Short of teaching myself how to mod the armor mod and make the Bann clothing regular light armor (I'm trying but I'm slow, I haven't made it through the 'extending gda's" tut yet) ... how do I get him in the armor?

Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience; I don't have the energy to pay much attention to the DAO modding scene any more, and thus have been lax in making sure my mods are re up-to-date and in sync with current releases... Oh hey, no worries, I'm a spoonie mess myself right now (which is why I'm having trouble figuring this out on my own, honestly). It's all good, don't tax yourself over it.
And fwiw, I have p much all your mods, and this is the only one that has any kind of an issue - which, really isn't on you, but I can't ask over at the other mod so I thought I'd try here. You do good work, and it's appreciated.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback on my small efforts... it really does make my day better to know that something I did was useful.
So. I took a look at the current download of Ferelden Pack, and the issue is, in fact, an error in that mod. The ItemVariation ID in the UTI for the clothing is '83' (as it was in the prior version of that mod):
But the GDA uses '87' as the ID:
If those two numbers (UTI ModelVariation and GDA ID) aren't the same for an item, bad stuff happens.
I added a GDA that fixes the error to the 'misc' section of my files (since the permissions for Ferelden Pack allow bugfixes), or, if you feel like playing with files, you can open the original GDA in GDApp, and change the Bann robe ID from '87' to '83'.
Thanks for alerting me to the problem, and I hope you feel better soon.
Oh wow - heart eyes cos you have made my day, not only with the file but with how to fix it myself if need be. You've gone above and beyond, and I thank you :-D
Look under 'Optional' files, there's a download for Awakening. Be sure to install just one of the variations included in the download; there are four different choices of weapons:
Version 1: He'll be equipped with Duncan's Shield and Maric's Blade. (requires RtO DLC) Version 2: He'll be equipped with the Willem's Bulwark shield (which is visually similar to the shield Alistair carries in the Dark Horse comics) and Maric's Blade. (requires Loincloth Fashion) Version 3: No weapons or shield equipped. Version 4: He'll be equipped with Duncan's Shield and an ordinary Grey Warden longsword, as in vanilla DAA.
The current version of Ferelden pack still has the same issue: the ItemVariation used by the UTI and GDA for the clothing item worn by Alistair in my mod has not been addressed. Likewise, there are still known ItemVariation ID conflicts for almost every other item in the mod... the lone exception is one of the tower shields.
This is so wonderful. Thank you! It really enhances the overall game to make it feel like it fits and flows into the overall stories of Thedas told in the following games.

I posted some information a while back about ItemVariations and editing them that you may find useful... it's mostly about addressing conflicts between two mods (rather than within one mod), but the basic principles still apply > How to eliminate Item Variation conflicts

Ok - the problem def isn't on your end - I *just* found the mod that removes class restrictions, and what is showing as the Bann Robe isn't Alistair's armor. So ... my apologies, your mod is working perfectly, it's the other one that is the full issue.
Is he also wearing this in the "Ultimate Sacrifice" (Warden's funeral) ending if he is alive as king?
While I did not (and cannot) test this file in an US ending, since this edit just replaces/overrides the base-game UTC file, it should appear as the epilogue gear for all endings. Anecdotally, I have used similar edits with other armours, and they did in fact work for a Dead!Warden epilogue.
One example:
(Or here, since the video embed only seems to work on the forum pages, not in the comments area.)
It will, however, not work with something like a funeral or wedding epilogue cutscene mod that scripts Alistair into a specific set of armour... it can only change equipment in cutscene mods that use the base-game UTC.
*If* you were ever to do a similar mod for King Alistair's appearance in Awakening, that would also be fabulous, though I can think of any number of reasons you might not be interested in doing any such thing, and that's perfectly reasonable. I'm grateful that you're willing to share what you've already made! Thanks!
I've added an optional Awakening version, or rather, an archive with several Awakening versions. (Because why do a thing if you can't do it to annoyingly pedantic excess, amiright?)
Version 1: He'll be equipped with Duncan's Shield and Maric's Blade. (Requires RtO DLC!) Version 2: He'll be equipped with the Willem's Bulwark shield (which is visually similar to the shield Alistair carries in the Dark Horse comics) and Maric's Blade. (Requires Loincloth Fashion!) Version 3: No weapons or shield equipped. Version 4: He'll be equipped with Duncan's Shield and an ordinary Grey Warden longsword, as in vanilla DAA.
Note that none of the files have been tested in-game, since my video card and DAO hate each other and when I install the game I can't see anything but a black screen. (And apologies for the shoddy work ethic on my part; I know it is poor form to release anything without properly testing it. )
It was no trouble at all, and I find it's best if I jump on a project right away.... and thank you for the images! I approved them, but they aren't showing up yet for some reason. (I hate this site redesign; nothing seemd to work right any more.)

Constructive criticism is fine. Informing me that you personally have no use for a mod is of no value.

Is there a way to use it in his short visit in Awakening as well?
