For you guys out there who downloaded the Core Mod required NOT as a .DAZIP file but as a .ZIP file instead. I'm sorry but I think if you are using Chrome, you can only get a .ZIP version. To install it correctly, simply change the .ZIP file by renaming it into .DAZIP file.. And you can install the mod as intended. Or download using Edge or Firefox, that should work too.

In other words, make sure you install using DAUpdater and nothing else. Because DAUpdater doesn't just slap in the files in there, it also builds a registry of items in the correct ID codes and names to refer to. Without it, the mod won't work.

For anyone experiencing naked Duncan or invisible/missing limbs. There's definitely a mod conflict somewhere. I've made this mod all those years ago, and in all that years, the modding community keeps growing, with new mods, and massive overhauls everywhere. When it comes to overhaul mods, there's always a risk of conflict with another mod, just like this one.

This mod is designed to be used best when playing in a new game, not for loading a saved game no matter how early in the game the save is. If you're having issues, my suggestion is to test things out first:

    1. Uninstall everything, your game, your save file, everything in the documents folder..
    2. Reinstall the game, make sure every settings all reset to default.
    3. Install this mod. Remember, always install the CORE mod first, then the MAIN file.
    4. Start a new game, and play around for a while. Try out using the console command to spawn the file, and make sure that Duncan appears properly.
    5. If everything looks okay. Then one by one, install the other mods you have/want.
    6. Everytime you install a mod, start a new game, and do Step 4. again. Make sure Duncan and your item spawn and looks properly.
    7. Chances are, you're gonna come across one or two mod, that after installing it, makes Duncan naked or wear the yellow spandex. Then you'll know which mod conflicts it.

FINAL UPDATE (I hope) OF THE LIGHT GREY WARDEN ARMOUR LOOKING LIKE MEDIUM GREY WARDEN ARMOUR

To those who are also having this problem, I've found the solution! Thanks to lemoncanary631 for putting me in the right direction by pointing out that there's something in the Ferelden pack mod that doesn't like this mod.

Now, to make this mod work with Ferelden pack, you're going to have to delete only two files that can be found here:

Ferelden pack -> Ferelden armor -> Light armor -> Ferelden scout

The files that you specifically need to delete, or remove if you want to keep the files, are these:

    armor_light_variation_wrb.gda

    gloves_light_variation_wrb.gda

You would also need to delete the file named 'Grey Warden', it also turns the light armour back to medium.

I hope this helps others who had the same problem as me with this mod!

    Hi,

Could you please advise, what file name should I look for to fix a conflict with the scout hood?
It makes half of its wearer's head (where the hood should be) invisible (for NPCs, main character and companions alike), while every other equipment works perfectly.
    I uploaded a screenshot here.

I'd like to delete the conflicting file from the responsible mod, but I have no idea what to look for.

The two big mods I use are 'Ferelden Elves - DA2 Style' and 'Unique Characters Overhaul'.

    Any help is appreciated!

EDIT: I was able to fix this issue, but I will leave this comment here in case someone has it in the future.

The culprit was the qunari mage mask (gen_im_arm_hel_med_magb.uti) from the 'qunari update', it has the same item variation as the Grey Warden Scout Hood (gen_im_arm_hel_med_wlt.uti), both being 177.

    How I fixed it:

    1. Opened gen_im_arm_hel_med_magb.uti with Gff Editor
    2. Simply changed the ModelVariation number from 177 to 178 (see screenshot)
    3. Saved and closed the file.

    After this
    4. Opened helmet_medium_variation_mgb.gda with GDApp
    5. Under 'int', I changed 177 to 178 (see screenshot)
    6. Clicked 'File' then 'Save'

And that's it! Of course you can change the item variation to another number, but I found that 178 doesn't conflict with any big mod I use, and I use plenty.

Hello! How to make this mod work for Sten, his body just disappear when I try to equip the  grey warden armors.

Because it doesn't have a body model for Qunari type. The original armor mod where this is based on also doesn't have the Qunari body model. Besides, this mod was intended to have a uniform to be worn by actual Grey Wardens only, that's why it only has body models for any race and body types that a grey warden would be. And Sten was never a grey warden so there was no incentive for me or anyone to make it work for him.

Yeah, I think that's a known issue from time to time, workaround is disable the mod to go through the lothering camp scene, and then re-enable it again afterwards.

Hello... Soooo, i'm pretty sure a LOT of peoples had this bug, but...

First, I have Dragon age origins ultimate edition, downloaded directly from the EA APP.

I followed the instructions to the letter, first, installing the Core Mod, using DAUpdate, then the Main files. After this,I launched the game and a new save...

First, Duncan appears Naked with only his sword and dagger. I still kept playing just in case...  and once in Ostagar : SURPRISE : Alistair also appears naked with only the Grey warden's sword. No shield or anything (not even his worry token).

I honestly can't understand what I did wrong,. All others mods I put added cutscenes for the romances or background. I also have a haircut mod and an eyes color replacer and "sacred ashes Leliana (alongsides her armor), so unless this mod clashes with Loincloth Fashion, I honestly can't see what the heck is wrong...

GWoF and LCF do not have any conflicts. (You can check this spreadsheet of Item Variations in use if you want to confirm for yourself.)

Check your override folder for multiples of the UTC files for Duncan and Alistair (and those of any other 'naked' NPCs). Conflicting UTC files can cause what you are describing (missing gear, 'naked NPCs).

