I still see a lot of people struggling with this mod, and it looks like the author doesn't seem active anymore, so I thought I'd make a post detailing how to use these and any issues you might have since I've played multiple playthroughs with them both.
♡ General Tips - These should be toward the end of your load order with Frosty. I have them below nearly everything. Always load the Skill Tree before the Weapon. Don't use All Ability Trees For Inquisitior even for Stormblade, It seems like there are minor conflicts which cause Infinite Load Screens and bugged abilities. If they aren't working, go into your Frosty Mods folder and delete all the old mods and old .archive files you aren't using. You can absolutely have a long modlist, I have 50 Frosty Mods active and these both still work fine, you just can't have anything affecting Skilltrees or the Elgar'nan Enaste/Armada Knives. The Schematics, if you want to use the weapons, are Tresspasser exclusives. You can get them with Schematic Spree - DLC.
♡ Stormblade - Load the skill tree before the Dagger mod and you should be fine. I don't like the Daggers so I just craft a pair. You can absolutely use different ones and still use the skill tree, just make sure to have the Dagger mod in your load order still. Keep in mind, Soriyumi didn't include an Early Unlock for this so you still have to go about unlocking the Necromancer tree the vanilla way. Might be a slow first few levels until you hit Skyhold (make sure to get The Short List Perk so you can just buy the Skulls), but I found it wasn't too painful if you just autoattack with OP crafted daggers and use the Lightning Tree.
♡ Eldritch Archer - My personal favorite spec. It's not as buggy as people make it out to be, and not buggy at all if you take the necessary precautions. I'd heavily recommend the Early Unlock version, it's the only one I use and I haven't had many issues. Place your older save files/Non-Eldritch Archer saves in another location outside of the game files so the game doesn't have them loaded up. You have to start a new game, and I wouldn't even load the game up with the mod not active as your save will turn into a Rogue one, which breaks it. If you don't like the bow (I don't), Svarty's Configurable Bow is fully compatible with this as long as you still have the Eldritch Archer weapon mod loaded up. Even if you don't plan to use the Bow this mod provides, you still have to have it in your load order as that along with the skill mod is what Enables Bows for Mages. If you want to play on a new save file without the Eldritch Archer subclass, store your Eldritch Archer file somewhere outside of the game files so it isn't loaded up. This should prevent any issues with breaking your save.
I've tried used the Eldritch Archer, but my game gets stuck in a black loading screen after selecting my race and class. Have you had an issue like this?
One last thing and again I appreciate you in advance. I have the Early Unlock version and the Electricity Passive version, yet I’m not allowed to use bows as a Mage. From reading I don’t think that’s ass intended? I don’t have any other mod affecting weapons/abilities. Do I have to spec into the “class” or reach a certain point first?
No. The only bow you can Equip is the Elgar'nan Enaste. You can craft it early if you have the Schematic (personally I used a mod to get a bunch of materials so I could craft it after you go to the Hinterlands), if not you need Schematic Spree for Tresspasser Schematics. You can also use Svarty's Configurable Bow if you don't like it (which is what I did). Basically, every bow in the game except this one still has the Rogue Only tag.
Okay thank you for clearing that up. Which mod do you use in order to craft earlier once you reach the Hinterlands? I have Schematic Spree, but wasn’t aware there was a mod to get good schematics even earlier. Unless Schematic Spree for Trespassers is the same mod you were referencing. Again. Thank you for the speedy replies.
Thanks for the tips. I really struggle, since i like this mod and would like to use it. But there's still one thing i find RP-wise a bit unfortunate for my Goodie-two-shoes-Inkies: Do i really have to train to become a Necromancer in Skyhold to get one of the Mixed builds?
I am unsure what I'm doing wrong I've spent multiple days trying to get the eldrich archer to work. I've read and tried many suggestions and still no luck. Still really cool concept of a mod hopefully I figure this out or someone has other ideas on what to do!
I had problems with that from what i recall i deleted all previous charcter saves from the game and then cleared the Frosty cache and all nods from the Frosty mod file and started with a clear mod list .
Whether that's the correct method it seemed to work for me and then i built my mods up slowly.
I tried using the early unlock for Eldritch Archer, but got stuck in an infinite loading screen when I tried opening the game. The regular version works fine for me, however.
EDIT: I swapped the two files once I got to the Hinterlands and the specialization showed up. Not sure what the issue was but it works now. Thank you for this amazing mod, this is a huge improvement on mage gameplay!
SECOND EDIT: I played through the entire game + all DLCs with Eldritch Archer and had no issues whatsoever. 10/10, would heavily recommend!
So I have The All Skill trees for the Inquisitor mod as well as the Stormblade mod. However I seem to run into an issue when I put a point into Bloodied Prey where I end up at the main menu with a disconnection issue. Also where should I put this in my load order? Higher with All skill trees mod or lower? Should all skill tree and this mod be in a specific load order? @soriyumi
**Daggers are not showing up. I have the schematic but the daggers do not show up when equipped. I get stuck with a staff. **I have removed all class mods. When equipped a load in leads to an endless loading/black screen.
