Regarding Lyall's DAFix; It seems the author of that mod has had some issues with their github account and is in the process of migrating a lot of their work to Codeberg instead https://codeberg.org/Lyall
At the time of writing this DAFix has not be re-uploaded yet, but hopefully will just be a matter of time. I'm not going to upload another authors work here without permission. Could probably find it using google...
Hello would just like to let you know that DAFix no longer seems to be on GitHub. I don't know if it was taken down due to multiple comments of Windows Defender flagging it incorrectly or if there were any other issues. Seems to be recent too as I myself downloaded it about a month back or so.
*Update* Never got it to work via Steam. I just got GOG and called it a day.
I am so new at this, I've only ever modded Planet Zoo. I am currently going step by step from your instructions, but my installer setup for addins and origins are not going. For the addins, it says I need a code--"view game CD key" option and I'm assuming thats if I had bought it via disk forever ago. But the download stops after a certain point. Did I do something wrong?
Hi ! I've started a new game and loaded off once wasn't able to log again and that's when your guide come in handy so I did everything step by step.
But I didn't want to lose my save so I kept it and when trying to resume it doesn't work saying I haven't gotten all the DLCs to run it correctly I could force it but haven't yet, is this something you could help with or am I doomed to create a new character and start again from scratch ?
It says "Blood dragon armor" and "Dragon Age Awakening" are missing.
You should be able to verify if these are installed correctly in the in-game "installed content" tab. If not then you likely missed a step when following the guide.
Go to your game install directory in the ./packages folder you should see a folder called "core_ep1" (awakenings) in the ./Addins folder you should see a folder called "DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME" (blood dragon armor)
If these are present you could try running "DAOU_UpdateAddinsXML_Steam.exe" from your game install directory ./redist folder. (assuming you are on steam)
If these are not present then you need to re-install the game.
I'm indeed on steam and I tried the "DAOU_UpdateAddinsXML_Steam.exe" (seemed useless though like it did nothing at all..) so I started your guide all over once before seeking help here.
I ended up downloading an AddIns.xml file somewhere while looking for solutions last night and replacing mine with it fixed my problem ^^
Now everything works fine again, thank you for the fast reply :)
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for this guide. It seems to be the only one that has actually worked for me, I cried. I've spent the last few weeks after I finished DATV trying to get it to work on my new PC because I wanted to go back to the beginning and play my Warden. But every time it crashed, and I couldn't even get to the CC. I had tried the guide from Steam, I had uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, including, hard install from my original Ultimate collection disc, game purchased and installed across, Steam, GOG and EA. Applied the various patches and fixes, nothing worked I was getting ready to give up hope, that I would ever play this game again.
Thank you so much for this guide! I really appreciated the level of detail not just in the instructions, but in the explanations. Super clear and wonderfully helpful.
Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition on steam doesn't have any of the main dlc? how can i access/download them? I was able to follow this for the promotional dlc which is great, but I dont know how to get anything else.
For anyone that has the game on steam and runs into the same problem: https://help.ea.com/ca/help/faq/dlc-for-classic-games/#dragonage you can download each mod from here, run the .exe and it will install into your game on steam.
Hi killeradio, If you followed the guide this should not be an issue.
I will copy paste advice to another commenter here:

Please be sure to read the guide fully, and follow each step, before posting complaints etc.
Otherwise you will likely be ignored (or face some vicious sarcasm).
Happy gaming!

does Lyall's DAFix work for steam version only?
Haven't found anything to replace it with either :(
Are there any other settings do you recommend to enable/add in dxvk.conf?