Alistair's main UTC file that is affected by GWoF is gen00fl_alistair.utc

Duncan's initial UTC files altered by GWoF are:
pre100cr_duncan.utc (in the Ostagar portion of the game)
bdn120cr_duncan.utc (used for the Dwarf Noble origin)
      bhn100cr_duncan.utc (Human Noble origin)
      bdc140cr_duncan.utc (Dwarf Commoner origin)
      bec100cr_duncan.utc (City Elf origin)
      bhm300cr_duncan.utc (Circle Mage origins)
      bed100cr_duncan.utc (Dalish Elf origin)

With what you wrote, I also have :

      Cir300cr_grey_warden.utc
      Cir350cr_duncan.utc
      Cir350cr_warden_1.utc
      Cir350cr_warden_2.utc
      cli300cr_riordan.utc
      den510cr_riordan.utc
      urn230cr_Alistair.utc

Are they the ones who mess up everything ? Because besides them, I dont have anything else that change thoses characters

EDIT : By using the research fonction, I saw that I had three bed100cr_duncan.utc due to Sabrae clan farewell. But I'm playing as a human mage...

EDIT 2 : after deleting cir350cr_duncan_utc from the override, duncan finaly appeared clothed.

Those other UTC files wouldn't have any effect on either Alistair or Duncan in the origin stories or at Ostagar.

urn230cr_Alistair.utc is Alistair's doppelganger in the Gauntlet during  the Urn of Sacred Ashes.
cir350cr_duncan.utc is the 'Duncan' encountered in the Fade during Lost in Dreams.
The other UTCs are for other NPCs. (The two Riordan files are for different parts of the game.)

UTC files are only in conflict with one another when they have the exact same name.

Well, that's odd, because since i disabled them, everything started to work fine. Duncan is wearing his armor and Alistair now not only have said armor, but also the sword and Shield (and his token).

Unfortunately, it seems I've made a mistake at downloading the EA app version... I have CTD once in a while, even without any mod installed

The game has an unpatched engine-related memory leak, which can cause CTDs (and other things, like textures not loading). The issue is not specific to the EA app version; it also affects the Steam and GOG downloads and physical media.

There are some steps that can be taken to mitigate the memory leak, and make the game more stable in general:

      • Patch the game executable to use up to 4GB of RAM (rather than the 2GB it is natively restricted to as an 32-bit app). You can patch the EA download version with either the 4GB patch or Large Address Aware (LAA). (The Steam version of the game has a special patching procedure due to the executable being encrypted. The GOG version is - or was, haven't checked recently - pre-patched to use 4GB of RAM.)
      • Turn off all overlay programs, like the EA App in-game features. DAO does not run well with overlays active.
      • Save-and-reload regularly, which will free up memory.
      • Use a Windows compatibility mode, to more closely reflect the OS environment the game was originally intended to run under. (Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 are good places to start, but trial and error will determine what the best option is for any system.)

It is not possible that any UTC file other than the ones I initially listed could have any effect on the first appearances of Alistair or Duncan.  I can't explain what you say is happening in your game, but I do know how character files (UTCs) work, and it's simply not possible that an NPC from another map at another point in the game would have any conflict or interaction with Duncan's origin arc and Ostagar UTCs and Alistair's principle UTC.

Thanks to OfficialyJewls I was able to fix incompability with "Ferelden pack". If someone play mage like myself, you can meet invisible "Grey Warden Arcane Hood". Solvation is simple: you should delete .gda located by this path(Ferelden pack -> Ferelden armor -> Light armor -> Helmet). If you use this mod for some pretty utcs just like me i don't think it should cause serious problems:)

Not without creating new textures that include those specific elements. Metal and cloth areas aren't on separate textures.

Make sure you did install both Core Mod GWoF - REQUIRED (with DAUpdater) and Main File - Grey Wardens of Ferelden in your Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override. E.g. Wardens_of_Ferelden.erf  should be present in the override.

Then make sure there is only one instance of these files in the override (if there's more than one copy each from different mods, the game can't decide which one to use and reverts to the undressed body model):
      bdc140cr_duncan.utc, bdn120cr_duncan.utc, bec100cr_duncan.utc, bed100cr_duncan.utc, bhm300cr_duncan.utc, bhn100cr_duncan.utc, bhn100cr_duncan.utc.

Or maybe (is it a fresh reinstall?) you need a 4GB/LAA patch. Unless it's a newer "pre-patched" GOG version, that one's just broken.

Alisters armor is two different tints. It works fine for Duncans and PC armor but his its tinted oddly. I have Armenta shaders With Semi bright for all the armors, but his is a strange tan brown color. I am using UDK but it shouldnt be affecting his armor. I also do have IA and installed the IA addon.

Also is there a way to change Duncans armor in cutscenes?

FIXED: Had the trailer armors by accident

No, cutscenes are pre-rendered by Bioware during the development phase. They're not rendered in real time by the game engine. It's like playing a video file. What you see is what you get. The only way those cutscenes to be modded is if we have access to the animation source file change the outfit and re-renders the cutscene again and make a new video file to be placed. But we don't have them.

Is the 'DA2 Elves mod for the elven female' tmp7704's elf update (the 'proportions-elf_da2' folder)? If so, try either deleting the conflicting files from that mod:
      ef_arm_wlta.msh
      ef_arm_wmda.msh
      ef_arm_wmsa.msh
      ef_arm_wrba.msh
      ef_boo_wmda.msh
      ef_boo_wrba.msh
      ef_glv_wmda.msh
      ef_glv_wrba.msh

or, adjusting the load priority for the two mods (make the files for both mods are in their own folders in the override, and then give load precedence to one of the mods by adding the prefix zzz_ to the folder name.

I recommend either the first method, or giving the priority to the GWoF folder. Because the elf update body replacer does not include files for all the DA2-style Warden armors, adjusting the folders to give priority to that mod may not fix the issue, since you would still have a mix of files from both mods.