These mods work fine for me, and the only thing I can think of is you having AllAbilityTreesForInquisitor or something else that conflicts with this mod.
Guide for getting the schematic(s) + how to get daggers that do more damage while keeping the Elemental AOE effects for anyone that might find it useful.
Figured out most of this from other commenters so thanks to them but i thought i'd compile the info while elaborating on some things! (STORMBLADE ONLY I HAVENT TRIED ELDRITCH ARCHER. though in theory it should be the same, just a different version of the configurable weapons mod)
First of all, i've seen people confused about how to get the schematic for the Armada's captain knife if you're not in trespasser and/or you don't have the golden nug to get it. Simply put, you can't (as far as i'm aware) You'll have to install a mod that sells the crafting schematics in earlier shops. Personally I used this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/3373 I THINK you can uninstall it after you bought the schematic but i'm not entirely sure about that as i just kept it in my game
Now for getting daggers that do more damage you will need these two mods: For the actual daggers: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/2106 To be able to buy the custom daggers schematic: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/2174 (There is a Redcliffe shop version of this mod if you don't have access to Haven)
How the configurable daggers mod works: Basically, just drop it into your frosty mod manager and it should open a config screen where you can adjust the settings, materials, appearance, passives, etc. you can edit these to your liking, there is an image guide for what appearances there are on the mod page if you're interested in changing that. THE IMPORTANT THING HERE IS TO MAKE SURE YOU UNCHECK THE "Rogue Only" BOX. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO EQUIP IT AS MAGE. there is also a passive ability that adds an element of your choice to the weapon but i would personally recommend not using this as (for me anyway) the effect of the element glitched and remained on even when i didn't have the daggers equipped. if this doesn't bother you you can use this method but there is another way to get an element on your daggers that i will explain later. After you've made the daggers to your liking add the file to your applied mods along with the mod that allows you to buy the schematic for it. Personal load order for this was Shop mod ABOVE dagger mod but i don't think it matters (?) For the in-game stuff: Go buy your schematics from the specified shops (YOU WILL NEED BOTH THE ARMADA'S AND YOUR CUSTOM ONE FOR A REASON I WILL EXPLAIN) Craft them to your liking. Although, here's the kicker, you will still need to use at least one of the underpowered Armada's captain knife along with one of your new custom one. I know it's not a perfect solution as one of your daggers will still be underpowered but personally i just made the custom one slightly more op to make up for that "damage loss". Now, the reason we need to do it this way is if you only equip both your custom daggers you wont have the proper animations (?) and it will default to the regular rogue attacks. I don't know if this conflicts with the abilities yet as I haven't been able to test it that far so if this doesn't necessarily bother you you can try experimenting with it but this is just how i've been playing. As for how to apply the elemental effect all i did was add a superb rune of (element you want) to the custom dagger so that it still shows the particle effect for said element. It does slightly less damage than the one on the armada dagger but you probably won't really notice the difference. You can get the runes the legit way or you can buy them from the same mod i linked to buy the armada schematic, depends on you. You can also slightly buff the Armada dagger with a rune to balance it a bit more if you prefer.
That's basically it! i hope this saves someone from having to spend ages like i did trying to figure this out.
Thank you so much for this guide. I have been puling my hair out for the past few days (figuratively, since I have non) trying to to make mods work as intended. Was missing the armada's captain knife schematic and didn't how to make other crafted daggers work in the same way.
If you want to use daggers that are stronger than the mod schematic that still have aoe damage and an element use svarty's configurable daggers or dual-blades. It lets you make higher damage daggers while having aoe damage and an element. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/2106?tab=description
For anyone interested in downloading the archer files for this mod. DON'T. It doesn't work at the moment, horrible bug where your class will reset to rogue and be stuck with the rogue tree, as well as the mod being pretty much incompatable with any mod you can think of. Also, for some apparent reason the mod author decided that the best schematic for the bow to be equipable would be one that can only be obtained in the trespasser dlc near the endgame. But don't worry you can just download another mod which adds all the schematics to shops. Oh wait, none of those mods include this specific bow schematic, so pretty much you're f.cked. No idea how anyone has managed to get this work. If the mod author ever decides to respond to any of these comments below listing their problems then that would be much appreciated.
You've got a serious attitude problem there. Should I apologize for having a life outside of this website, or the fact that I make these mods (which is a lot of knowledge and effort) for free? You were specifically warned about the archer files possibly being game-breaking, and I haven't had a lot of time or energy for modding DAI in a while, which is why the comments went unanswered. Please do not come onto my mod pages again if you're just going to complain and insult me.

Will give it a go shortly.

When precisely is it available.
I have deleted all mods and cleared the frosty cache out and deleted all previous saves in the game and started a new game but still no success.
Thanks for any help
