"The mod is excellent, providing a very comfortable gaming experience. Nevertheless, I've encountered a bug. In the menu, using 2 K resolution at a 16:9 aspect ratio, numerous menu options are unresponsive to clicks. Thank you for your contribution to the game."

It's not really a bug but it should be noted.

The selected objects are unresponsive because the coordinates for each thing were painstakingly input manually by their position on the screen. Essentially I have told the controller that when this button is pushed move the mouse to coordinates 32.50 by 73.50, left click, then return to 50.0 by 50.0. When another button is pushed move the mouse to that position, left click, then return to center. It all requires a screen resolution of 1920 by 1080 at 16:9. I believe this is the most common resolution. Anything bigger or smaller will change the location of objects on the screen causing the mouse position to left click areas where nothing is at. I'm afraid that is just the way it is without being able to program the game itself to recognize the weapons icon in your inventory from your armor icon. Or adjusting all of those coordinates to reflect the different screen resolutions which there are about twenty or thirty of. Sorry but that's thousands of adjustments when, I believe, most people are using 1920 by 1080.

Thanks a lot for this module! It makes DAO comfortably playable with a controller in front of a TV, even for a DAO beginner.

I love this mod, feels a lot more like the console experience that I grew up with, but I am having a problem figuring out how to aim the mage cone attack without focusing on a specific enemy. Can it be done?
Never mind, A works fine for cone spells, and probably anything with a crosshair.
I had a problem getting it run at all, like some others here, the game was installed through EA desktop, after installing it from the Ultimate DVD everything worked as it should.

I'm glad you were able to get it to work successfully but I don't know anything about an Ultimate DVD, I use STEAM. Not a distinction I thought was relevant. But if you aren't using STEAM and still got it to work then I guess it's not. I will make that a note for others though. Thanks.

This mod looks very promising but I can't figure it out on how to make it work.

I'm on XBOX One controller but nothing seems to detect the mod when I'm in game, I don't know what I did wrong since I've followed the instructions
    Any help?

      Have you watched the video?

What DOES it do? First thing to check is open JoyToKey. Doesn't really matter which profile it is on for this, but you should have DAO 00 Title Controls selected when starting the game. Anyway, open JoyToKey and rotate the left and right sticks. If your controller is being read at all then you will see yellow highlights flicking on and off as you rotate the sticks. If you scroll down you can check that each button is mapped correctly by matching them in sequence.
      1. is button A
      2. is button B
      3. is button X
      4. is button Y...
If those are working then this mod is working and it has to do with your setup. JoyToKey must be open while you are playing. The mod manager is not necessary. You must have FTG UI mod installed which makes the boxes bigger and you need to have the screen resolution set to 1920 by 1080 widescreen. That should be everything needed for it to function properly.

Hi! First off I want to thank you for all your hard work.

This mod looks fantastic, but like the user above I can't get it to work. I'm also on a XBOX One Controller and have followed the instructions step by step. I have the FtG UI Mod installed, screen resolution set to 1920 x 1080, JoyToKey is open while running the game, it flickers yellow, I have DAO 00 Title Controls selected...

I have no other mods installed and can't figure out what's wrong.

      Thanks!

I apologize for only seeing your comment over a month later. I wasn't ignoring you. I don't get notifications.

That said, I don't really know how to help. Partly because it's been so long since I created the mod that I barely know anything about it anymore. I've created three other projects for three different games since then. I have an outdated video that might help. What is outdated is barely of consequence. I think they are mainly just little tweaks that were added after the video and don't really have to do with the installation. Copy the files to the JoyToKey folder in the Documents folder. The Bioware files to the Bioware folder also in Documents. Have FTG UI mod installed and the screen ratio set to 1920 x 1080 at 16:9. And finally you must leave JoyToKey open while playing. The mod organizer is not required for JoyToKey to work but it is suggested for properly installing your mods, which, as you know, you need FTG UI mod in order for this mod to work.

Can you tell me what it is doing? Is it not functioning at all? Is it clicking the wrong place? Is the button layout not correct like when you press A it is performing the action of X?

Is there anyone reading this who has successfully used an XBOX One controller? I do not own one myself. I tested it with a generic controller that has the same button format of an XBOX controller but I don't know if there is any difference between an XBOX and an XBOX One controller. The button layout in JoyToKey were the same for both.

How does this work exactly?? I followed instructions but when I open joystick, the DAO 00 cannot be selected. It only shows 2 profiles which are both empty

I just downloaded both versions and all files are present and functioning without issue. Make sure you are using JoyToKey version 7.0.0 or higher. Most of the profiles have little in them because they are working for specific things. DAO 00 Title Controls operates some of the title screen which is then handed off to a different profile to move down the options. Dragon Age was not created with menu commands so this controller points to a location on the screen and moves the mouse to that location simulating a standard menu system. Rather than twirling the mouse to each location it quickly jumps to it.

Are you sure you followed instructions? There is a video. It's outdated for 2.0 but the essence of it is the same.

***Requires FtG UI Mod - More Readable Fonts and UI***

***Requires your screen resolution be 1920 x 1080 at 16:9***
***Actually this only applies if you want the menus. Primary Controls work on any resolution independently.***

So we don't need that mod and we don't need to downscale our game resolution just to be able to play with a controller?

I'm so confused as to why a control config would require a UI mod and a worse resolution? I have a 1440p monitor and want to play in 1440p. No way in Hell am I lowering the resolution to 1080p lol. I'm perfectly fine with the small menus. Why does this config require it? If it works just fine without it, why isn't it listed as "recommended" instead of "required" if it doesn't actually *require* it?

Because the basic controls don't require it. That is ONE out of the FIFTY THREE profiles designed for this gamepad. You can play without the others but it is limited to just running and attacking. That's fine if that's all you want. The rest such as menus and Take All require an exact size, which is explained in the sticky post at the top of the screen by the way, because they are programmed to specific points on the screen. If the UI and resolution are not the same as listed then the places the controller are selecting on the screen will not be in the same location rendering it pointless.

It wasn't something that was taken into consideration when I originally made the controller and was brought to my attention later that people use other resolutions. There are a few dozen locations that were painstakingly programmed. Adjusting all of those for every resolution is not something I am willing to do. Go for it. Try making the adjustments for your 1440p. I've already done most of the work getting it close so you're welcome. Either set it up how I've told you or make your own adjustments. Or don't download it. I'm not getting paid either way.

wow, this is fantastic, has anyone tried this with a steam deck?

Thank you. It makes it all worthwhile to know that some people appreciate my work. Please endorse.
I built the controller using the Steam version of Dragon Age Origins.

I'm nearly finished with my Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion controller if you would be interested in that at some point in time. I pride myself on making a product you can trust to be both comfortable and efficient.

EDIT: I looked up what a  Steam Deck is. Unfortunately it's screen resolution is 1280 x 800 so the menus and maps will not hit the correct spot. The Primary Controls will  work perfectly fine. That is unless you can change the resolution to 1920 x 1080. As you can see I am not familiar with Steam Deck.

EDIT2: I found this. Changing your resolution to 1920 x 1080 should work.

      • The Steam Deck's default resolution is roughly 720p, but it can support gaming up to 1080p while in handheld mode.
