Small overhaul to Arcane Warrior playstyle. Combat Magic now grants more attack and it's fatigue is greatly reduced, but also now affect some spell effectiveness. Also brings some other changes to other spells, like ability to cast with weapon draw. You can now play true Spellsword character!

Permissions and credits
Recently, I create mod called “True Combat Magic“. Since then, I made other changes to AW playstyle and now it’s close to complete overhaul, so I thought I’ll share them.

Arcane Warrior is without a doubt my favorite playstyle in DA:O. But I never really liked how they handle AW spellcasting. So I make this mod, to remove high fatigue from Combat Magic and instead make some penalties for spell effectiveness when Combat Magic is active. I also make some other changes to many other spells, for example making AW less indestructible and allow some spells to be cast with weapon draw.

Arcane Warrior prefer to be in heat of battle, with sword in hand facing his enemies. So it’s only understandable that he is less concentrate on his spells, which are then less effective. Many Primal Spells now deal less damage when Combat Magic is active. They are still useful though, frost spells, Stonefist and Fireball are great for CC and many spells can now be cast with your weapon draw. Combat Magic now also provide much more attack and it now scales with MAG.

Installation: just unzip and drop in Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core\override

Note 1: If you don’t want my changes to Haste, just remove file 'abi_base_haste.gda'.
Note 2: If you want only my changes to AW spell line, remove everything
except: 'abi_combat_magic.gda' and 'spell_combat_magic.ncs'.

This mod is not compatible with any other mod that change spells listed bellow.


List of changes: (Unlisted effects remain unchanged)

Combat Magic:
Fatigue: 50% 5%
Attack now scales with MAG (instead of Spellpower) and with same amount as with STR and DEX (0.5 MAG = 1 attack)

Aura of Might:
Increase Attack: 5
Increase Defense: 10
Increase Damage: 5
NEW: Increase Attack speed by 15%

 Shimmering Shield:
Increase Armor: 15
Increase Fire, Cold, Electrical, Nature and Spirit Resistance: 75% 20%
Mana Regeneration Penalty: 10 5

Fade Shroud:
Increase Dodge: 25% 10%
Increase Mana Regeneration: +1 +0.5

Flame Blast:
Can now be cast with weapon draw
Deals only 33% damage when Combat Magic is active

Fireball:
Cooldown: 10s 20s
Can now be cast with weapon draw
Deals only 33% damage when Combat Magic is active

Inferno:
No longer can be cast with weapon draw

Stonefist:
Cooldown: 15s 10s
Now deals Nature Damage
Can now be cast with weapon draw
Deals only 33% damage when Combat Magic is active

Winter's Grasp:
Cooldown: 8s 10s
Can now be cast with weapon draw
Deals only 33% damage when Combat Magic is active

Cone of Cold:
Freeze duration: 8s 5s
Can now be cast with weapon draw
Deals only 33% damage when Combat Magic is active

Blizzard:
No longer can be cast with weapon draw

Lightning:
Can now be cast with weapon draw
Deals only 33% damage when Combat Magic is active

Shock:
Can now be cast with weapon draw
Deals only 33% damage when Combat Magic is active

Tempest:
No longer can be cast with weapon draw

Chain Lightning:
Deals only 50% damage when Combat Magic is active

Rejuvenate:
Can now be cast with weapon draw

Heroic Defense:
Can now be cast with weapon draw

Heroic Offense:
Can now be cast with weapon draw

Haste:
Attack penalty: 5
Increase Attack speed by 25% 15%
Mana Regeneration Penalty: 3 2

Mind Blast:
Can now be cast with weapon draw

Vulnerability Hex:
Can now be cast with weapon draw

Affliction Hex:
Can now be cast with weapon draw

Horror:
Can now be cast with weapon draw

Drain Life:
Can now be cast with weapon draw
