Something worth pointing out that isn't so much a bug as it is a DAI design flaw. The dragon greatsword grip doesn't line up with any pommels. This isn't an issue with this mod, but with the sizing of the grip for the original weapon. (It could work if the hilt was extended, but I don't know of any mods that do that) So, if anyone decides to use said grip, be sure to install an invisible pommel. Just be aware, the hand positions may look a little off at the base of the grip.
Is it possible to replace 2 grips? I'm using your blade switch mod to have a rogue with 2 longswords with longsword grips, but the mods override each other in Frosty and only change one grip even if the mod is twice on the modlist with different settings.
If it were renamed, maybe Frosty would think it was 2 different mods?
No. If they have different settings they should change different items. Can you post a picture of the things you chose, or just type your selections below please? Your description sounds like there's bug.
Umm, I'm not sure a picture would help, but basically, in Frosty:
1. install the mod 2. replace balanced dagger grip with the tevinter longsword grip 3. install the mod again 4. replace the 3 edged grip with the raider grip
When I load the game, only the tevinter grip works.
Don't install the mod and then install it again. Instead, Copy the .daimod file using Windows File Explorer.
You should have one called "Sv_Grip_Switcher.daimod" (or whatever it's called) and a copy of it called, "Copy of Sv_Grip_Switcher.daimod". You can rename the new file if you want - it doesn't matter. You will then have TWO files for the Mod Manager to process. They may come up in the Mod Manager with the same name. That doesn't matter either.
Hey Svarty! Figured I'd bug you over here now. Haha.
Before I start messing around, is it possible to wholly replace a greatsword for a longsword? If, for example, I want to use the Inquisitor's dragon sword 1h model as a 2handed sword?
A weapon comprises the weapon (i.e. for swords it's "blade") and the other bits (handle &/or pommel - aka Upgrades).
When you find/make a one-piece weapon, the other bits don't have slots in the ItemAppearance file because the graphics for the model are a whole weapon, but with mods you can add the other bits - they will then graphically clip the one-piece.
My mods affect recipes, so if you look in a weapon recipe, you can swap which EquipTemplate it points to and it will make that other weapon. When you make it, the parts from the recipe file will be there (i.e. Slots, level requirements, name), but the things from the new Equip Template will be there too (it's appearance, whether Varric can use it, passive ability etc).
The answer to your question is Yes, you can entirely replace stuff. If you want to use a one-handed thing as two-handed, you will be editing the ItemAppearance file and swapping the ItemPartAppearances inside it (you will have a pommel, grip and a blade to swap, unless it's a one-piece ofc).
You're editing at that level because ... remember the file structure? Recipe->EquipTemplate->ItemAppearance->ItemPartAppearance->elayLoadBundleHash
EquipTemplate is AKA EquipItemAsset
If you try to edit the EquipTemplate, that file contains a link to a file called an ItemType, which tells the game how your character holds the weapon. You want to bypass that so it holds the new weapon like a greatsword, presumably, otherwise there's no point. That's why you go down one level to the ItemAppearance.
Hey Svarty. Thank you for the great mod as always. I was trying to make my grip look like Tidarion. Which should be called "Masterwork Ornate Greatsword Grip" and it does exist in the first segment but not in the "choose appearance" segment. Unless i am missing it or it's named differently. Could you help me find out which one i should pick ?
Edit: Forgot to mention that i was trying to change wide greatsword grip into tidarion one. So it is greatsword to greatsword.
I went ahead and acquired the actual upgrade schematic instead of appearance switching. Still a great mod for cross weapon type upgrades, endorsed!
Hello, Can confirm the mod work flawlessly with latest FrostyMM beta 1.0.5.10
I was fooling around with Blade switcher and curiosity get the better of me, I put Greatsword blade on daggers I was like "Boy, that skinny elf swinging daggers with big ass blades looks fun"
So yeah, if this mod is still updated, how about adding switchable dagger grip? I mean wielding two sword is a thing in DA:O, though not that good due to skill limitations
This is mostly done. I'm having some issues that I want to either fix, or remove the options from the menu.
Here is Stone Stalker Dagger hilt (Dagger part app hilt 18) with dragon greatsword hilt appearance:
