open Reshade click continue (if it shows up on the screen) then click the arrows at the top until you see my named Preset.
Reinstall Reshade if you want to fix any other issues or just want a fresh update: 1. Download a new Reshade version 2. Choose the Dmc launcher as reshade's targeted program instead of DMC3.exe. 2. When it asks for API, choose Direct 10/11
(Optional) Once installed play DMC and open Reshade with "Home key". Go to Settings and where its says "Effect Toggle key". Click on the little open space next to it and map a key you wouldn't need like "\" or any other key you don't normally use. It quickly enables and disables the filter and all its properties.
How so? Its mostly a lighting edit that simulates casting lights. Does it make the textures look muddy or more the pastels. I'm aware Dmc3 has broken textures from the bad port so does it worsen it?
Also a slight increase to line work on textures too, most evident in small details like DT scales and other devil arms etc. The Beowulf's boss stage is probably the most noticeable in terms of my changes so I'd like to understand which filter is too much or too little.
Best example is Arkham's face. https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/3709/images/8/8-1645789044-575979465.jpeg Too sharp, too bright, too muddy. Looks like diarrhea if it could glow. All the textures look like garbage filtered like this. Colors, contrast, saturation etc. look fine, but you just messed with the detail too much.
Oh so thats what you meant, I had noticed skin textures look more like messy paint like take the seen from Lady with Arkham talking in the hallway. The skin on Lady looks very paint like. Similar to unfinished Pastel blending.
Actually I was more worried about the environment when you said that. (Arkham was already pretty ugly) he remained unchanged to me but everyone with proper skin does look different. Its actually the work of the "comic" filter thats giving that weird effect I only kept it since it increased outlines of objecte/characters from the lighting changes. I'll remove it and find an alternate solution to the outlines and if not then I won't increase the outlines at all.
I've changed everything to be much closer to the original game excepting for lighting of course. Let me know if anymore things I need to change (title screen can't be changed without removing my lighting tweak though)
drop it into the HD collection folder after you've installed Reshade. Then just open Reshade while ingame with "Home" key and press the arrows at the top, it'll show up.
(look at the ZentrikZeke comment thread below for the instructions I've gave to that individual)
Im having issues getting this reshade to work and i have no clue whats doing it. Ive used reshade on several games so im very familiar with installing it. I follow the steps and install with the dmcLauncher, but when the game is running with reshade on it slows my game down BAD, and the audio desyncs. If i toggle the effects off it jumps to the normal 60 i have it set at and runs fine. Ever heard of this happening?
I know of two solutions. 1. Do you have DDMK (the style switcher that is consistently updated) installed and if you do, in the "Systems" tab There is a module that says "framerate" you can change that to 60, 120, or higher. (You probably already know about this but I'm just being sure)
2. Which is the least likely, It has to be the "Arcane Bloom" effect or the "HDR" effect, those and others like them are more intensive on the CPU. However, those are the main parts of the preset and won't look as intended without them. (Since you said your PC is more relevant, I'm guessing a rtx 2060s or higher with a Ryzen5 comparable cpu, so you should be fine.)
Just tested my "first solution" and it worked flawlessly on 120 fps in that module that i mentioned and only it went in slow-mo when I put it on 60fps.
ok so i ended up just doing a clean install of the game and loading reshade first before i redid the mods and that fixed it. Not really sure what caused it in the end but everythings working together fine now so... lmao

This reshade and the textures both use the dxgi file
1. Rename ReShade’s dxgi file to ReShade64.dll
2. copy and paste the text below to special k's config
[Import.ReShade64]
Architecture=x64
Filename=ReShade64.dll
Role=ThirdParty
When=Lazy
3. You should be good to go

Or is it just flickering?
