But then, my Diablo 2 ran fine in Windows 10 without this. I only tried it to see if it looked any better.
This mod IS NOT for widescreen nor higher gameplay resolution, nor does it modify frames-per-second.
All Windows based operating systems and video will not have "scaling performed by : System in the dropdown box." available.
This mod works for both CD installs (No-CD standalone folder) and for Blizzard download versions of Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction EXP Pack Patch 1.14d and also works for Sandboxie Multi-Window/Instances.
What this mod does is removes the visual errors and glitches and excessive monitor flashes for pre Win10 64-bit systems in Windowed Mode (command line -w) and does not change Battle.net gameplay. This mod will modify all shortucts to the specific Diablo II.exe file target under Win8.1 even in admin mode unless you regedit.
It allows allows for VERTICLE fullscreen scaling of the games native 800x600 in your systems native display. It will NOT permit you to use the D2DX Balrog "glidewrapper" (widescreen/expanded resolution) unless you modify the d2dx.cfg file nocompatmodefix location or via the command line. Although it works, it is not neccessary or recommended to run the game in compatibility mode while using the -3dfx command line.
This mod will also removes most of the "twitchy" or "choppy" gameplay of Diablo2 and LoD in Fullscreen mode and Windowed mode (Not Lag/Ping/Latency nor Framerate) from disk installs and DL'd versions when run on a 64-bit system without the need for a graphics mod.
The game will run noticeably better in Windowed mode.
The game may experience lag or temporary freezing during the first initialization of the game after changing the settings, especially in Fullscreen Mode.
You still cannot modify Perspective nor in-game Gamma while in windowed mode and running in compatibility and you must install some sort of glidewrapper to do this or widescreen or high resolution.