Some things aren't happening, so it's going to take some time to test to try to get to the bottom of the issue. Also, the disabling routine is failing. This is quite peculiar. Please stand by.
I think the reason things don't seem to be happening is that Bioware have named more than one thing with each name. It's all quite confusing, so if your Balanced Dagger Hilt hasn't changed, it might be because there's another hilt in the game with that name and that one might have changed (unless there's a third hilt with the same name). It might even be a hilt that there isn't a recipe for (i.e. one that you might find on a loot item). Good luck!
Still to do: Copy the other menu and hashes to the Longsword and Greatsword mods. This should not take long to do. This is now done.
Dude, I never thought you will take my word seriously It's almost like even they programmed the game to say "we know you will do this, and no, dual swords still not acceptable hurr-durr" Thank You for making this , I will try it
EDIT: Works Flawlessly with latest FrostyMM beta 1.0.5.10, found that Dagger_part_app_hilt_4 is "Andraste's Grasp" (dual dagger grip schematic), Will try to post some I've found here, still trying to find Ornate Dagger grip, Found It Here's the list of Switchable Dagger Grip: Consult with Sapphim's Image for appearance numerical reference in this list
Format: Grip in menu = Grip in image (In game name, Type, Extra info) _0_Dagger_Balanced_Grip = 0013a (Balanced Grip, Dagger Upgrades, sold by Redcliffe village Merchant) _1_Dagger_Default_Grip = 009a (Default Grip, Non upgraded dagger grip) _2_Dagger_Dragon_Grip = dragon (Dragon Dagger Grip, Dragon Dagger Schematic & Weapon) _3_Dagger_Dragon_Grip = --Not Found Yet-- _4_Dagger_Edgy__Grip = 008a (Edgy Dagger Grip, Dagger Upgrades, From war table operation) _5_Dagger_Firm_Grip = 006a (Ornate Grip, Dagger Grip Schematic & Firm Dagger grip, Dagger upgrades (lvl19)) _6_Dagger_Firm_Grip = 017a (Firm Dagger Grip, Dagger Upgrades (lvl23), Aurora's Freedom dagger from Black emporium) _7_Dagger_Masterwork_Bound_Grip = 005a* (Masterwork Bound Grip, Dagger Upgrades, sold by Merchant in Val Royeaux) _8_Dagger_Masterwork_Firm_Grip = 0016a (Chalice Dagger Grip, Dagger grip Schematics & Masterwork Firm Grip, Random Loot Dagger Upgrades) _9_Dagger_part_app_hilt_4 = 004a (Andraste's Grasp, Dual Dagger Grip Schematic) _10_Dagger_part_app_hilt_11 = 011a (Balanced Grip, Dagger Grip Schematic) _11_Dagger_part_app_hilt_14 = --No Model-- (Invisible Grip?) _12_Dagger_part_app_hilt_18 = 018a (Masterwork Ornate Grip, Dual Dagger Grip Schematic) _13_Dagger_part_app_hilt_5 = 005a (Masterwork Dagger Grip, Dagger Grip Schematic) _14_Dagger_part_app_hilt_9 = 009a (Default Grip, Non upgraded dagger grip) _15_Dagger_Pointy_Grip = 007a (Pointy Dagger Grip, Dagger Grip Upgrade, sold by Redcliffe village Merchant) _16_Dagger_Pointy_Grip = 012a (Pointed Dagger Grip, Dagger Grip Schematic)
* -- Even though Masterwork Bound Grip has the same model as Masterwork Dagger Grip Schematic, changes only affect Masterwork Bound Grip (it seems both have same model with different names)
are you planning on doing dualblade grip? i use longsword model, ferelden one I think for dualblade but the sword hilt still there, if only I can make one of the handle invisible that would be great. and I cant use your longsword and armor. game freeze at start when there is green inquisition logo bottom right. frosty user only.
Im sorry to say it but i cannot get the greatsword version of the mod to work at all, no matter wich grip i chose to change or which grip i chose to change it too nothing will change in game, i can get all your other mods plus the longsword version to work no problem so im not sure if its simply broken or im doing something wrong. maybe its the grip i chose to test it it with? im trying it with the "thick grip" and the "wide grip".
Some of Svarty's mods don't work on Frosty, likely due to some obscure bug involving copying over the Configuration UI and processing code, but I'm happy to say this one works fine. Cassandra looked weird having a skull on the bottom of her longsword, but she needed the leather attack slots.. Now she has a nice Tevinter Longsword grip instead. No crashes to desktop in vanilla regions, even with a myriad of other mods running. I would love to see a 2h version at some point. Endorsed!

If it were renamed, maybe Frosty would think it was 2 different mods?
1. install the mod
2. replace balanced dagger grip with the tevinter longsword grip
3. install the mod again
4. replace the 3 edged grip with the raider grip

It's probably a DAIM->Frosty thing though ^^

Configure each separately.
Let me know whether or not that works.
Same goes for the greatswords for that matter!
